Mine was a total mess right out of the box! Un playable! Neck had a ton of relief in it. So did a truss rod adjustment which led to string buzz. Raised the saddles and that helped. Got to looking down the neck again and realized the body had been routed out to deep. So had to shim the neck. Got the saddles re set and the intonation set and it is playable but had a high fret at the 12th. Hince slight string buzz Still need to file and crown it. Good thing I got it to mod or I would have thrown it in the burn pile. Got a hot Telly bridge pickup in it and a cool hot P90 for the neck from GF. All Kwik plug with a new Kwik plug harness. Sounds really good now.
After watching your videos, I decided to build a tele. It is a lot cheaper to build one yourself and you can use the best parts. All of the USA custom shop guitars are over $3500 and I ordered the same quality parts they use. My guitar cost $1682 in parts and they should be here this Saturday. I can’t wait to start working on it. Thanks for the videos. 👍
@@louiswilkins9624 It went very well with no problems. I ordered the neck and body from Warmoth. It is now my favorite guitar. I am going to build a super Strat in a few months.
So funny today you partied like it's 1999. And I partied like it was 1969 with Hendrix today. 😂. It looks and sounds good brother! I love the pickguard!
Awesome! I always wanted a Tele with a humbucker at the bridge position after I heard Joe Perry playing one on Aerosmith’s Texxas Jam. Awesome job Sir Richard!
You had me at Ready ! I wonder if some wood filler in the Old holes would help the strings come thru easier ? looks great with the new bridge and control plate and the pickups sound great too !
Thanks! I'm sure there was an easier or better way that I could've done it. I thought about adding some wood filler just like you're thinking, but ultimately didn't do that.
Great job of explaining the complications you ran into trying to achieve the look you wanted. The end result was worth all your efforts. I also think the pickup covers look better than chrome, particularly on this guitar. Please keep the great videos coming, Richard.
I have no interest in T-style guitars based solely on the standard pickup configuration vs. my needs, so the dual rail makes all the difference here. A guitar can look great, but if it does not inspire me to play it then there is no point. As far as looks go, I absolutely love everything you did with this but it's not just the looks, but also the fact that you put a fair bit of work into it along with your personal taste in order for this project to work. It feels more "your own," and that's a good feeling. On top of all this, it sounds pretty darn good. You pulled it off great! Seriously, good job!
They didn't have my size for the purple suit. Yes a top loader would've worked better, but I didn't realize the holes weren't going to line up until after I got it.
@@thebaldshredder I've got bridge nightmare going on 2 PRS builds right now! I'm gonna have to reinvent the wheel on this these! I should have went bolt on!! Lol
Just curious. about the difficulty getting strings thru the body... did you try moving the saddles back a bit with a finger to help line up the holes? this usually makes it easier for me. At least for most strings
I know this is an old video but do you know of a new bridge that would drop in? Ive got the same guitar and the bridge is pretty hoaky. Love your videos! Thanks!
Hey, I got that same bridge/control plate stuff for my Tele lol. Did yours come with pickups and pots? Mine did, but I found them kinda...meh.. the pickups, not the control pots
@@thebaldshredder oh, weird. Maybe there's different versions/trims of them then. But yeah, the pickups that came with mine... yeah, they looked like Tele pups, but did not sound like it, at all. Also also, that Glarry looks gorgeous. I was skeptical about their version of the butterscotch blonde. Actually looks really good
I don't remember exactly what the neck pocket looked like. Not sure if the dimensions are Fender standard. But even if it isn't, with some modifications I'm sure you could make it work.
The Richard James custom shop is getting more and more sophisticated!! Excellent video buddy!!!!!
Thanks 👍
What's with the animal battles? First it was Tiger vs. Dragon. Now it's Leopard (pickguard) vs. Zebra (humbucker)!
Next is fish vs elephant
Awesome! Love those Anderson's the pickguard is beautiful!
That intro was hilarious!😂😂😂
😁

The Glarrys definitely need a lot of set up.
That looks awesome and sounds great Richard, really nice upgrades there man 😀🤘🎵🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Yes! You saved a ton of money and ended up with an awesome guitar. Nice!
How did your build go?

@@barkeater9606 Thanks , this gives me some ideas 💡🤔
verry cool. now i want to do something similar

Well usually I'm partying like it's 1989, so it's good to get some other decades in there.
@@thebaldshredder Very true. Ahhh the 80's. Best music era ever!

Cool upgrades
Thanks
Looks killer Richard.
That’s always the key, adapt and overcome.
Maybe use coated strings so you don’t have to change them much.
Rock on 🤘
Thanks Andy! Yeah, every single project has things that need to be figured out. Every time. Problem solving is a huge part of the process.
Well it looks like you did a bit of macgyvering there. Just like stuff I would do. By the way that bridge pickup is a humbucker
All I need is some duct tape and a screw driver and I'll make it work!

I assume you also wanted a purple jump suit! subconsciously of course! "lol" love that bridge! fun! Thanks! top load bridge for strings?

Looks and sounds awesome man 🎼🎸🎶
Thanks!
Wow what a pain in the ass. Looks and sounds good now tho. Great job man as usual! 🔥🎸
A bit of a pain but it turned out good.
Cool
Just curious. about the difficulty getting strings thru the body... did you try moving the saddles back a bit with a finger to help line up the holes? this usually makes it easier for me. At least for most strings
It's not the saddles that are the problem. The holes in the bottom of the bridge plate didn't line up with the holes on the body.

No I don't. Sorry.

Can you replace the neck with a Fender neck using their neck pocket design?
I don't remember exactly what the neck pocket looked like. Not sure if the dimensions are Fender standard. But even if it isn't, with some modifications I'm sure you could make it work.
So Ali express is legit?
Yeah I've ordered tons of stuff from there including custom guitars.
