- Today we stayed at Shades of Green a Military Resort very close to Magic Kingdom. The first thing we saw upon pulling in was the walkway to the Polynesian that is now closed😕. Then
I give you a tour of our standard room, and we got to the pool 😍. Then we jump to the next morning where we eat at the Garden Grill Buffet for breakfast and talk about the elevators by the parking garage. Next, we go back to the night before where we went to Epcot for Extended Hours-since Shades of Green is included in the Deluxe Resorts for Disney. Epcot had lots of Red, White and Blue Lights for July 4th. Epcot Extended Hours started at 9 pm and ended at 11pm. We rode our first ride-Spaceship Earth at 9:30 due to our dining reservation at Space 220-then immediately got in line for Guardians of the Galaxy since we got a virtual line at 6 pm. After we got off-we went straight to Ratatouille. The wait said 25 minutes, but to our surprise it was only 2 minutes of just walking through the queue. We ended up riding twice!
We had a great time with our family!

Great video. Quick question, for the after-hours tickets.....does it give you access to the park in the daytime too ?
This was very helpful! We’re looking at staying at SOG for our Disney trip next year. How reliable are the park buses and do you recommend the “Minnie” vans once done with the extended hours with tired little ones? Thank you for sharing! 🙂
Living local we usually just drive our own vehicle. Before we moved to Orlando and stayed at Shades of Green we would use the buses. The Shades of green buses- they give you a card and check before each time you get on, and the Disney buses usually have a very long wait a the end of the day. We have never used a Minnie van-so I am not sure about those. I hope you have a great trip!
Yes, the SOG busses were running often when we were there in June, and you can either use the Minnie Mouse Minivan OR Lyft or Uber. We were concerned when they closed the walkway, but they added more busses, so it was pretty balanced. Have a great trip
Great video! So sad Josh D’Amaro of Disney had the walkway to Polynesian closed to influence and persuade shades of green guests to stay at a Disney hotel rather than the shades. They could easily keep the walkway or reroute it during the construction but D’Amaro has been quoted saying he doesn’t want veterans or their families using the Polynesian for transportation seeing they are not paying and he was gonna put an end to that
So sad, I agree they should have found a way to keep it open.
