I'm not saying that Prosecco is a bad wine, as it certainly has its place and role, but if you absolutely must drink Italian bubbles, you might also consider Franciacorta.
An Italian once told me that most Italians hate Prosecco. Idk if that's true, but there are other sparkling wines in Italy that I prefer over Prosecco tbh.
There are many great Italian sparklers! Trento DOC, Franciacorta, Metodo Classico... Prosecco is the welcome gift for all things Italian bubbly. And for the clever, you can find incredible bottles for exceptional value. We sent our Master of Wine to Valdobbiadene last year and she came back a total convert.

I’m surprised you didn’t explain the difference between Frizzante and Spumante Prosecco. Frizzante you open with a cork screw and they have string around the cork rather than a metal ‘cage’, for that reason they are sometimes called ‘al spago’ (which means string). These are often considered the best Prosecco!
Yeah, indeed! We triaged details based on how commonly asked about and available they generally are. Curious to know where are you seeing these often in the US?
Well, that’s not what I’ve seen in the marketplace. Lots of great values out there and wines with unique character. Maybe I don’t see what you see. Where can I find these overpriced wines?
@@winefolly It was emphasized during Wset 3 that any category above Valdobiaddene is not necessarily related to better quality.
