I just read this book for my library book club. We are going to discuss it tomorrow. I really enjoyed this book. For once, I figured out whodunnit! I was horrified by how unsupportive his mother was, and how greedy and manipulative his family was. The Marks (slaveholder) family was another set of whacky bad guys. I see that Brendan Slocumb is writing a second book, so I hope it will be as good.
