There is more context to this story. After the Windsor Castle incident, Micheal Hammond was arrested with someone else - his girlfriend at the time. She worked for a London PR company. I think she supported him financially. That is how he managed to have access to celebrities, agents, events, newspapers etc. This documentary makes it sound like he was cold calling everyone off the street. London is a place you can attend a PR event every night of the week, get free booze and schmooze the 'famous'. He encountered that Corrie guy on that circuit. There's plenty of enterprising social climbers doing this all the time, to get a presenting gig or get on reality TV or whatever - What makes this guy different is that he was a loose cannon and did all that illegal cop impersonation stuff.
I know, and he had that chance right in his hand when he could have been a presenter. He could have had great attention with that job and rubbed elbows properly.
