  • This is the new avionics package that was recently installed in one of our Turbo Commanders. It includes a Garmin 600 Txi PFD, Garmin & GTN 750 GPS. Video quality is not the best due to camera housing lens and turbulence.

    I'm learning so much from your videos that I will apply when flying the 690A. Like the commentaries too. very helpful

    Extra speed on descent? On an IFR descent in a piston should we not stay with + or - 10 knots IAS?

    Do they still make twin commanders ?

    Love your videos. I am buying a 690B with Similar setup so really enjoyed watching your full video. From all the research I did the 690B is a beat of an airplane for what it can do and for the fuel burn. Will get my hands on it hopefully in a week as soon as I close.

    Tim. Good video with better view of instruments. Interesting on how you use paper airport data cards when you have Foreflight available. Must be law of primacy in play. Use of fan is interesting. I am going to look into that when I fly in the Summer in NM. THANK YOU! Patrick from Albuquerque

      Hey Patrick, we were just talking about the paper cards yesterday. Sometimes when you want your arrival plate and your approach plate and your taxi diagram all out Foreflight can be a pain in the ass because you open one plate and it closes the other and now you got to push five buttons to get it back. I keep custom "smart cards" for the airports I go to often so I have all that info readily available at a seconds notice.

      Our aircraft AC never worked well. In the summer temps would soar to over 110 as soon as we closed the cabin door. I found that any air movement at all and a wet towel around the neck would make a vast difference.

    Do you wish your txi had a tilt to it like I’ve seen on most Commander’s that has G600? Or is fine flat?

    • @FlyingWildAZ
      @FlyingWildAZ  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It did not present any issues for me with a flat installation.

    The new avionics is a Garmin 950 ?

    Why is the autopilot on the bottom? It was not designed to be laid out that way.

    • @FlyingWildAZ
      @FlyingWildAZ  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not sure but you are right, it's the only beef we have with the system because we have to get around the power/condition levers to set it.

      The layout was always to have the AP on the top. That's how all pro flown acft will have the layout. Did anyone raise cane and try and get that fixed?

    Anytime I flew that auto pilot on a turbo commander in the past I turn it on on and let it do it’s test and keep ap off And use flight director in heading mode and desired pitch and when I get ready to turn auto pilot on all I have to do it hit ap to engage it.
