I have these toys because I wanted some sort of Regular Show representation in my office and was so dissatisfied with the quality especially because they’re not cheap. Your video along with the actual RS episode that mocks them has made the purchase worth it.
Yeah, some character designs really just don't work in other formats or form factors. What looks good in 2D doesn't always translate to 3D. Sometimes, vice versa.
This was pretty interesting but I will never forget the episode where they're actually making fun of their merchandise because now that brings back memories
I remember this remote controlled golf-kart I got from Toys R Us as a kid that had all of the characters on it. I also bought the same type of Rigby action figure model, but instead of his mouth moving he only came with the little ducks, which I still have after a decade later :)
I have a Modecai and Rigby plush set that are dressed in their really real wrestling outfits and they play voice lines when you squeeze them. My parents got me and my brother Mordecai and Rigby respectively for Christmas one year. They are probably the only official plushies that look alright.
There is one Regular Show “toy” that isn’t terrible and is actually pretty cool. I have a Rigby plush bag clip that I got when I worked at Party City and he has a tiny zipper compartment in his back!
So I watched the Regular Show episode mocking the toys and I was expecting them to mock the entire line but I suppose Mordecai and Rigby's toys were just...that bad...and they are! Oh, and don't worry about being older than Mordecai and Rigby, when the show first aired I was a pimply, squeaky voiced teenager thinking they were cool and now I'm in my late 20s angrily watching romance movies.
regular show actually did an episode about how ugly these toys were where some toy company showed them the figures they wanted to make and Moredcai and Rigby went off about how bad and cheap they were
I used to have a Mordacai plushie with a deformed beak. I won him from a claw machine by accident. I was trying for Rigby and the claw drifted horribly and grabbed the Mordacai beside him instead.
I'm proud to say that I own one of those horrifying Rigby toys with the movable jaws. I found it in a clearance bin of products, which just adds to the cursed-ness
The sketch book is one of the loosest part of the creator's process. It is basically a brainstorming session before a character model sheet or storyboard. Gary Larson, the creator of the Far Side, made a book called The Prehistory of the Far Side. It does have a collection in the back woth some notes about the strips in the margin, but the extra special part is the first quarter to half of the book. It not only includes a foreward and some inside story information about the strip/his career but also the drawings of one if his sketchbooks with inserted comments. There are some doodles that were just that and others that would later inspire published strips. It was always so cool to get to see that. You rarely get a peak at the rougher steps of a creative process and Gary Larson was one of the first I knew about to do some thing like this in this way. Personal artbooks have become much more common to release and often more candid as a result. This one was clearly a very limited print of sketches specifically made for episodes of regular show. These are often included as extra features nowadays and rarely include the less related content. They will occasionally throw one or two pieces in for the novelty but that's about it. They also rarely release anything looking to off model. I loved Gary Larson because it was just clearly whole pages being published, uncut. There were doodles even he commented he had no idea what he was thinking when doing them and likely abandoned due to that.
I think it’s mainly because the 2D design’s of the characters do *NOT* translate well into 3D form. Or at least wasn’t done well or meant to be at all😭
The company that made the regular show toys (Jazwares) was notorious for making the most crappy toys you could find in the mid 2010s, their Sonic the Hedgehog line was absolutely horrendous, the figures were super cheap, the plushies especially were awful, with sonic being the worst plush. Jazwares now are slightly better with their stuff (they make Fortnite and Roblox toys now), so I have to guess they realized that they can’t keep making garbage and selling it
The toy's were a bit of...But seeing these and the Adventure Time toy's gives such a heavy hit of childhood Nostalgia,I kind of wish they did more Steven Universe toy's though
I've been binge watching all of these videos over the last few days and I seriously had to stop eating while watching this one multiple times because your laugh, no matter if it's the smallest chuckle, is outrageously contagious to me. And the commentary on top of that wasn't helping. 😂 I'm really loving your content on Foafy so far (I enjoy your main channel stuff as well of course). You're already my favorite Pokémon TCG opener, because you appreciate the artwork and aren't just going after the fancy cards. My brother just recently got me back into Pokémon TCG (My wallet... 😭) and even though I've been following the games the entire time I still have that excited "Look at all the things" attitude like you do towards card packs and I appreciate it. I look forward to your next video on here!
I remember very distinctly getting a little Rigby toy out of a capsule machine at my local mall forever ago and I chewed on it until it was completely decimated. I was later diagnosed with pica
I've never understood the impulse for people to keep collection pieces sealed. Like, far be it from me to tell other people how to collect, shine on you crazy diamonds. BUT what is the point of getting all this stuff from the shows that you love if you never get to actually play with it and fiddle with it. I'd go mad trying to keep my Power Rangers collection mint sealed.
The ugly bootleg looking toys are actually a reference to an episode where a toy company wants to make them into marketable toys and the toys looked ugly. So the toys are the same exact ones from the episode (Season 6x24 Brilliant Century Duck Crisis Special) Also, they released a bunch of adorable plushies but they’re so rare they’re worth like $130 now. I managed to get my husband a pops plushie for somewhat cheap. $60 plus shipping. For a plushie.
As someone who has a cat, whom you could probably call styrofoams #1 fan the second you started messing with the foam I was like oh no. I have styrofoam ptsd that stuff gets everywhere
The toys I believe are a callback to when in one episode they are forced to sign a toy contract, the people show them the toys and they look horrible. So that's why they are bootleg because it is a reference I believe
They were 23 at the beginning of the series. It was in one of the first few episodes that Morticai mentions it in conversation with Rigby. I don't remember what it was that Rigby was insinuating they do but it was something immature. Morticai did the whole "Dude, we are 23 now, we can't just ____ anymore!" speech as a response. I only remember any of this because I was 23 myself when I first saw this episode.
I have a feeling that they made the toys suck to reference that one episode where this company is trying to buy the rights for the guys' likenesses to make bad toys lmfao
The reason the toys of the gang is supposed to be janky because in a episode was about how they would never sellout to a big company and make cheep toys
OMG OMG OMG! I have seen this and watch this video on TH-cam and it was awesome! I love Regular Show and the Regular Show toys! I also love the cup, the lunchbox, the minifigures and the action figures of Mordecai and Rigby! It's awesome how they don't look creepy at all! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I have the Mordecai that comes with The Power and Grilled Cheese Deluxe, and also Rigby with two baby ducks. I believe there was supposed to be a line of the other characters with accessories but I don’t think it was ever released.
The impression for Mordecai saying “Margaret” is literally so accurate wtf.
And the skips one was good too
Margaret, rigby, dudeeeeee
I was particularly a fan of his chainsmoker rigby impersonation
Not at all
Anyone wondering:

Regular Show is a genius for making fun of their own nightmare fuel of a toy.
I know right

The pain and suffering won’t stop help me 🤣😂😂😂🤣😂

You are genuinely pretty good at doing impressions of their voices.
It’s real bizarre seeing Rigby with a Marionette/Ventriloquist Dummy mouth
