    On the subject of resort music tracks, Magical Soundtracks the TH-cam Channel, has several Disney resort tracks. They have Riviera, Wilderness Lodge, & Boardwalk.

    Is there any legal ability for DVC to back out of this restriction?

  • @carriel3054

    I don't think GF feels stuffy - I think it feels spooky. The furniture, curtains, music etc... it feels like Tower of Terror lobby, minus the cobwebs :P

  • @mikew1986

    I think sometimes people like to convince themselves that their purchase was justified. Even more so with DVC purchases like Riveria. Nothing special in my opinion but hey lots of sales available for the masses.
    On a separate note, would love to use your rental company to rent points but unfortunately the nonsense around tax for non-US citizens kills it. Have to use your competition based in Canada.

    Rivera, Gran destino, reflections, new poly tower, bay lake etc all seem like copouts to me by disney. Hate this new style they're rolling out. Just build a Westin or hyatt

    She doesn't feel stuffy cause she's a white woman...others feel out of place at the Grand Floridian....I agree with Pete...Riviera is definitely better than Grand Floridian!

    I would NEVER buy at Riviera, ever. Been DVC too long to ever get trapped in a single resort point pool and I would never support it. The restrictions may not even be legal since there are bylaws that require all resorts in the exchange to be significantly similar. The restrictions are not at all similar. Resale owners of RR should sue, big time!!!

    great review... im looking at both properties but leaning to GF to avoid resell penalty in the future with the restrictions they slammed riviera with

    • @matthewnelson5699
      @matthewnelson5699 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally we own BLT so we want something near HS and Epcot but GF contract life doesn't last as long. Something to consider. Eventually resell value won't be much different. People also like the resort enough to just stay there each time.

    The price of Riviera is not low given that it is still in active sales. Let's see how the pricing settles after the resort sells out and we'll have a verdict on the effect of the resale restrictions.

    With a recession looming, I’m looking to buy DVC direct and resale, do we buy now or wait to see if points change and reduce then buy? Riviera is my number 1 pick for direct!!! I love that place and toppolinos is my hands down fave.

    • @tutuluvsminnie7129
      @tutuluvsminnie7129 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Prices for resale are better than they have been in a while. Many sellers will negotiate. If you are buying direct, the incentives are great and get the referral codes from a friend who is a DVC member.

    • @roseytano6385
      @roseytano6385 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm. I wouldn’t count on the recession for a really significant decrease in cost. It also depends on how many points you are interested in. There are always incentives when buying direct when you purchase more points. We bought 400 pts at $155/pt summer 2020. (I think sticker price at that time was in the neighborhood of $200/pt. You already know the restrictions for RR when buying resale.

    • @jackpast
      @jackpast 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought last year. I started looking at direct points as I wanted maximum flexibility with those points. Sometime near the end of the year points were discounted by Disney and I pulled the trigger. Love that resort and Topolino’s too!

      I plan to buy very small contract at RIV but have 160 resale at BLT. Direct cost a lot. If you love RIV maybe consider some points resale to keep price down and the rest direct. All depends on total amount of points you are looking to own.

    We love our home resort, Riveria!! The music,art,smell and the mosaics in the arch way!! The size of the resort sold me. Everything under one roof!!

    The cast there is wonderful. Our trip included an animal kingdom resort night. That staff was top notch as well, but the people at riveria felt much warmer and relaxed. I've heard a lot of negative opinions on the riveria and we were wondering if we made a mistake buying there, but after our stay we were thrilled for it to be our home resort. The staff at Paradise Pier have a similar vibe to them as well.

    I still haven't stayed at Riviera, but I love it so much! The first time we checked it out, I felt so at home! As annual passholders that go to the parks 1-2 times a month, if we go to Epcot or HS, we always take the skyliner to Riviera midday for lunch and/or dessert and coffee. Such a wonderful place to get away from the crowds to relax, delicious food and just a wonderful vibe all around. We've also seen the characters there which was a nice surprise.

    Riviera is definitely not in the same category as Grand Floridian. Grand Floridian has multiple restaurants, bars, and shopping options, a spa, better pools, multiple transportation modes, better views, access to marina rentals. In terms of the number of/ access to amenities Riviera is surpassed by many DVC resorts on WDW property.

    Riviera is very elegant and I would say, “restrained” . I expected Riviera to be more over the top like the Coronado Springs tower with a grand lobby and while I do like the Riviera, it was underwhelming when compared to Coronado Springs and Grand Floridian. We stayed at Riviera once and it was lovely, however if the skyliner is down for weather plan on long long lines and pushy people jostling to get their family ahead of yours and onto a bus. The one black eye during our stay was a down skyliner due to rain and Disney not responding quickly with increased buses. Also while the rooms appear high end and elegant, we noticed only the touch points received those high end finishes. For example real marble was used where a guest would be close to it. But other areas like the marble wall behind the tub is actually cheap ceramic tile printed to look like marble. Another example is the crystal ceiling lights are actually plastic and not crystal. I would never buy there due to the resale restriction, but will use my unrestricted AK points to stay at Riviera again in the future.

    The first DVC resort with the Innova beds was NOT Riviera, it was the refurbished Saratoga rooms.

  • @HibiscusHaven23

    Other than the beautiful rooms and being on the skyliner route, Riviera is not on my favorites list. The pool has to be the most boring pool of all DVC resorts. I recently stayed there during the Christmas season and it in no way can stand up against the other resorts as far as grandness and Christmas vibes. I’m not sure a smaller gift shop exists other than the one at Riviera. I feel like this resort was a huge miss. I don’t feel like I’m at Disney when I stay at Riviera, I feel like I could be anywhere at a really nice resort. I love Disney Resort pools but I passed on the Riviera pool on my last stay. I saved Pool day for the Poly.

    Buying direct there allows me to have 11 months. Buying direct elsewhere allows me to try at 7 months. So 11 months will eventually become very important there. Not sure how I pick direct elsewhere because this has a long contract length and no other boardwalk area resorts are near as logical to buy

    My wife & I are 1yr old DVC members and Riviera is our home resort! We just stayed there for our first home stay and after coming home and looking back we are so happy that we choose Riviera! We also had our whole family with us in the 2 bedroom villa & it exceeded our expectations by far compared to other Disney moderate resorts! The only “ONE”negative was the Skyliner we couldn’t use 3 times due to it raining. My wife and I are already looking into buying more points. We only have 150 points and having our other family members with us to accommodate the 2 bedroom villa we had to use 2 and half years of points so now it’s like if we go again with all of them we would have to wait. Hence our small dilemma/add on itis 😂

    I love your show. I’m learning so much about DVC that I didn’t know, in spite of being a member now for 10 years. In the future, please consider reviewing some of the handicapped accessible rooms in your show. I’ve had both hips replaced and getting up from low furniture/toilets, etc., is very difficult. Considering many trips are inter-generational, this information may be important to many. Sadly, I’ve found the on-line descriptions to be so similar that a person who needs this type or room can’t really tell what they will get in advance. Any assistance you could give would be really helpful! Thank you, in advance.

    Love Riveria. Mind you for potential buyers, dues and points are high. For direct purchases you get to stay in future resorts Vs resales you are at the Riveria only. I foresee future DVC resorts fall under the same restrictions. Sales will continue modestly. Be curious as to what the age of the average buyer is. You can bet that the dues will continue to go up as result of upkeep to the resort needs and skyliner

    Riviera is beautiful. I love the Grand Floridian. For me, the resale restrictions are not forgivable. BUT, they both need to have a dedicated Community Center like at the Boardwalk, BLT, Kidani and others..
    I cant compare a walk to the MK on par with a gondola ride. I would rather monorail to other resorts to eat at the variety of restaurants in the nearby resorts (or just walk to the POLY). But you dont need to go anywhere as the GF has some of the best restaurants.
    It is fun to experience all the resorts and to be restricted to just one, would be hard for me. I have home resort contracts at the villas where i want to stay in December and any other contracts are for going to any resort changing year to year.

    I love the Riviera! So many great food and beverage offerings there and the ease of getting around with the gondolas! The only negative for me ( and its so minute) is looking out of my balcony into Caribbean Beach. I feel like it compromises the theme a tiny bit. Beautiful though!!
