My grandma was german but sadly i've never talked to her about her life and her father's one. I was a teenage when she passed away but i loved her so much. She was a tough woman. I know all of these things because of my father who told me it. As he, i won't let my family's legacy die. Even though i'm brazilian, there's germanic blood running in my veins. @@patro734 my great grandfather didn’t fight in WW1 but he was in world war 2 and took part in the invasion of Italy, my grandmother said that her mother(my great grandmother) told her that before he went to Italy he was normal, but afterwards he was a completely different person, almost like he was disturbed by what happened. I don’t know what exactly he did but I’m guessing he was probably bogged down at either Anzio or monte casino if he was a completely different person afterwards because those battles were insane

If I could ever see any historical event in person that would most certainly be it.
I'm French myself and I know history well. When I hear the voices singing this anthem, i feel like all of the people of Germany is crying to the ridiculousness of the world wars. Such a great people country language culture and nation of Europe wasted for nothing. No more brothers war.

The song wasn't Nazi at all, but when I sang it for the rehearsal, some of the parents and teachers were concerned that it was"sending the wrong message" and thought that to an audience that didn't know German it would sound a lot like the Nazi anthem. So, the next thing you know, the director is sending me an email the literal night before the production basically telling me that we needed to do a better job introducing the song or I couldn't do it. Long story short, it was a load of b.s. but we did get it resolved and I was able to sing the song.

The song wasn't Nazi at all, but when I sang it for the rehearsal, some of the parents and teachers were concerned that it was"sending the wrong message" and thought that to an audience that didn't know German it would sound a lot like the Nazi anthem. So, the next thing you know, the director is sending me an email the literal night before the production basically telling me that we needed to do a better job introducing the song or I couldn't do it. Long story short, it was a load of b.s. but we did get it resolved and I was able to sing the song.

Frater, I am aware of how it "works". I wasn't claiming that he would be emperor of Germany, my point is that we still have Prince and Dukes in Bavaria (from the family that was the King of Bavaria). And I would not want Bavaria to be under a Prussian emperor again, Bavaria lost territory last time around because of Prussian decision. I'm good with Bavaria having a king again, but not to be ruled by Prussians. I'd rather Bavaria go independent than be ruled by Prussia.

Austria is thus a German State, but they didn't join the union, and they were banned from joining anyway. Sorta like if Texas never got annexed by the USA.
