I love that brush engine. Great paint job and I love the grill lights. Also, I know it's not just MN, but you all do have a lot of engines and tankers built with semi front ends (FL?). I like that. Pretty unique.
Commercial chassis apparatus are almost always several hundred thousand dollars cheaper than a custom cab. In my personal opinion (my entire department with exception of myself disagrees) there are very rarely circumstances where a custom cab is required, that being tight spaces. A commercial cab (in addition to significant cost savings) often has more spec options, engine, transmission, axles, suspension, cab, than a custom. Maintenance is often easier, especially in more rural areas (unless Massey Ferguson gets into the emergency services market). And of course those areas in dire financial straits, can remount on chassis they already have, or get donor trucks.
More for financial reasons then standards. A truck built on a Commercial chassis will save a Department tens of thousands if not a couple hundred thousand compared to a custom built one. Burnsville and St. Paul fire departments used to run units like that kenworth. Burnsville ran Peterbilt and Saint Paul ran Ford's with that similar rear cab.
Correct, a 2008 Spartan Gladiator/Rosenbauer 105' Tower. Step type van is used for Equipment, Personnel Carrier etc. Behind that is our Air Boat, we've got a lot of Lakes around us! L.F.D. has served the area since 1855. Last year in 2012 we ran 65 Calls. We get a lot more of our own calls then we do Mutual Aid. Thanks for the interest!
Funny Enough, The Engine ended up in Western Canada at a Rosenbauer Dealer, It was used as a rental truck for a few years, and has since had the Enclosure and body, Remounted and refurbished on a 2021 Freightliner M2 106
Correct, it is! Yes, it is tight! In the left bay, Brush 1 is in the very rear and just barely fits, then Tender, then Engine in very front. As for now it does the Job!
Ah this video.. It was one of my first ever fire truck response videos that I've ever watched, very nice video anyway! Those trucks sure are different and.. Well.. Great!
Well, all of the FD's in Chisago County are their own Dept. Their own Rigs, Chief's etc. etc. Most Depts have Rescue Equipment and have it on their Engine and or Rescue. Each Dept may chose to use what they want. Some Depts in our Co do "compete", LFD does not. Thanks for your interest, hope I've covered what you have asked.
Thanks! I've got 30 + more video's of LFD, as I live in Lindstrom. I just however, cannot post them, per Dept. Policy. This was the only one I was able to do.
+Ryan Olsen I know this is over a year old but how can a department policy keep you from posting videos of them? Especially if you aren't a member of said department. I'd post away.
grey man some departments have a no media policy for members, or have a policy asking the public to not post pictures or videos. And if you break the policy they can fire you or remove you from department
Is that a ladder I see in the station? What is the step van (UPS type truck) used for? What is behind that rig in the 3RD bay to the right? Aproximately how old is the fire depaartment? Do you get more of your own calls or Mutial aide calls? Be Safe and Thank you for sharing.
What they didn't wanna take out the last two XD lol, some unusual rigs they have there. I love the paint though. Town just across from mine used to have the yellow trucks but now they have as they put it "the professional looking fire trucks" featuring the very basic red
+Boeingfan727 Nope - No need for a Tower and or Air-Boat on a grass fire. L.F.D. just had a brand new black over yellow Fire Engine built. They're switching colors.
Actually yellow is a more common and more safe color cause you can see t easier they call them visibility yellow for some reason. Ours in Goreville Illinois are yellow. We have a yellow engine, yellow tanker, white brush and two rescue units one is a 1980 box ambulance that's white with a green stripe (which is now a backup/secondary) and one is a 1990ford rescue pickup with a top on it and its yellow as well with red reflective stripes on the back.
Well, all Dept's need an Engine and Rescue. Some choose a Rescue-Engine. Since we are Rural we need the Brush and Tanker. Some Dept's in the Co have Equipment Trucks, as they are nice for hauling well, Equipment. We are the only Dept in our area of the Co to have a Ladder. Which gets called for M/A House Fire's.
St. Croix Falls will be getting a new apparatus piece in about a year from Rosenbauer. It’s a Tanker Chassis engine called a Timberwolf if you want to go check that out!
Hey, the siren no longer works... The Towns next to me, West and East both use their siren for Fire Calls. I could get a video but it would be of me at my house...
Hey Ryan A serious question here not bustin balls. Why does evey department need an Engine and a Rescue? Why cant individual departments specialize and act like "companies"? Is it a situation where mutual aide is very far away? Or is it a situation where you compete with your neighbors? Be safe!!
They are. but with a voulnteer fire department it takes a little longer to get going cause the FFs aren't there so they have to leave from home or wherever there at then get to the trucks then respond and go where's a full/part time department has people at the station to just jump in the trucks.
Seeing Lindstrom fire now with all the Black apparatus, one from Rosenbauer as well. I can say they have improved by a lot. Those Reflective green colors on Fire apparatus is probably the ugliest.
I think the people of Lindstrom will regret having that POS Rosen more than having that beat up old Kenworth. But ya know if they'd rather buy cheap European made garbage, then they'll get what they pay for.
I love the second truck that responds. The black brush truck. Sounds amazing
Jesse Row It is awesome!
That engine only a mother could love
Amen!
Or D/O freezing their ass off in January at a 2am barn fire.
Aww come on. It looks great.
Darren van Ek I love it it's a Kenworth t600
A T600 with an extended cab..uhh...with bus doors...and uhh...a utility, pickup, bed...uhh...thingy.
That last truck to roll definitely was an interesting piece. Never seen anything designed like that before.
+theone2225 They're more popular here in MN.
Ryan Olsen ya Im from NY State and Ive never seen anything like that. Pretty interesting to see.
+theone2225 Glad you enjoyed it.
+Ryan Olsen What is special about that apparatus? With the huge cab does it carry more manpower or is it just to be different. Awesome piece.
I love that brush engine. Great paint job and I love the grill lights. Also, I know it's not just MN, but you all do have a lot of engines and tankers built with semi front ends (FL?). I like that. Pretty unique.
Thank you! Yes, there are a lot of Commercial cabs such as Freightliner, (some) Fords, Peterbilt, and International.

There's departments in Wisconsin that have Peterbuilt trucks, too. They can be found anywhere not just Minnesota.
Unusual looking apparatus.
Ps
shooter4287 this is because of rural area fire standards, they are different than you expect in a city
Great video to watch. You did a great job! Very nice apparatus and I am impressed with the turnout of firefighters. Helmets off for Lindstrom Fire.
Thank, you!!!!

How come no aerial?
Funny Enough, The Engine ended up in Western Canada at a Rosenbauer Dealer, It was used as a rental truck for a few years, and has since had the Enclosure and body, Remounted and refurbished on a 2021 Freightliner M2 106
Is there photos of this rig anywhere?
Great Response Video! Tanker looks Awesome!
Correct, it is! Yes, it is tight! In the left bay, Brush 1 is in the very rear and just barely fits, then Tender, then Engine in very front. As for now it does the Job!
Minnesota, the only state with Kenworth and Peterbilt fire trucks lol
Im glad your still alive, just came across the video, nice
Ah this video.. It was one of my first ever fire truck response videos that I've ever watched, very nice video anyway! Those trucks sure are different and.. Well.. Great!
+Blue Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it!
A lot of Minnesota Apparatus are like that.. :)
You don’t wear structure gear to wild land fires do you?
What was the last truck that went out? I've never seen anything like it before.
That was the Engine. It has since been replaced by a brand new 2015 Pumper.
Ryan Olsen
Brandon Hess the manufacture is a Kenworth t600 body of the cab

Thanks, yes its a Kenworth, built by General not Custom.
02:04 - 02:10 Siren Usage 👌👌👌
+Jaxson Warner Agreed! :-)
Agreed!
Jaxson Warner ikr
Love the lights on the last rig
I've never seen an Engine like that before at 3:10, nice catch!
Thanks! I've got 30 + more video's of LFD, as I live in Lindstrom. I just however, cannot post them, per Dept. Policy. This was the only one I was able to do.

most have a open door policy like mine does meaning any one wishing to vist take pic or videos can.
Those trucks now are rare they used to be around a lot now it's hard to find them
that kenworth engine is beautiful
Yes- it is! It has since been sold.
That first brush truck i love!!!
It is a neat looking rig!
Ryan Scott Olsen wat is it pov or an actual brush truck?
The Durango is the (now retired) Chief's buggy.
Is that their only station, cuz it looks kinda small to house all those units.
did they ever add on to the station
No, they didn't. As of right now, they won't be doing anything to it. The City didn't approve of an addition.
Ryan Olsen hope they approve it sometime because someone might vandalize the trucks
It has been approved, actually. :)
Ryan Olsen thanks for the reply
i didnt know about that town when i lived in MINNESOTA!
Is that a ladder I see in the station? What is the step van (UPS type truck) used for? What is behind that rig in the 3RD bay to the right? Aproximately how old is the fire depaartment? Do you get more of your own calls or Mutial aide calls? Be Safe and Thank you for sharing.
hey ryan thank you for the reply keep up the good work!!
What they didn't wanna take out the last two XD lol, some unusual rigs they have there. I love the paint though. Town just across from mine used to have the yellow trucks but now they have as they put it "the professional looking fire trucks" featuring the very basic red

The kenworth was SICK
what were the 2nd and 3rd vehicles that responded
The second was the Grass Rig, and the third was the Rescue.
Is that a Volunteer Fire Department?
Was wondering when somebody was giong to roll the tanker.
Any details on E1? I'd love to know more about it. Looks like some gear was falling out the side at 3:54
Spec wise? On this rig or their new one?
This rig. I haven't seen the new one.
This rig (now retired) is a 1995 Kenworth / General Safety.
green fire units responding cool
Interesting cab on that last rig
They're pretty popular around here.
nothing like rolling the whole house to a brush fire?!!
Surprised they left two trucks in the station
What was the last apparatus that left I love the look of it!
That was the old Engine.
Do you mean my Pager? My County is on Digital as well, however to alert the Volunteers of a Fire or Medical they page us out.
Any more videos of this department? And maybe do a video tour of all trucks there
North Branch Fire also has a kenworth engine #4302... and its the right color :)
I have a question. Did that pager say 10th page?! I swear that's what I heard/hope I didn't hear haha!
No, it didn't. Haha! That would be SO bad!
Phew! I was getting slightly nervous haha!

You heard brush pick up and go!
Yes, It is a Kenworth/General
Those were awesome sirens
Thanks!
For the year of 2012 we had around 64 Calls. We don't run First Responders, just Fire Calls.
What about rescues?
what street
is this on
how u can use this receiver? in my country these services use digital ones and crypted..
Can someone answer this question: do the pager tones vary by department, type of call (fire, EMS, etc.), region, scanner type, or any other reason?
Yes, they do. Each Agency has a different pager tone.
Yes Very much. They differs by everything you mentioned mainly they differ on the Dept.
The big trucks what are those
They are the Engine and Tanker.
Tht last truck tht pull out u kno wat type truck tht is
What siren is on that tanker!? It is so loud! I love it!!! I want one for my unit!!!
St. Croix Falls will be getting a new apparatus piece in about a year from Rosenbauer. It’s a Tanker Chassis engine called a Timberwolf if you want to go check that out!
That kenworth is so cool
Thank you!
it looks weird
I don't think I've ever seen a kenworth fire engine before...
Did it end up being something?
Awesome catch! Very nice rigs :)
Thanks!!
Ryan Olsen w0 a
I liked the brush, but a lot of their other trucks look weird lol, like that Kensworth
Hey, the siren no longer works... The Towns next to me, West and East both use their siren for Fire Calls. I could get a video but it would be of me at my house...
Bunkers for a grass fire? Jeez. That's no fun whatsoever
Not in the slightest!
no old school siren?
Nope. Sorry dude!
Where did you get the pager.
I bought it along with the Programming Software.
Good looking tanker
Lucky you. have the time we have to fight our way out of the station. people pay no attention anymore and its quite pitiful. Smh
+lilwolfe2000 Yes, it never seems to get any easier, either.
Hey, that is actually a bell. It never goes off. I can get a video of Center City's Siren, they do one blow everynight at 1800.
Thank you!
what is "right"color
How many runs a year do you guys get?
If you count each apparatus response as a run, they get 19 a year, 5 of which were in this video.
Beautiful rigs
They didn't send enough units. The ladder truck, the step van and the rescue boat should've been dispatched as well. lol jk
+garlic287 LOL!!
Do they have a ladder ?
Thanks!
That tone sounds like the tone sturgis Fire Department has in Sturgis Michigan
It's a pretty common tone -- for the Minitor pagers.
Really cool looking trucks
Dave Yognaut Thanks!
Hey Ryan A serious question here not bustin balls. Why does evey department need an Engine and a Rescue? Why cant individual departments specialize and act like "companies"? Is it a situation where mutual aide is very far away? Or is it a situation where you compete with your neighbors? Be safe!!
No problem. Thanks a lot! :)
I am not sure, but I will find out. I like it too!
I didnt see a rescue respond
Nope, Engine and rest of the Units were canceled.
really. green fire trucks can lower ISO ratings, plus they are easier to see at night
Thanks
Nice trucks! Is your engine made by Custom Fire and it the truck a Ken worth?
Great freaking catch!
Thank you!
Look out for Adam Robert lofquist
Love that kW fire truck🚒
i did, too! It has since been replaced.
Sorry, but I think they take it too easy. Wasn´t it an important fire? I thouth all fires were important.
They are. but with a voulnteer fire department it takes a little longer to get going cause the FFs aren't there so they have to leave from home or wherever there at then get to the trucks then respond and go where's a full/part time department has people at the station to just jump in the trucks.
Nice video almost a full house Response
Almost, yes! Thank you!
Ryan Scott Olsen no problem I got the same pager as you
The V is a good pager. I like my VI better, though.
Ryan Scott Olsen nice very good
who pulled up in the truck?
Another Firefighter.
I don't think there were enough trucks responding. Haha lol
But ya know if they'd rather buy cheap European made garbage, then they'll get what they pay for.
code 3? too a grass fire?
Yes, indeed.
Ryan Scott Olsen ugh!!!
those last 2 werent in too much of a hurry
No, they were't. Both grass rigs were deployed, and units were canceled shortly after the Engine left.
Nice Equipment is a yes. A waste is a definite no.
Great video! But shit... the gas prices! 3.49! F that lol
all that for a grass fire ? we roll a utility and a engine only.
+cabell shooter Yes - For every Department it varies on what they roll.
well they did say grass fire spreading rapidly in the page at the beginning.
Are these guys all paid, combination, or volunteer?Over all nice catches!
LFD is a Volunteer Department.
Is that a serious question? They sent 5 apparatus to a grass fire. The answer is obvious.
If you're gonna have the page at the start please give headphone warning
Thank you for the suggestion, Daniel.
Why didnt you respond?
I am not on the Department.
