Mystic is an absolute masterpiece. That unique character is the Harry Traver influence that GCI honors; this coaster is far more like the greats of the 1920s than the vast majority designed and built today. Serpentine, smooth, fast and relentless, it’s perfection. I’m so glad you enjoyed our park!
I got to ride fury 325 and intimidator for the first time last year when we went to Carowinds for my bday. Due to my disability I had to wear a special harness system for both coasters and I could only sit in one spot and we had to wait for the ride manager to set us up due to it being a special restraint but a plus side to that is they allowed us to ride twice back to back even if it was busy if we wanted to (which we did) they are both so much fun
@@TroutTakesThemeParkAdventures it's actually the first time I ever had to have something like that usually they just have me take off my prosthetic (which is why they required the vest) but they have that for anyone who is a below the knee amputee with no ankle. I asked about it and they said they weren't sure exactly but it may be not only for extra safety being I have less leg (even though the restraint didn't even come near my amputatio)but they think it is to also help in the event of an evacuation where they could help me back to get my prosthetic easier because if I remember right I think those who are wheelchair bound require it too (I would have to ask to make sure though). I wish I could have rode copperhead strike though I was looking forward to it and I wasn't allowed on it😭

Yeah from everything I’ve heard over the past couple months it sounds like it’s gotten even worse since I was there in May. A real shame for such a world class coaster.
I too was underwhelmed when I first rode it in 2017. Got a back row ride last week and WOW. Smooth as glass, it flings you around, and it’s nonstop intense.
Finally got to ride a bunch of coasters at cedar point and get on banshee mystic Timbers and Orion. I was just happy to finally get over 100 coaster credits. Velocicoaster and steel vengeance go back and forth as my 1&2 depending on my mood. The most surprising coaster was Mystic Timbers which I wasn’t expecting it to be so wild! It started raining too but wasn’t enough to hurt and it was AMAZING. All the greenery was even more lush and added to the spooky feeling.
Mystic Timbers blew me away this year it’s so much fun and has an amazing ride experience the first time I rode it I was underwhelmed but after riding it this year I was just amazed

Dude we went back row night ride on Steel Vengeance & it was THE BEST coaster experience of my life. You have no idea where you are or which end is up. My husband giggled maniacally the entire ride 😂
If u liked Mystic Timbers, u would love El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ. It's been nominated best wooden coaster in the US for a few years now. N for a great launch, can't beat Kingda Ka as the world record holder for tallest and fastest.
11:55 Dude! Same feeling as you. I've only been to Cedar Point and Michigan's Adventure, so I hadn't gone on any modern wooden coasters. My first ride on Mystic Timbers was so insane, I pushed it to my #1 at King's Island on my first trip. It is still my best ride there. Probably #3 between CP and KI, with Maverick and SV getting #2 and #1.
King's Island is my home park, the Racers are a classic and they have done a ton re-tracking in that last few years. It was getting pretty bad there for a while, but with the worked they have been putting into it, it has regain it's enjoyment. I hope you got some night rides on The Beast, not necessarily the craziest ride, but the night ride is probably one of the best I've been on. Plus it has gotten a lot of new track work this past year so it should be running better then ever.
That definitely makes sense why the Racer felt as good as it did! My first ever Beast ride was a night ride and it’s pretty great. It definitely has grown on me after a few more visits and I get why people love it so much.
I had my first coaster trip this summer and we visited Carowinds for the first time as well! I pretty much agree with you on Fury (although I still have Orion slightly above it) and Copperhead Strike which ended up being one of the best surprises of the whole trip and found its way into my top 10. Valravn is so much fun. Idk if it’s a guilty pleasure but I’ve always had fun on this thing. The vest restraints don’t bother me either (and having ridden Griffon earlier this year I don’t see much improvement with dive coasters having OTSRs) Mystic Timbers has never given me a bad ride and it currently stands as my favorite wooden coaster. I’m hoping to get down to Florida next spring to check out the Orlando parks and BGT for the first time. @@dennmod24 Thanks for sharing and I'm sorry to hear all that. My dad went through a bout of prostate cancer about 10 years ago and he's thankfully ok today but I send my best wishes out to you and your family. I know it has to be rough right now. Life sure hits us with a lot of stuff from all different angles sometimes and it can be tough putting certain plans/hopes/dreams on the backburner, but if anything hopefully these setbacks can help you stay motivated and focused on things you want to accomplish and then it'll feel even better once you're able to do them. I know it's cliche but finding small fragments of positivity can add up to a lot when it's all said and done. As far as going to CP alone, it's more or less all about mindset and I know it's usually better going with friends or family. I go alone most of the time and it was a little boring/lonely at first but I've found it to be very lethargic and peaceful over time. I hope everything works out for the better!🤞👍
Hey does that mean Carowinds potentially has the Best and Worst B&M at the same park? That would be quite a distinction. 🤣I personally don't like B&Ms outside of early inverts so I don't travel for them. It's good to hear about Copperhead Strike, I might need to fly out there.
It sure does mean that 😆 I don’t know if you’d exactly consider it an early invert but they do have Afterburn which is amongst the top inverts I’ve been on so it might make the trip a bit more worthwhile for you.
@@TroutTakesThemeParkAdventures Oh Afterburn counts. The reason I don't like B&Ms is the vast majority of them have a distinctive rhythm. Speed up, slow down, element...Rinse repeat. What's crazy is it doesn't matter if it's wing, hyper, floorless, sitdown, flying, etc. It's that same rhythm it drives me nuts! Not saying they're bad, they aren't, they're just meh to me. But the early inverts are whippy and crazy which is the style of coasters I enjoy the most.
Mystic is still the best wooden coaster I’ve ever been on. Copperhead Strike blew me away for the same reasons as is #4 in my top 10 and is still over Fury for me as well. World class hang time.
When you rode the racer at kings island did you ride blue or red? Kings island is my home park and I can confirm that the blue side is smooth and the red side is like super rough to me.
I think both Vortex coasters opened in like back-to-back years in the early 90s or around the same time at both CGA and Carowinds but they did the floorless conversion for the CGA one, which is now Patriot. I’ve never been out to California but I can’t imagine that Vortex/Patriot being as bad as the one at Carowinds.
I can't speak for them, but usually I test the test seat beforehand and more times than not I can get on the ride even if I can't fit that seat. It's why after the last few trips that I'm trying to rectify that one problem I do have but my height will always be the other major factor for winging it as well
i do love you videos so much, its awesome to see you enjoy yourself, i love it but it hurts sometimes cause the only park i been to was cedar point. and busch gardens tampa once in 1996 when montu first opened. and i was lucky enough to get to ride that first year it opened (one of the luckiest thing i got to do concerning coasters and that's sad) and geaga lake in 1997. and most of the coasters i have to ride alone on. now i been wanting to go to kings island way before even cedar fair took over, i only have about 21 coaster credits and it may stay that way for awhile, i live exactly an hour away from cedar point and maybe 3.0 -3.5 hours from kings island, i had a few chances to go this year and last but they have been ruined. but cedar point i been there many many times but i want to try out other coasters so bad. i been wanting to ride mystic timbers and beast for a very long time it would be my first GCI not to mention orion ,DB and banshee, its my dream to ride that and all the other coasters at Kings island for some time omg i want some mystic timbers so bad your view on it makes me to want to ride it even more. im a coaster enthusiast but i can only go by other peoples views and experiences and rating cause im not able to experience any but do cause of you guys. so watching you guys and seeing you happy is what makes my day. i just don't understand how all these people/family/couples go to like 4-5 parks a year and still keep their job and is able to have time from their job to go. i also want to travel and do rode trips but i just can't afford it. so keep the videos up so i can enjoy you guys and others enjoying yourselves. My time will come soon im hoping but just staying positive
Mystic to me is a bit underwhelming. I wanted to love it but I ended up just liking it, I rank it in the upper middle of the wooden coasters I’ve ridden but I may look for something different than most when it comes to woodies, I like intensity and an out of control feeling. I also like history and have a huge tolerance for roughness. My top 2 wood are Voyage and Hades I even prefer The Beast even though mystic is an objectively better ride lmao.
So here in 2022 normal people like their neck bones in one piece maybe go back to the early 1900s and ride the Crystal Beach cyclone when they're literally were barely restraints on the roller coasters.. oh and a nurses station at the exit gate 🤔
Kings island is a great park and Timbers is in my opinion best in the whole park! Vortex at Carowinds is also what I deem as possibly the worst coaster I've ever ridden, and I have like 4 or more Arrow loopers and 2 Vekoma SLC'S to my credit. Lol
I really enjoyed Rip Ride Rocket. Singing Rainbow Connection along with Kermit while on a decent coaster was a lot of fun. Not saying it is the most thrilling coaster ever, but I don't get the hate for it. Loved Valravn. Front row is the ride though. I am a big dude and don't get the hate for the vest restrainst. So much better than the head banger over the shoulders. I thought Mystic was fun, smooth and forgetable, but to be fair I had ridden the Voyage two day prior and Beast night ride the night before.
@@TroutTakesThemeParkAdventures Hope you make it It is like nothing I have ever ridden. I couldn't marathon it because it is such an extreme ride, and have heard others say similar. It is just barely on the right side of violent. I did get a few rides in that day and would have liked a few more but the family was too tired by the end of the day. #1 or #2 ride on our trip to HW, KI and CP.
@@TroutTakesThemeParkAdventures We went on a Sunday in mid June. Coaster waits weren't bad at all. Water ride waits were 20 to 45 min, but one of the big rides was down. Roller coasters in the afternoon when everyone is in the water park have really short waits. However, Mammoth is a great water coaster. Liked it more than Wildebeast.
KI is a great park. And Mystic Timbers blows my mind no matter how many times I ride it. Orion was a major disappointment for me. Diamondback was a much more exciting ride. Orion & The Racer the only coasters we went on that disappointed me. It should have been on par with Millennium Force, but honestly it was about as exciting for me as The Bat. Lol. And The Racer is ok as just an old woodie, but as a racing coaster it sucks. Little to no ability to interact with the competing train. Maybe I've just been spoiled by The Gemini for my entire life.
Interesting I find Orion a lot more enjoyable than Diamondback. The elements are stronger and more unique. The rattle on diamondback isn't great either
Agree with you on Vortex it's terrible but dude Copperhead #1??? Come on over Fury and Steel Vengeance and Lightning Rod!!!!! You bugging. Have you ever been on Lightning Rod? Best wooden coaster ever!! Fast fun with furious airtime. Those are my top 3.
I have no doubt that Lightning Rod would make my top 5 based on the coasters I’ve been on. Hopefully will be getting down to Dollywood next year. But Copperhead is not my #1 coaster, it’s just the coaster that surprised me the most this year so far. I’m putting the finishing touches on my official top 15 coaster rankings video and should have it posted by tomorrow so keep an eye out if you’re interested 😀
@@TroutTakesThemeParkAdventures if you go to Dollywood also check out Mystery Mine. Elements are cool inside and outside. Had me laughing the whole time. Completely different experience.
I like the Beast a lot the more I ride it, but I’ve only been on it like 5 times. First ever ride was a night ride and it was fun, nothing life changing but just good fun and I can see why it has a hardcore following due to the entire unique experience it gives.
Have you ridden Mystic Timbers? Stats aren't everything. Mystic Timbers is much more intense than Orion, it's nonstop laterals and airtime till the brake run.
@@AdamSmith-gs2dv both Kings Island and Cedar Point are my home parks. I'm in Columbus so I'm right between both of them and have season passes. Mystic timbers isn't even in the same category as Orion. It's not even in the top 5 of its respective park to compare.
@@thepropertyelves Mystic has its loyalists, myself included- hell, I carry a season FLP+ almost specifically for the sake of hopping on this little marvel repeatedly after work. I *adore* Orion, don’t get me wrong, but Mystic is profoundly unique and incredibly exhilarating. A night ride after a rainstorm? Total bliss.
I see why it might be confusing. Best and worst surprises for me in 2022 essentially. I can’t get overly descriptive w the title due to the character limit. You’re correct about Vortex at Kings Island. The Vortex discussed is at Carowinds.
@@TroutTakesThemeParkAdventures oh wow, sorry I missed that and had no clue they had one or got kings islands old one. I hated that coaster. Banged my head as well and always got off feeling disoriented. Love kings island though
Fury was my biggest disappointment ever. I would rather ride a wild mouse 100 times, and I only like copperhead strike in the front row, any other row I don't like.
Young enthusiasts are so wimpy. I mean I'm only 25 but I think unlike many enthusiasts younger than me I got to ride alot of crap they didn't get to ride. Mystic Timbers is not rough for a wooden coaster, if you want a rough wooden coaster go ride Hades 360
We rode every coaster yesterday. The only one worse that Mystic was Adventure Express. I rode Mean Streak when it was at Cedar Point and I did not think that was rough. Mystic was a disappointment for me
Fury 325 is way better than copperhead strike!!! Ch strike is slow barley gets through the loops without almost stopping it ok but no way better than fury 325

i do love you videos so much, its awesome to see you enjoy yourself, i love it but it hurts sometimes cause the only park i been to was cedar point. and busch gardens tampa once in 1996 when montu first opened. and i was lucky enough to get to ride that first year it opened (one of the luckiest thing i got to do concerning coasters and that's sad) and geaga lake in 1997. and most of the coasters i have to ride alone on. now i been wanting to go to kings island way before even cedar fair took over, i only have about 21 coaster credits and it may stay that way for awhile, i live exactly an hour away from cedar point and maybe 3.0 -3.5 hours from kings island, i had a few chances to go this year and last but they have been ruined. but cedar point i been there many many times but i want to try out other coasters so bad. i been wanting to ride mystic timbers and beast for a very long time it would be my first GCI not to mention orion ,DB and banshee, its my dream to ride that and all the other coasters at Kings island for some time omg i want some mystic timbers so bad your view on it makes me to want to ride it even more. im a coaster enthusiast but i can only go by other peoples views and experiences and rating cause im not able to experience any but do cause of you guys. so watching you guys and seeing you happy is what makes my day. i just don't understand how all these people/family/couples go to like 4-5 parks a year and still keep their job and is able to have time from their job to go. i also want to travel and do rode trips but i just can't afford it. so keep the videos up so i can enjoy you guys and others enjoying yourselves.
@@touchblackproductions2559 I’ll ride anything rough, even your mom
Honestly I've never enjoyed riding stand up coasters. I always feel super short when I get off. Just don't have the amount of G's I expect.
Kings island is a great park and Timbers is in my opinion best in the whole park! Vortex at Carowinds is also what I deem as possibly the worst coaster I've ever ridden, and I have like 4 or more Arrow loopers and 2 Vekoma SLC'S to my credit. Lol
Is Fury better than i305?
Never been on I305 but I’ll be heading over to Kings Dominion in a couple weeks😀
Nice! I’ll hopefully be riding Voyage for the 1st time next week 🤞
Great to hear I’m pumped! How were the waits at Holiday World if you don’t mind me asking?
Gemini is my all time sentimental favorite and yeah we probably are spoiled having grown up riding it at CP and I’m 100% ok with that! 👍
I find it crazy that vortex is you bum 2
It truly was probably the worst ride I’ve ever had on any coaster. 🤕
Valravn should of been Yukon Striker
What was your take on "The Beast"?
I like the Beast a lot the more I ride it, but I’ve only been on it like 5 times. First ever ride was a night ride and it was fun, nothing life changing but just good fun and I can see why it has a hardcore following due to the entire unique experience it gives.
@@TroutTakesThemeParkAdventures glad you enjoyed it! For a woody it's one of my favs!
Dude what?? Yes it sounds like you're bashing Orion. And how can you put Mystic timbers up with it?
Mystic Timbers is the best coaster in Ohio change my mind and it’s my personal #1
It’s such a great coaster and that definitely says a lot if it’s your #1!
@@TroutTakesThemeParkAdventures it’s definitely an amazing ride
I'm confused how this is best and worst of 22. vortex isn't even at kings island in 22
I see why it might be confusing.
Oh danggggg
I just road Mystic Timbers today. Not smooth at all and will not be riding it again
Mystic was a disappointment for me
Mystic isn’t rough by any means, it feels rough, but that’s because it’s insane
Fury 325 is way better than copperhead strike!!! Ch strike is slow barley gets through the loops without almost stopping it ok but no way better than fury 325
Fury is great for sure! Barely making it through the loops is exactly why I love Copperhead Strike 😃
no one is a vortex fan i promise
Strange reviews.
Indeed 😀
You loved Hollywood Rip bullshit and Kraken but you were underwhelmed by Fury? That’s where i quit watching.
Exactly. Super high expectations for Fury and the morning rides felt slow. Afternoon rides were completely different and amazing. Super low expectations for the other two coasters and they were surprisingly enjoyable.
