Hello. No, the phone won't do anything. It's like you're plugging a memory card into it. The phone's battery also does not drain, since you need to use an adapter to power the hard drive. Have a nice day ☺️❤️

Anyone who has a few old hard drives from their old computers probably still has a computer and would connect them to that. This is a waste of time for most normal people.
Actually, no. I don't have an old computer but I'm planning to buy HDD sata to usb to backup my phone instead of thumb drives or ssds because they corrupt very easily and I lose data on them frequently.
Good old HDD can withstand the test of time & keep all my backup achieved for years to come without having to worry about data erosion or corruption.
