FYI on a 1990 the ground wire on the New Fan is the blue/yellow one and the red/white wire is the positive one. One the car black is negative and black/blue is positive. Fan came with two plugs on it but the passenger side was not the correct one. Had to use the original connector. Had to search high and low to find out which was which. Hope this helps someone else in the future.
I did exactly as he said... I began draining my radiator and then was going to get some coolant while it was draining, only problem I needed my car to go get the coolant! Felt real smart after that...
excellent video. when i replaced the radiator on my 1990 miata, i found 2 ports on the bottom when i determined were for cooling transmission fluid. this video must be for manual transmission, but still very helpful.
He mentioned it briefly towards the end but do you leave the radiator cap off when you start the car up to turn on the heat and don't put it on until you feel heat from the vents?
That is a possibility. In order to properly purge the system of air, you need to turn your heater on, to cycle coolant through the heater core. Otherwise you may have air bubbles trapped in your system, which could cause overheating.
Hello! We did not include that step in this particular video - thanks for pointing that out. The A/C lines will attach to the Mishimoto radiator as they do the factory unit.
I got an mx5 also at home but tbh the standard radiator is more then enough for cooling... 30°C in the summer reving it all the way to 6000 rpm manny times uphill never gets to hot. Mx5's have a big radiator for the size engine it is.
oli sopher Sorry for the delay in response! If your car is indeed a non-A/C model then it is very unlikely that the wiring exists for the second fan. Some have simply tapped the wires from the primary fan and used them for both slim fans but this usually overloads the factory relay and causes issues. I would recommend setting up a dedicated second relay for the passenger side fan. This will require 12v power, 12v ignition signal, ground and a signal from the factory fan switch. Tapping from the factory switch to a new relay will ensure that both fans activate at the same time. The drivers side fan can pull the power and ground from that body harness, but I would not recommend using this harness to power both fans. Let us know if you have any further questions!
Does anyone know if this radiator and fan shroud fit with the Jackson racing cold air intake? Loved the video! Can't wait to get mine ordered and installed.
I replaced the coolant temp sensor and i got the x line performance rad and fan shrout . I changes the fuse as well and the driver fan or ac doesnt come one . I rewired it twice and nothing ? Did i not bleed the system properly? My temp thermostat works and cluster too. Any advice??
I actually had the fans tested on a 12v battery and they didnt click or spin , so i filled out the warrante application to send it in and get it repaired , however i replaced everyother component so i dont have to worry about it down the road . Thanks !
it was a tight fit for me today, and only one of the ac lines bolted back in to the new radiator. i also had to remove some intake pipe to fit it in. i also removed the upper mount rubber because the extra thickness of the new rad and stock fans meant it flexed too much so i just bolted it straight into the mount
new rad and fans new hoses ran great on freeway but once I had to stop in traffic for 5 minutes it started to overheat I was told I should of put a after market water temp gauge kit in at the same time as new Rad. I didn't see that done here so whats up? is this true or just another money making idea from mechanic. He said the fans that came with the new radiator were to small and need this other device....
+Terry D. Sounds like something else may be going on. Can you please email support@mishimoto.com so that our customer service team can look into this for you?
Bad design for MAZDA RX-8 It doesn't fit a lot of design mistakes. the screw hols doesn't match with OEM. the OEM brackets does not fit also if you try to make them fit you will damage the radiator.
Hello Sam Leary . This particular fan shroud is designed to fit both your OEM radiator as well as a Mishimoto performance unit so you'd have no problems at all :)

You just saved me so much trouble. Thank you so much!
Thank you. Saved me a bunch of time.
I love you so much
im getting ready to upgrade from my oem radiator and wanted to thank you as well i was anxious looking at those different colored wires. THANK YOU!
I did exactly as he said... I began draining my radiator and then was going to get some coolant while it was draining, only problem I needed my car to go get the coolant! Felt real smart after that...
This was super helpful! Thank you for taking the time to produce this and upload it! -Z

I notice you didn't bolt the AC lines back on is it simply not needed or is this a missed step?

thanks I found that out as I was fitting the unit. great product but wow is space tight after putting everything back in.

Hi, I was just curious if I could use my 1 stock fan on the radiator?
yes i did it. read above for more info from me
do the stock radiator fans have to be modified to fit this product?
Should you flush the whole system several times before changing the radiator and adding fresh coolant?
This is not necessary unless you believe there are contaminants in the system.
@@mishimoto I think the car was sat for a number of years with same fluid so probably should I guess!
Damn didn't know it was that easy to take it out. Thank you jesus
No, your stock fans will work with our radiator! :)
Where do I get one of those reservoir clear tubes to the radiator?
I got an mx5 also at home but tbh the standard radiator is more then enough for cooling... 30°C in the summer reving it all the way to 6000 rpm manny times uphill never gets to hot. Mx5's have a big radiator for the size engine it is.
the only time my temperature gauge raised, was when doing 200 kmph on the highway for half an hour
I Have these fans on my MX-5 and they definitely keeps thing cool ; )
when installing the dual fan shroud on to a miata that only had one OEM fan, how does all the wiring connect up?

Does replacing the radiator really take all that time?
how much would the radiator and fans cost? thanks
Would you have to tune the ECU because of change of flow or anything like that?
No need, the thermostat will still regulate temperature as usual, this allows the system to handle more abuse overall.
If I buy a radiator, am I going to get it with a bunch of bent fins?
That thing looks kind of dinged up..
+Woofalot definitely not! Our rads our manufactured from the highest quality aluminum and backed by our Lifetime Warranty!
Can i reuse the stock fan shroud with this radiator?
Tight fit, but I managed to use original fans with my Mishimoto Rad
Just spent 6 hours trying to do just this on my NA 1.6. How. The. Hell did you do it sir?
i think i need a new heater core my ac and heater didnt and still dont work since i bought the car. but i have both
Can i just use stock radiator fans?
Yes

What if my heater doesn't work to begin with
If they resprayed the whole car then why not the underside of the hood?
These wiring instructions don't work on the 99-05 kit. The fans have 4 wires each on my '04 MSM
+Michael David it clearly says 90-97 man! I'm sure theres one for an '04 somewhere tough!
Excellent Tutorial!
SOLD!
Great video!
Yum, I want this in my life.
Great video
Great info, thanks!
Maybe cuz it's for a Miata not an rx-8

alright thank!!

Can I install these fans on a stock rad?
