But he was nominated with Tom Cruise in Magnolia, Haley Joel Osment in the Sixth Sense and (the winner) Michael Caine. That's some pretty stiff competition.
The movie or the TV show? Because I haven't seen the show, so I wouldn't know, but I remember really enjoying It the movie, even if it wasn't as much as the books.
My list #10 Margaret White (Carrie) #9 Arnie Cunningham (Christine) #8 Mrs. Carmody (The Mist) #7 Cujo (Cujo) #6 Charlie McGee (Firestarter) #5 Kurt Barlow ('Salem's Lot) #4 Annie Wilkes (Misery) #3 Jack Torrance (The Shining) #2 Carrie White (Carrie) Honorable Mentions: Randall Flagg (The Stand), Christine (Christine), Danny Torrance (The Shining), Gage Creed (Pet Sematary), Isaac Croner (Children of the Corn) #1....... Pennywise the Dancing Clown (It)
Thank you for your inclusion of Randall Flagg from "The Stand". Jamie Sheridan did an excellent job of portraying evil as both charismatic and frightening.
Watching this, I was struck by how many of the performers in the films have passed on: Richard Dawson, River Phoenix, Brad Renfro, Michael Clarke Duncan, Harry Anderson, Michael Jeter, John Ritter and Jonathan Brandis have all died...
I like Curry's Pennywise for the hilarious factor. But Skargard in my opinion does bring more creepiness to it, when the script doesn't make him impersonate FNAF that is.
Onikira Dokuro same Curry thoughts = funny, creepy, only 20% friendly, mostly only focuses on appearing anywhere trying to scare ppl Skarsgard = creepy, only 1% friendly, will focus on only trying to eat anyone anywhere
***** lol love it. Morgan's voice: no one knew that such a small change in his daily routine would lead to the shocking discovery of being out of post it notes.
Hockey Badger 6 Me: Commenters, if you come with me you'll float too. Commenters: What? Me (Flesh Falling Of My Skin): You'll float too!!! (x9) Me (Only with my skeleton): YOU'LL FLOAT TOO!!!
The shinning is one of the best films of all time.. Maybe a bad adaptation but a brilliant film on its own and that's enough for me. Same goes with Carrie.
Annie Wilkes should have been number one. She was a much better character than Jack Torrence. I'll concede that The Shining was the better movie, but Annie was the scarier character.
+Toasty the ghost i hope it too.I cant be a day without looking at one watchmojo vídeo its like a drug, though some recent vídeos havent been really interesting
Christine is still one of my all time favorite Stephen King movies. I was in love with that car and many of that era with that body style back then, also the red and white color scheme to me was perfect. It was my dream car. After seeing what King did with it, my little mind was blown by the idea of the car being sentient. I didn't even get that it was supposed to be a horror flick. The pain and rage I felt as those assholes destroyed it and shat in it was soon washed away as I saw her put herself back together. Still to this day that sequence is amazing. I've never looked into how they shot that for not wanting to spoil the effect, but I can say for a fact that whatever technique they used then puts to shame so much of the stuff that these studios put out today The only bad thing I ever have to say about the movie is that I never got the sequel that I wanted and believed was coming. My heart still longs for one, even a remake, but with how things are done now, I think I'll stick with the original. Would anyone else like to see either a sequel or a remake of Christine?
The stand by far shows how well Stephen King can write 3 dimensional characters. I can't believe randall flag wasn't on the list, let alone the Honourable mentions.
@@brainerror3168 Um... Stand by Me is coming of age a film based on Stephen King's novel, The Body. The Stand is an apocalyptic novel by him. Additionally the miniseries of The Stand was generally regarded as mediocre, and although the book was great, this list is not about the characters King portrayed, but the characters the adaptations portrayed.
" Born in Lust, Turn to Dust. Born in Sin, Come on In." " What really happened in Roanoke in 1587? And what happened here on Little Tall Island in 1989? We may never know. " " I'm a little teapot, short and stout / here is my handle, here is my spout / when I get all steamed up, hear me shout / "Just tip me over and pour me out!" Andy Dufresne(Tim Robbins) from Shawshank Redemption is my favorite character from all the Stephen King books. He is just so well written and the movie is also amazing.
You know the great thing about Stephen King movies? They always pick such amazing actors. Like Tom Hanks and Kathy Bates and Morgan Freeman. Oh and Tim Curry
I agree with quite a few that are on the list. I know that The Stand is only a mini series with no plans yet on a motion picture but Randall Flagg is Top 5 easy!
Jamey Sheridan's "Randell Flagg" from The Stand miniseries should've at least got an honorable mention, as should Ron Pearlman's charactor (can't remember his name) from Desperation. Oh well.
Simon Stevens No it wasn't just that. I'm able to be corrected, I was pretty sure I'd spelled it wrong to begin with. It was the extra bit about the character being named Collie. Now I can't say for sure but, it's a reasonable assumption that if someone was asking about Ron Pearlman's character in "Desperation" they meant the possessed part and not Collie. Now I'll ask you something, what book was "Desperation" directly connected to and who was it written by?
I was trying to compile a list of all the Stephen King movies that have been made, and I always miss some. There are SO MANY. I can't think of another author who has gotten that much of their work to the big screen.
I haven't watched a lot of King's adaptations, but so far my favorites are: 7. Dolores (Dolores Claiborne) 6. Johnny Smith (The Dead Zone) 5. Beverly Marsh (IT) 4. John Coffey (The Green Mile) 3. Andy Dufresne (Shawshank) 2. Ellis 'Red' Redding (Shawshank) 1. Annie Wilkes (Misery)
I've been a huge Stephen King fan since middle school so for over 20yrs. And I've read EVERY BOOK he has EVER put out. I used to live in Bangor, Maine and resided only four (4) streets down from him. I think that the character of CARRIE WHITE should've been #1 and that Morgan Freeman of "The Shawshank Redemption" should've been #2 but with so many characters to choose from...I get why it was difficult to choose. Stephen King, in MY opinion, is one of the greatest authors of ALL TIME and I'm just so very proud to be from the state of Maine as he is
My top 5 favorite: 5. John Coffey - gentle giant and simply sympathetic 4. Pennywise (1990& 2017) 3. Carrie (1976) - extremely sympathetic, beautiful, pretty , sweet , nice and overall makes you wanna root for her even when she gets revenge . Good job sissy !! 2. Red 1. I would have picked Pennywise as #1, if it wasn't for your 4, 3, 2, & 1 picks. I can't argue with this one Mojo. Even your honorable mentions were spot on. Well done.
Did you really need to put Pennywise on the freakin title card (or whatever its called)? That still is the source of my nightmares over 20 years later...
Steven King rocks! He makes movies that aren't just scary but thoughtfully weird too like The Green Mile. I just realized how much Running Man reminds me of The Hunger Games!
What about Colm Feore as Andre Linoge in Storm of the Century,. That ending where Tim Daly sees his son for a split second on the street after losing him a decade earlier and him being the only townsperson willing to stand up to Linoge is so chilling.
It's so much better. Misery is still good, but they had to tone down several parts because they were too gruesome. I'm still bummed the hobbling went from dismemberment to broken ankles
RIP Michael Clarke Duncan. You were truly a 'gentle giant'.
He was a very good actor.
Pennywise should be higher. He's the reason why so many people are afraid of clowns.
Agreed. Pennywise, next to Flagg and Roland, is pretty much the poster boy of King novelty
I'm not afraid of clowns just that one damn clown he terrorized my childhood
Agreed!
Same I use to be scared of him
Same I use to be scared of him
Annie Wilkes is probably the greatest suspense antagonist in history, and Kathy bates brought her to life PERFECTLY
Who else thinks that it was very satifying when carrie killed everybody ?
Me lmao
I honestly think Carrie should have killed the people who has been tormented her, but I can understand why she killed everyone.
The Game Maniac 3D Me, and they deserved it
No I only thought it was satisfying when they poured the bucket of pig blood on her
Ah yes
I feel like Michael Clarke Duncan was robbed of an Oscar. His performance was INTENSE.
dragonheart8706 agreed
That whole category was STACKED that year!
He definitely was smh. RIP Mr. Duncan.
This was the first time I saw that seen and I almost cried when he said he said he was scared of the dark
But he was nominated with Tom Cruise in Magnolia, Haley Joel Osment in the Sixth Sense and (the winner) Michael Caine. That's some pretty stiff competition.
Knew Pennywise would be up there. Soooooo good.
Well...it was on the thumbnail
Stephen King's It really isn't a good show. It's laughable
The movie or the TV show? Because I haven't seen the show, so I wouldn't know, but I remember really enjoying It the movie, even if it wasn't as much as the books.

Chris Chambers definitely deserves a spot on that list.
Lmao who doesn't like Gage xD
Thank you for your inclusion of Randall Flagg from "The Stand". Jamie Sheridan did an excellent job of portraying evil as both charismatic and frightening.
Tim Curry makes everything better, even the crappiest stuff.
his best work is without a doubt frank n furter

I'm so glad you've included Marcia Gay Harden's performance in The Mist. It is enormously overlooked.
seeing Tim Curry's fantastic portrayal turned me into a Constant Reader, at 10 years old. he's my #1.
Same. I started reading King at 11
I started at 13. My first novel was the Shining.
i love Chris Chambers from "Stand by me" and i was crying so much like half an hour when he died :(
Gonzalita same his chars really spoke to me
When Gage Creed whimpered "No fair,no fair" and then fell,I admit,I teared up.That was a sad ending,a dad putting what looks like his son down.
Ps - “here’s Johnny!”...... probably the most infamous line in all of horror movie history, and also one of my favourite movies!
The shinning is one of the best films of all time.. Maybe a bad adaptation but a brilliant film on its own and that's enough for me. Same goes with Carrie.
La_trolette nigtmare on elm street is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better
Dude what does that have to do with Stephen King ?
La_Trolette misery is good too
Did you put the shinning cuz you didn't want to get sued The Simpsons reference
It wasn't bad, the direction was magnificent, Stephen king didn't like this version only
I love Stand by Me, Green Mile, IT, The Shinning, Shawshank Redemption, Christine, and Carrie
Annie Wilkes should have been number one. She was a much better character than Jack Torrence. I'll concede that The Shining was the better movie, but Annie was the scarier character.
Bradley Fortner tbh I like Kathy Bates' acting more than Nicholson's.
This isn't "top Ten Scariest Steven King Characters."
