      I guess the TERM 'motorhome' wasn't used 'till about the 1960s... But 'House Car" was used as early as the 'Teens.

    If you’re going to tow it somewhere and leave it, make sure you have a good mobile service tech. Most manufacturers recommend checking the roof seals every 3 months, and replace the roof seals as needed, which will cost somewhere between $500-$800 to have done professionally. They don’t tell you about the amount of maintenance costs when you buy them, and a lot of people buy them only thinking about payments.

    • @GG-jiggles
      @GG-jiggles 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      oh wow didn't think of that, What other maintenance is there to consider?

    • @Dan-iv9tg
      @Dan-iv9tg 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@GG-jiggles If you live somewhere cold, where the temperature ever dips below freezing, you have to winterize it, or your plumbing will freeze and break. Most insurance policies include an exclusion for freezing. Some people do that themselves, but if you don’t know what you’re doing, it can totally ruin your unit. Your unit should come with an owner’s manual. Do yourself a favor, and read it. The 3 month roof check provision is hidden on one page deep in the manual like a dirty secret, but it’s as crucial as changing the oil in your car regularly.
      Also, a reputable RV shop will guarantee a roof reseal for 1 year. So, if they reseal it, and it leaks within the year, they should fix the leak and hopefully any resulting damage.

    We have this destination trailer at a campground in Wisconsin. The campground doesn’t allow park models, so this trailer is perfect for us. The campground is open May-October. We stayed 75 days last year. We had the dealership deliver it and set it up. We have a awning and deck. The bedroom is on the small side but it has plenty of storage. There is a closet with washer/dryer hookup. The window blinds are room darkening and block a lot of heat from the sun. We have two air conditioners and there has been no problem keeping it cool.
    We are empty nesters but our adult kids come to visit us. The upstairs loft above the bedroom can fit a Pack N Play travel crib. The loft over the bathroom is shorter height but good enough for a grandkid to sleep in. My son is 6’4” he hasn’t complained about the height in the shower stall. He probably knows if he complained I’d tell him to go to the bath house in the campground. Lol! We also have a powerful electric vent in the bathroom that does a great job. The couch in the living area opens up to queen size. It’s not comfortable so we add an air mattress to it.
    Yes, we’ve had some repairs done in the first year of owning it. It’s frustrating how things get overlooked in the building process.

      @danking5382 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@claytonphillips2930 I've worked on rvs for a good 7 years now and a lot of warranty work, and there warranty stuff absolutely blows. I just got done doing 2 fresh tanks on one, where the tanks fell out when he was sleeping at a walmart and they denied it stating "You cant haul your trailer around with water in the tanks". I have another right now where the whole side of the trailer is coming down, and looks like its falling to the right. I actually have no idea why, but every hanger on the bottom bent, and they are denying this customer. Hes trying to take them to court because its 2019-2020. But with all that being said Almost every trailer is the same to an extent. Jayco's are almost the cheaper trailers i really wouldnt recommend living in one every day/night. If your trying to live in one i'd personally go with grand design, they are really nice trailers, a lot of features, good warranty process, and built quite well. Thats my 2 cents. Just note not every forest river is a bad trailer, i will say tho i believe i work on more forest river trailers and jayco trailers out of all of them. I sure do love when i get a grand design fifth wheel tho lol. Just stay away from the schwintek slide systems, almost all trailers are starting to have atleast one, but yeah stay away from schwintek slides, ive atleast rebuilt a dozen of those things just this year and about to do another.

One, the middle loft upstairs had less ceiling height than of the front loft - great if you wanted a storage room. Two, the bathroom had no window, OR FAN. I asked where did the smell or steam go? He offered to install a free fan. Three, the front bed was only a queen plus I found it to be a little tight to move around. Decided to purchase the 40 foot loft model. The master is at the rear of the trailer and has a king bed - still a bit tight to move around, but got a king bed. Rear loft is about the same height and size as this model's front loft. Same living space, if not more, than this model.

      A lot of trailers in the 14k pound range only have 2 axles. It being a bumper pull might affect that a little bit more because more of the weight will be on the axles. But it's not really 'that' bad.

      Number of axles isn’t an issue. It’s how much weight they’re rated for

    The downstairs is nice but I am way too claustrophobic for those crawlspaces they are trying to pass off as rooms, lol

    Wow, if I ever wanted to buy a piece of property and settle down, that would be the rig to put there. Love, love those windows.

    That blows me away.I wonder about its durability as far as long term seasonal living

      It can withstand long term living. Family had one parked up on the great lakes off Wisconsin. They bought and moved it in going Ice fishing, summer camping, and so forth for months at a time. Held onto it till 3 years ago when they sold the trailer for what they paid. Wasnt trashed and well upkept.
