"All of these distances are based on anthropology and ergonomics." Clearly. They are, alas, not based on the reality of NYC apartments. Please Olga, can you make suggestions for those less-than-ideal space constraints many of us face. Thanks for another great video.

I love that book it is so useful, I’m really into knowing the measurements needed to place furniture in a room. I agree measures are so important 👍🏼

Great tips. My living room is very small, and you said “unless” try not to put furniture against the wall. This helps me a great deal.

Great video!! I have a question, my office space is too long and narrow room, with a window. Its difficult to place furniture, it always look narrow. Its all in one side of the room, including my desk space. I think the idea of stay way furniture wals looks wright... And there is the problem of light. Should place the desk with the light from left or right? It realy help if you could make a video about home offices. Thanks!

I’m re-arranging my home gym in the basement. Is there an app where I can draw the floor layout and then create shapes for various equipment - power rack, functional trainer - and arrange them in the space?

Thanks Olga, very useful tips! I second Kim Dramer - small (micro?) apartments are a challenge in design, and a reality with a lot of constraints. Please could you share your thoughts on taking this on - it would really help. Thanks for the video

I’ve been watching several videos on arranging furniture and no one seems to have my issues. 4 doors to the family room, huge fireplace takes up one wall, a closet door, and opposite of fireplace wall is a wall of cabinets and closet. It’s a big room but difficult. After hurricane Ian we had leaking and drywall damage so we gutted the room. Added lighting in ceiling, and more electrical switches and outlets, but trying to figure out a new furniture placement is overwhelming and stressful - watching from Lake Wales, Florida

Is it possible to have two focal points??? For instance big windows showing off a view plus a fireplace in the wall in a great room.

Can you please, PLEASE discuss door design. Most homes have builder grade doors. Boring! There are so many to choose from. But what style door will suit my decor, whatever that style may be?

Hi Olga, it would be so useful to add metric system as well to videos like this. Even if it is a super on screen, it would make it so much more tangible for is non-imperial system people! Great content as always

I have a question because we have a fireplace estimate for the boy with the Rockwall important in my fiancé has oversize leather recliner couches are tall I wanted to float one couch to make the fireplace a focal point but it also has a TV that he does not want to put over the fireplace so it’s on the side of the fireplace and the other side has some decor but it’s unbalanced. It drives me nuts to create some symmetry by placing the TV on an elevator log but another log doesn’t fit it on the other side to put maybe books. Also he has a lot of beautiful hunter type pieces and bears she’s never really been put together well I’ve kind of collected a lot of the stuff throughout the house to put it into that room but he has hideous play animals by Friday that will put more than one in one spot doesn’t like them stacked help help help

What if there are two focal points? Our living room has a fireplace yet on the opposite wall is a large window with a view of the mountains. Is there a way to arrange furnishings to view both directions? Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

As I said in this video... if your room is large enough, then yes, you can have multiple arrangements of furniture. And if you check out my focal points video, I discuss having more than one focal point. Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/vMsB1-YX3z4/w-d-xo.html
Good luck! And thanks for watching!

@@Designchickee I watched the video several times and yes you mentioned multiple arrangements of furniture but never mentioned multiple focal points. You said “focal point”, not focal points. The other video, number 13, did reference focal points and was helpful. Thank you.
