--- FIRST OFF A. FANTASTIC SCRIPT EVERY RADIO. ACTOR WITH EVERY EMOTION THEY SPOKE WAS JUST, TREMDOUS. NOW IF THE BBC GAVE.OUT, AWARDS ? EVERY RADIO ACTOR WOULD DESERVE AN AWARD. THAT IS HOW FABULOUS THIS PLAY IN ------ A. WHOLE !!! (( IT. REALLY IS )) !!!
The script was fantastic. And of course the actor for even better But just imagine if there was a part 2 to this play and he told the truth about ---- bunker 29 ? Damn that would be a good movie.
De Witt's accent is the most attocious the BBC has ever put forth. Every man in Holland will shudder at the ineptitude of the voice actor's attempts. I laughed so much on hearing it.
I did wonder about his origins. I remember when a plane was hijacked at Schipol airport for some days I think in the 70s and all we did was to go and look - really bad taste!
An excellent example of the eighth plot, namely the idealist who returns as a realist which also disproves the assertion that seven can say it all. ps imo it is another example which highlights the relentless shortening of radio drama on the beeb in order to pack more into the schedule. Sure the 'story' could be told between 14:15 and 15:00 but so much of the power would be lost.
I agree. One character is either too loud or too quiet relative to the other one. Makes it very NOT suited to fall asleep to since the volume has to be constantly adjusted. The problem isn't with the actual recording quality but with the directions to the actors and mic placement at the original time this was made.
I have to say the Dutch/German accents were terrible. I couldn't tell what they were supposed to be. A good yarn though and I enjoyed the story. The sound was terrible with lots of hissing and interference in the background unfortunately.
Thanks for uploading - really appreciated - but this play wasn't really involving or interesting. Pity, because Patrick Mower is a great actor and usually steals the show.

Typical BBC excellent quality. They really create the " theater of the mind ".
Absolutely. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
Virgil J Jacas I totally agree!
Brilliant stuff! Tehy don't make stuff like this anymore. I invite you to visit my Fireplace stories as well. Thanks!
@@thiswholeotherchannel66 Very true, they don't, instead they import rubbish plays.
Brilliant, love these old English plays, they are so atmospheric and life like.Acting as it's best.Thankyou muchly
Very interesting and very pertinent. Thank you.
Hilarious accent! How did the other actors stop themselves from lsughing. Reminds me of Peter Sellars French accent in Pink Panther.
A relative of mine was in the cast. Thank goodness he wasn't the one with that dreadful accent!😊

That picture is creepy!
Using it to learn more English, pretty good
Excellent pre-woke BBC drama!
Too close to the reality of today
The sound levels are so drastic & distorted.
I believe it's the best available recording.

@@RSEFXThe sound was fine for me. Strange.

For me, the sound quality was as good as it gets in these plays.
Very bad sound quality
TOO QUIET.

Wtf psychedelic accents …
A well done play, as expected from those era of the BBC. But propaganda under the guise of entertainment non the less.
