question how they ensure those bridge piers are in the correct position ??
This is the job of the surveyors who make sure the piers and other components are accurately at their positions.
Not sure the arch bridges have much to do with tension
Stand at the very edge of one, look down, and the tension will come.
the arch is in compression the cable stay in in tension, they form very similar shapes
@@BrendanHasty I was referring to the arch bridges where the arch is located under the bridge deck with the exception being inverted arches
Good contents on bridge design and the simple analysis of the transfer moments. The invert arch bridge was a bit difficult.
