I'm a major fan of the film White Christmas and love the subtle (and not so subtle) nods--the train, the snow song, and Cecily looks like Judy from the movie!
Cecily Shines in this. Also I love the "get up and go mentality of the cast because they are around seasoned professional. There's a reverence around this episode that must be acknowledged. It's like Carson popping in on Letterman. I love the respect.
As soon as they started talking about sleeping in order to survive the winter, I realized it was the "singing girls turn out to be raccoons who made a Christmas wish" premise all over again. Except that when they brought out the bag of nuts, I thought they were going to turn out to be squirrels.
A great spoof of one of my favorite scenes in "White Christmas" And the twist at the end with them truly being bears is a classic SNL absurd ending. P.S. I'm from Buffalo and yes, it is snowing. Lol Merry Christmas you bears! 🎄🧸
~This is my favorite skit of the night, (mostly because of Cecily singing!)~ And it's cool to see Kenan and Cecily, the most experienced and long-time members of the cast, with Steve and Martin... I had a happy feeling about where this skit was going, when they said "they lived in the woods," and "slept through the snowy times"~ and Cecily's gruff voice when protecting their nuts!~ It is very similar and just as good as the "Singing Sisters" sketch from 7 years ago!~
That was the most beautiful musical sketch that I've ever heard. I loved it. Congrats to Steve Martin and Martin Short hosting the show for their 16th time and 4th time. ❤♥🥰
When I was watching this I thought of my grandparents. But this is one of the funniest things I ever seen Western New Yorker I do not want snow on Christmas but it always snows on Christmas Eve
I haven't laughed this much at SNL in decades. Everyone is great, and the writers did a great job too. This skit was slow start with a great payoff, something so rare on SNL.
My favorite holiday movie is White Christmas. Just the thought that someone else in the world might make a Snow reference makes me a little bit happier.
Steve Martin and John Candy filmed some of Trains, Planes and Automobiles here in the Buffalo area for the snow. They both stopped into an Ulbrich's bookstore where a friend of mine managed and signed autographs and spoke to everyone. My friend, who was manager, was re-arranging the front window and when he looked up Steve Martin and John Candy were staring at him. He said they were both really nice men. The first comedian I ever saw was Steve Martin at Geneseo College for $1. Best show I ever saw. He's still got it.
Funny I watched this sketch this morning and laughed. Then tonight I watched White Christmas for the first time and realized the sketch was a parody of the train scene in that movie. When Rosemary Clooney sang about washing her face with snow all I could think about was Cecily singing about washing her ass with snow.
This skit is even better the second time you watch it and are in on the joke. It's very well written, and really charming! Now I want to watch the bears make an attempt every year until they do it!
Martin’s reaction to Steve’s off-key singing was priceless!
1:22
0:58 Martin's singing was pretty off there too which made it funny
Cecily’s voice was great though.

To anyone who isn't familiar with the scene in White Christmas where they're on the train and sing the Snow song... this skit nails it!
It's also a call back to the racoon skit - one of my favorites.
The Snow song is different from the song White Christmas. The Snow song is only in the movie White Christmas. The song White Christmas is sung in both the movies Holiday Inn and White Christmas.

I laughed at both versions of this song. 😆 It's just so kooky even in the original.
Yessss! 😂
I love how everyone is bouncing in their seat at a different rate -- as if everyone is on a completely different train.
lol
Can't really tell because I'm only here to watch Cecily bounce 🥰
Like in Star Trek when they get hit with a photon torpedo and have to pretend to shake.
It's was so distracting I realized I wasn't paying attention to what they were saying
I'm getting motion sickness?
People being excited to go to Buffalo is such an old movie trope. Also Cecily is so good at pretending to be a classical movie actress, her voice is so good
That's why she's perfect in Schmigadoon!
What movies use this trope?
I hope she goes to Broadway after this

Steve breaking is absolutely hysterical (1:22) and Kenan breaking at 3:11 just added to the magic.
Kenan doesn’t break too often these past few seasons it has to be seasoned veterans like Short and Martin doing exceptionally.
Yeah kenan...the pro🙄
Steve breaking and his bad singing is the ONLY reason for me to watch it and the only reason its funny.
Kenan just got a flake of "snow" in his mouth: unBEARable
Cecily Strong nails the old timey voice so well! She literally sounds like she's singing a song that would be in Fallout 3 or 4 in game radio! Damn

Yes, absolutely spot-on. There's such a specific tone in those mid-century movie musicals, and she captured it perfectly.
No one's talking about James Austin Johnson's old timey train conductor voice, but I'm so here for it
As a Buffalonian who grew up watching “White Christmas” every year, I approve of this sketch. AMAZING!

Lol, I don't think the harmony was intentional. The key was too low for all of them and they were just hitting whatever notes came out!
