As nice as the chronicles design of Richter is anyone else really happy they stuck with the OG design for Smash Ultimate??
Absolutely. Same with the original Simon over the Light Yagame-esque one.
Oh absolutely, this design just ended up looking like a different character to me, though this design is at least close to the original unlike Simon's redesign...
I hope the Chronicles design is an alt, like Ike's
I am. I like the Ryu-esque look more than the SOTN look.
Simon's design is almost spot-on to the old cover art for the first Castlevania, though :O
I remember playing this on my PSP and unlocking symphony of the night, those were some good days, i had so much fun playing this as a kid

I've actually never played Symphony of the Nigh besides like the first 10 mins, but I loved the shit out of the Dracula X Chronicles and now if you excuse me I'm going to go play all the Richter games in a row in celebration

Took me a few seconds to figure out which way Richter was facing

I remember setting this as the boss music for Dracula. I swear it's made for it.
I'd have used the RoB version of "Dance Of Illusions" while the stage BGM is "Prologue" from Symphony.
Sadly, the game wouldn't let me change the music, not even for "Dance Of Illusions" which I had the CD item for.

I like how they made Bloody Tears more operatic, but Divine Bloodlines very upbeat. Its usually the other way around.
It's funny to me how I used to be down on this, and to be fair the synth in melody at the start isn't my favorite sound. But after several listens not only has this version grown on me, I have even come around to liking it better than the Rondo of Blood original. The minor change of the end turn around into the head makes a major difference. And even though I prefer the sound quality of the Rondo version, this one now reigns supreme
Please let the Chronicles design of Richter an alternate skin for Richter in Smash Ultimate. It probably will never happen, but I can dream.
Its more likely to get the Symphony design than this one sadly.

The second best version of the theme, the first being the Dracula X snes version.
Actually, the opening in this version is completely screwed up, giving the original RoB second place. The SNES version of this is indeed the best though.
The bass line is great, but the actual opening is butchered. The xylophones are out of place; where's the guitar? Both Dracula X and RoB had an epic guitar solo, and they canned that for friggen xylophones? Worst idea for an OST remake ever.

I simply adore this theme. The PSP game was mediocre compared to the newer castlevanias back then, but it has a special place in my heart..
The game wasnt actually mediocre compared to them, it was just a remake of the last game of the old Castlevania era. Its like comparing apples and oranges. Rondo of Blood was the best oldschool Castlevania in my opinion.
This version is just missing something. It just is. It’s still okay though. It’s just missing something I can’t really describe.
