LOTR Unreleased Scene: Sauron Forging the One Ring scene is CRAZY

- They filmed a scene of Sauron forging the One Ring for "The Fellowship of the Ring"? Storyboards show Sauron stabbing his hand with a dagger, mixing molten gold with his blood to form the ring. While this was likely intended for the prologue, only a brief shot of Sauron with a bloody dagger remains. In a deleted scene from the Council of Elrond, Gandalf describes the ring's creation, emphasizing the mix of gold and Sauron's blood.

That is so cool. Thanks for that! I got my books today, The Hobbit and the Lord of the rings trilogy. Tolkiens world is the most interesting world i've ever dived into.
Did you know that the rings of sauron are penisrings? Or why do you think they can change their size…😏🙈
Never paid attention to this dagger somehow
For real... im shocked 😂
Oh no i have to watch the trilogy again...
@@izrailsky I always thought it was the sheath of a sword.
LOTR deserves a reward for most exposition ever.
I was to busy staring at the greatest cinematic villain of all time
How in the hell did I never see the dagger untill now??
You were focused on the iconic look of his helmet and face which is what most people focus on in the films when it comes to villains as well as the dominant hand raise he displayed lol
Looks truly amazing but I can understand why they decided to cut it out to save time as the plot stil works without it.
maybe it comes off cooler to say less on how it's made
Do you know what else should’ve been cut out? The Rings of Power series and its writers. What a f*+king waste of opportunity, resources and my precious time.
I agree. They butchered the franchise
@akiraimison3322 The key is to never watch it so it becomes irrelevant.
Cry harder 😂@@akiraimison3322
It gives extra explanation to why he can sense the ring. It is literally a part of him.
You didn’t need this explanation to figure that out.
@@ChadKakashi I did, actually...
Yeah I totally agree, it explains exactly how, if the ring isn’t destroyed he could still have a chance to exist in physical form if reunited with the ring. Part of his physical form literally exists within the ring. Very cool detail
But he can't! He can only see someone using the ring because they go to the wraith world. If he could sense the ring he would have taken it from Gollum centuries before. Or even from the lake before Smeagol showed up.
@@Yamagatabr you remember how the ring wraith nearly caught them the first time? They, too, can sense the rings' presence. And sauron needed time to build such an army. The ring chose to remain hidden. It chose a new host. One that in time, WAS CAPTURED AND TORTURED...
If you listen to the Peter Jackson/Fran Walsh/Philiipa Boyens commentary, Peter also says that they also shot what happened to each of the Fellowship after the War. He thought it would be too long after the "climax" of the movie (and, after the way some people complained about the number of "endings", he may have been right). But I sure would love to see those scenes (hope for an "Anniversary" Edition to include them), xxx
The hunt for gollum is coming up by the trio- Peter Jackson and other two- I wish the extended/ removed scenes or the tale would be included in it and that way the Middle Earth stays forever in our fantasy world☺️
@@CVish1925 For real! They could maybe show older king Aragorn and Arwen maybe with Merry and Pippin, like "let me tell you the story how we hunted Gollum" 😂
There is a lot of potential and I think it's going to be really great.
*Jackson, Walsh & Boyens and Serkis are no joke!*
I loved seeing everyone’s endings 😭
@@janmajer4662That is actually very likely. An aged king Aragorn telling the stories of his youth.
WHAT. I need to see this
I prefer not knowing exactly how the ring was formed. Tolkien created a soft magic system, so we aren't meant to understand every little aspect of that part of the world.
Согласна! Так просто есть, так этот мир живёт, и это прекрасно.
I feel like you have that soft magic just from reading the main books or dive deep into the origin of everything with the Silmarillion and all the other books (sorry I probably spelled that wrong). It's up to the reader/watcher how much they know and I think that's a nice choice to have
I feel torn about it. It would take out some of the mystery, a bit like the midichlorians i Star Wars. At the same time, non-book readers like myself (at the time) would have been a lot less confused watching the first movie. Would have been clarifying.
@@monmothma3358 maybe if they just further explained the scenes that they had. Cause they did leave in some of the lore, we just didn't notice until bts videos like this. Maybe the bts is the lore filling in we always needed
Agreed. Interesting to see this scene though.
I'm not sure a maiar would even have blood. The Istari would as they are in the forms of men and not just shape.
Actually, just remembered . I think there's a scene in Beren and Luthien where Sauron indeed bleeds, so maybe any physical form will do it.
Nice fact, but did you know that when aragorn kicked the helmet...
lol
*BANG*
1) Gandalf couldn't know 2) too physical and not magical for Tolkien's world 3) mystery is good
Mystery is good
“Too physical” I disagree since in the books Sauron actually just straight up forged it using the fires of Orodruin. He also had a physical body throughout all of Lord of the Rings and wasn’t a giant fiery eye like in the movies. Lord of the Rings always integrated physical with magical rather seamlessly.
Can it really be a fantasy without any mystery?
@@TheAdoringFanthere's nothing to say he didn't have a physical presence in the movies though. Just because he was represented with an eye doesn't mean that he wasn't there.
I saw it as more of an extravagant way of Sauron striking fear into enemies and his own forces. He didn't need the eye, he just chose to use it as a tool.
How could Gandalf not know? Isn’t he like, 30,000 years old?
Idk Why, but I just thought his left hand was wielding a staff or scepter. I actually never really looked and just filled that part in in my mind-never noticed the dagger until now. Crazy!
I wish there was a comprehensive playlist of all unreleased footage and deleted scenes
My hope is that all the deleted scenes will be fully edited with effects and released for the 25th anniversary edition
idk why but Gandalf with a hair-tie just throws me off somehow😂
he look like a cool surfer grandpa like that

Sauron: must create rings for all people. Only the best forger can do it. *hires a badass elven smith to make beautiful rings *
Also Sauron: I must create a ring that masters all of the other rings. *stabs himself in the hand holding a puddle of molten gold *
LOTR: Blood magic
RoP: ALLOYS, who knew?
In the newest episode they actually pay homage to this; Annatar cuts himself and uses his magic to make Celebrimbor believe that his blood is Mithril.
That of course is not what Tolkien wrote about the creation of the one ring! So never mind they cut it out.
It was more a spiritual pouring of his power into the ring, not through a dagger.
Looks cool though
It’s better that they left that out since blood isn’t mentioned in the books
So we gotta get the extended extended version now
0:31 the background made Elrond looked like he's wearing the high head hat like priest used, or male Bene Gesserit.
Incredible, Adrian, as always. Your music has been a constant in my life for over 10 years now. So glad you keep writing and composing.
At this point, we will reach a balrog and i wouldn't be suprised. nice short!
"there are signs on the ring, wich make feel so down..."
Lol its truly amazing that i finally got an answer, as to WHY Sauron was holding that dagger in the prologue
Thank God they omitted this scene. While a cool concept for some other movie, book, or game franchise, it is a very stupid way for him to have forged it, as it's pretty damn off brand for Tolkien's universe
So it is confirmed that the One Ring is a soul jar, the same class as a Horcrux, Rasputin's reliquary, and such.
Its cool that Jackson played Sauron in that scene
Eeesh. Glad they cut *that* out. Tolkien did not like or want to explain the magic of his world. Leave it mysterious and inexplicable.
They should've kept that scene if only to show Gandalf's epic ponytail.
So that's how the one ring that sauron created . I figure it was more complex when it was created. So he just stabs himself in the hand and merges his blood with the gold and then it forms into a ring ...
To quote Chandler Bing: "ah, finally an explanation"
I wish there was a long as possible version of lord of the rings without the cut scenes
I fully understand why they deleted that scene.
"It contains it's lifeforce" sounds incredibly stupid!
A huge deal with the ring is the mystery surrounding its power, explaining it like it's rational diminishes it.
In western culture, blood is vital force.
Jewish people take the blood out before eating and Christians believe in the blood of Jesus to cleanse sin.
@@guilhermecaiado5384 I do not have a problem with the blood symbolic. I have a problem with the material, non-mystery process of crafting the ring. Blood and gold? That's all it takes? It's terrifyingly bad. Can you imagine the LOTR community theorycrafting rings of power by imagining if this elven king or that orc had crafted rings of power? Since the blood of the maker isn't a very rare and precious ressource, why doesn't Gandalf craft a ring? Or any character with devine nature (Gandalf, Sauron and the Balrogs ultimately being Maiars who chose incarnation on Erda) ?
The material process behind it is ridiculous (blood is mostly water, iron and organic coumpound, that shouldn't mix well with gold and the water would simply evaporate, leaving a dirty gold with traces of iron). It's better left unkown, like the crafting of the Silmarils. All we know about the Silmarils is their ability to capture light, we have no idea how Fëanor did it and it's better that way.
It doesn't really feel like Tolkien, It's amazing to see how many people worked to produce something of such quality at all points.
We have to SEE ALL THE deleted and unreleased scenes. It's LOOOOONG over do.
Well, at least molten gold won’t give you an infection.
Now I want to see an Extended extended version of the movie with all these deleted scenes added in
Saw the dagger in his other hand but never thought too much about it.
They were right to leave it unclear how the ring was made
certainly glad this one scene and plot detail was left out, while a physical blood-link would probably be easier to understand, Sauron as an angelic Maiar had forged the one ring not with his physical essence but a significant portion of his spiritual being, the blood would have alluded to that but ultimately diluted that aspect of the rings connection and how/why the other rings even work for audiences of the wider lore, the spiritual aspect of the LotR is why the temptation of the ring is ultimately impossible to resist unless you are a far more powerful being than any of those residing in middle earth, it’s the underpinning of the entire story from n start to the very end and cause of the rings own destruction. the blood connection would have detracted from the subtext clearly still present in the movies.
It's better if it's a mystery. Just like the Silmaril.
Anyone else attracted to Sauron in his armor presiding from his volcano like the most malevolent badass? It's giving Darth Vader.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It’s a Horcrux! 😆
So thats why Sauron in RoP (a quite bad show) cuts his hand then gives the “mithril powder” to celebrimbor! Well done RoP i guess!?
Okay FINE, I'll go watch the entire trilogy again
Yeah I can see why this was cut. Fundamentally undermines the story of the creation of the rings if that's all there is to it (and the nature of Sauron himself -- he just becomes some guy who bleeds).
Wow - never realized that. Thanks! 🍷
One word: METAL
I thought that was a forge hammer he was holding, not a dagger.
Do you know what would be a great way to explain all the events in Tolkien’s magnificent story? To create a massive series with a massive budget and show it over a long period of time so that all the little hidden gems of the story could be explained according to the actual books and parchments. I’d love to watch that.
I mean, it would be cool, but silly. Since you could question why he didn't make a new one since all he needed was blood and gold. A new "why didn't the eagles take the ring to mordor?"
Leaving it as a mystery is better since it makes his past more unclear. Was a special forge used to make the ring? Were there several helpers with certain materials there to help craft it, and so many questions left unanswered. What we know about his past self was he disgusted himself to make all the rings of power, so him being in that form to craft it wouldn't make sense since he couldn't trick or manipulate people in his orginal form or war armor.
He can't pour all of his being into 2 different rings, that doesn't make any sense
@@The_Sharktocrab it'd be like what Voldemort did
@@SupremeLadyofDarkness28 voldemort split his soul into pieces and put them into different objects, sauron put his whole being into the ring, he has nothing else to put into another ring
He couldn’t, once he was separated from the ring he couldn’t have made another one as he did not have a physical form.
@@DanielDuhonI thought he did keep his body and it was just a movie thing that he didn’t. He lost his finger when isildur cut the ring off, and many years later gollum references him only having 9 fingers when he sees him in Mordor.
Another great example of less being more.
Man people would lose their minds over this in today’s social media age. I think it’s pretty cool but is obviously different from the lore
That... had NOTHING to do with the actual story! Yecch!!!
rings of power actually had me scrap together every deleted scene, conceptual art deaign stuff from the origianl lotr triology
I wanted this scene in! Hehe awesome fact!!
So not only are there extended editions…there are valuable deleted scenes too?!
glad they ditched this idea. Knowing exactly how he did it kills the immersion for me. It's better not really knowing. I'm happy with.... "he used his own skills and sorcery" and that's enough for me.
That would have actually been pretty sick😂😂
Where do you find these? Afaik the aren't even in the extended edition cit scenes
I've always thought that It was a hammer
In the rings of power series it was created when sauron and guyladriel spooned
I try to watch this trilogy every year. Sometimes two or three times. Since there theatre release. WHY....THE EFF.....HAVE I NEVER NOTICED SAURON HOLDONG A DAGGER?? WHY??
To be honest, Sauron would have forged the One Ring as how Celebrimbor forged the Rings of Power.
Wait until rings of power rewrite this scene and truly f*ck it up. It's inevitable.
I don't get why they didn't show it just to need to explain it later and then you might even just miss what he said
This shit is way better than the Rings of Power
Dont you think they could have made sauron look a bit more intimidating?
It should have been included. It wasn't that long.
The eye was horrible in the movie.
How is it that you get access to these deleted unreleased scenes?
That would’ve been cool af
So theres and extended EXTENDED edition?
i curious to know how they did for filming a giant demi god in is forge .
Erm, just because it was storyboarded doesnt mean that it was filmed. Stfu
I don't understand why they took it out. It would have added like one more minute to he film, that's nothing, and it explains a lot.
It completely annihilates the story of the creation of the rings into some ultra simplistic cartoon nonsense and also undermines the nature of Sauron.
Gandalf" "...molten gold was mixed with Elven blood. It contains his life force!"
Is that how Tolkien wrote it though?
Whhyyyyyyy why is this a deleted scene 😭😭😭
Ngl, thats metal af
Sauron was a smith 😮
Ohhh maybe that’s why he bled himself before giving calibrimbor the mithril for the 9 in S2E6 RoP
Good thing they removed that scene. Was quite camp.
It should have been in the movie 😞
(should have been in RoP)
@@zzz7903 We don't talk about that
@@zzz7903 Nah that's shit, the writers got too much liberty and write whatever they think of rather than focusing on the actual story, which have been lot cool
Annatar cutting his hand makes sense from today's episode.
Rating system? (Violence and bloodshed)
Why didnt they put this in the movie? Are the y high?
Is this canon?
I think the movie was better of without it, some things are best left to the imagination.
That’s so cool!!!!!!
These are little aspects of Jackson's "flavor" that I'm glad were cut. Just stick to the source material as much as possible.
That is not HOW the one ring was forged in the book. Another Peter Jackson screw up... Yet another example of how someone can't just follow the pages of the book.
It does not matter bro
The scene didn't make the cut for any version of the movie... "... Another Peter Jackson screw up..." - Bravo. Brilliant. I can only envy your logic. The truth is that in the production of a movie/game, etc., if you have enough time and money, you can go over and try many concepts and end up choosing none (as it turned out in this case)... But... "...Another Peter Jackson screw up..." Just bravo!
Jackson shot tons of stuff that was never shown. He was writing his additions to the script right up to the day of shooting. Thankfully the producers did not allow all of the changes that he made. There are a ton of Jackson’s changes and additions to Tolkien’s story but the producers refused many of the changes that Jackson wanted to add.
The dagger in Sauron’s hand is a leftover of that specific scene, but Gandalf still confirmed the Ring’s physical connection to Sauron in the released movie (wish it was in the extended cut though). In Bag End, Gandalf told Frodo, “The spirit of Sauron endured. His life force is bounded to the Ring, and the Ring survived.” So the specifics were just left out, but I always figured that Sauron added his blood to Ring.
I think it's semen not blood
Fallen angels, and the Giants left over from the Bible had veins of gold
Why was it never been told in film?
This changed the whole meaning of the film
Wearing a blade superhero mask counts as black face?
The fuck?
So is anyone wearing a white guy superman mask is racist if you’re not white then?
Or the Wayne’s brothers wearing white chick masks?
That one’s a stretch
Idk why don't even do that I mean it's not anywhere different from just saying he forged it with his own blood. I mean what is life force so I don't know why they wouldn't just say that I guess they didn't want to turn into like a horror movie by saying blood.
I thought Celebrimbor was the smith who crafted all the rings of power, including Sauron’s.
No. Celebrimbor crafted the three rings by himself and aided in the creation of the rest, but Sauron kept the One Ring's creation a secret until the moment he put it on and the Elves could sense his treachery.
@@Zilla1954where did you read this? Interesting stuff
@@colet911 It's covered in part in the Fellowship of the Ring during the Council of Elrond:
"Then all listened while Elrond in his clear voice spoke of Sauron and the Rings of Power, and their forging in the Second Age of the world long ago. A part of this tale was known to some there, but the full tale to none, and many eyes were turned to Elrond in fear and wonder as he told of the Elven-smiths of Eregion and their friendship with Moria, and their eagerness for knowledge, by which Sauron ensnared them. For in that time he was not yet evil to behold, and they received his aid and grew mighty in craft, whereas he learned all their secrets, and betrayed them, and forged secretly in the Mountain of Fire the One Ring to be their master. But Celebrimbor was aware of him, and hid the Three which he had made; and there was war, and the land was laid waste, and the gate of Moria was shut."
@@Zilla1954 thx my fellow nerd 🍻
@@colet911 No problem.
I still didn't understand why he didn't make another one, is not like the material is from dragon or anywhere outside his house. But of course the plot would come out with another story to fix the holes, like: "he can only do it once, the ring is actually has his soul, or he would get anemia if he make another one" Type of shit.
Another silly Hollywood idea. Great it didn't get in the movie. Tolkien was heavily inspired by Germanic and Nordic myths and legends. The ring idea is clearly from The ring of Nibelungs. Where a ring was forged that could rule the world. And it was forged by a dwarf who used normal way how jewelry craftsmen forge gold into ring.
Well Sauron did pour most of his own soul into the ring so it would act as an amplifier for his own power and give him control over all the rings of power. No dwarf or mortal being could ever do such a thing, only an ainu was capable of that kind of magic. But I also don’t like the blood idea since I don’t even think a maia’s body could actually bleed. It could be destroyed for sure, but we already saw how when he died his severed finger was like charcoal with no blood.
@@MaiaGothmog
Well, Sauron was also a master craftsman. It seems like crafting a ring of power should be a physical process similar to making an ordinary ring but with a mystical element to the process. It should look like the pinnacle of smithing, not a completely different process.
An entirely magical process also doesn't have the same weight as watching Sauron actually exert himself to physically shape the ring
