Jordan is the best listener of any host; he knows when to let his guest talk and when to interject. There are various strengths of different hosts, but I really appreciate that about him.
Please tell me Jordan is going to be the permanent host. The way he let Michael Shannon breathe as he responded to his questions (versus jumping in and hurrying him along) was refreshing. Well done!
He's known for playing such intense and at times scary roles, but then you watch his interviews and he says things like "aw, gee" which remind you he's just a normal, sweet adorable guy that also happens to be a phenomenal actor
Yeah, I do appreciate living where I have running tap water, postal service (even though DeJoy is *still trashing it* ), electric service, Police protection (if you call them), trash pick up and even paved roads. People who gripe about "too much government" apparently haven't lived without these services long term. Life is better WITH services, especially in a town. *Appreciate what you do have people!*

Jordan is doing a fantastic job this week and his interviews are not just entertaining, but insightful and interesting. He would be an excellent choice to host the Daily Show.
Its so interesting to see this being covered as an adult. I grew up in the 90s and it was a short couple year spand that just kept going. First Ruby Ridge, next year Waco, and just a couple years later Oklahoma city. And they all were connected in a weird way. I dont think you can really cover one without covering them all. It was a series of tragic dominos.
The most interesting part is that to someone that grew up in the 90s it might seem like it was only those incidents that exist in conjunction with each other, but in reality it goes back to the inception of the FBI, CIA, and ATF. From the assassination of John F Kennedy to the shootout with the Black Panther Party, it is obvious that there are factions inside of government that are willing to annihilate any discerning entities that are a threat to their hold on power. Just look at what is going on today with the fiasco against Donald. I'm not a fan of that con man, but they are trying really hard to keep him from running, instead of trying to beat him with votes. Why do you think that is?
Yep I keep saying, rotate guests inside and outside daily show weekly or fortnightly. The writers and producers are still the same people writing the jokes, the host just adds a flair and can be positive when they go off script
Michael Shannon is a talented and versatile gem of an actor with a riveting intensity and I have enjoyed him in everything I’ve seen him in since Boardwalk Empire, like nocturnal Animals,Midnight Special, The Shape of Water and the unhinged ‘Bug’ (he and costar Ashley Judd should have both been nominated for Oscars)
I think of government as more about infrastructure, a functional society is a peaceful one. Corporations USED to be temporary, perhaps that should still be true but if not, we MOST DEFINITELY need something strong between us and a corporation. The victims in Ecuador of an oil company that almost has Texas in its name? Those native Ecuadorans would agree.
of late night shows - i watch monologue, headlines, etc. Hate 'celebrities'; do not care to hear a 'celebrity' talk. Michael Shannon is an artist Always love to see him speak. What a mind..
Shannon is one of my favourite actors. He is truly a remarkable dude that is able to sink into a role and become that person. He was for the longest time very underrated and was not cast in many roles, but those that he landed he aced. And to such a degree it made people believe the character he played was real: They hated the man AND the actor. Some people can't make the difference sometimes, which amazes me.
I'm old enough to remember Waco and Oklahoma City. Back then conspiracy theorists were outside the norm. Militia's were hiding in the woods. Not anymore because the other day I watched my local soldier cosplayers get lunch at a grocery store. They were all dressed in fatigues that didn't match but the funny part was none of them spoke to or acknowledged each other. Unless I missed the dress in your battle fatigue day memo they stuck out like a sore thumb and if their mission was to be incognito they failed miserably.
It’s a great show. As an Oklahoman, I had forgotten some of the aftermath portion. Waco got the pockets of hate to get organized. Today’s groups are the result of that. Keep Klepper for a full time host!
Klepper's experience interviewing strangers in the field has given him some great listening skills. Most of the guest hosts have nailed the monologue parts, but interviewing is a different skillset. This was a great interview!
I love watching Michael Shannon. For some reason he reminds me of Peter Deuel. And if Peter had lived passed 31 and into an older age this might be him.
As a background actor on set for a scene of these part 2, I am so excited for it. Serious acting and such a privilege to witness it firsthand then see this interview.
I haven't seen the shows but I remember the event at Waco when it happened. Regardless of the awful ideology and the gun amassing of the Branch Davidians, the government's action was appalling. There is no other story to this than what the government did was a horrific crime, and that is what should be remembered.
Boardwalk Empire, the best series that no one watched. When Michael made his first and everlasting impression on me. That intensity of that character omfg
Granted, I've enjoyed many of the various roles Michael Shannon has starred in that people have already mentioned. In my opinion, his greatest performance was his reading of a sorority girl email
Cognitive linguist George Lakoff taught about government being about freedom from (disease, violence, hunger, etc.) and freedom to (assemble, speak, marry, etc.)
I LOVE George Lakoff. Was privileged to take his Metaphors class at UC Berkeley back in the 80s, and it's one of the two or three college courses that changed my whole way of thinking. and approaching life. And yes, "government = freedom" is SUCH a healthier mindset than "government = enemy."
I just saw the thumbnail for this sequel when I went to turn off the TV, as I switched screens to my phone this was the first thing on my feed. The original Waco was outstanding. Looking forward to this…
Michael Shannon is great. This guy does some pretty far out characters. Check out the movie he did with Ashley Judd called "Bug". What a trip that was. He was wild in that.
Misconception, the government keeping its population safe is a secondary benefit. It's primary goal is to manage the relationship between society and the economy. Without that, nothing else can function, including public safety.
There's no bad choices among the folks they've had as visiting host, so I won't be upset whomever makes it. But Jordan is shining pretty brightly as of now.
I'm so conflicted, one I would absolutely love for Jordan to be the host of the daily show permanently. On the other hand his presence at Trump rallies are pure gold, and if him hosting interferes with that.... I'd be a sad panda.
Michael Shannon needs to be the Joker stat! His laugh is perfect for the role. Listen to it at 11:20! He even follows it with "I'm Everyone's favorite arsonist." It is almost like he is practicing for the role.

Jordan Klepper should be permanent host, he is SUCH a great interviewer, just a total natural,
I think Jordan and Roy should be co-hosts on TDS.
Nah. He belongs in the field,. No one does on the road interviews better than he does
We need Jordan in the field. Let Hasan Minhaj be host. He’s great at everything. Then the current Correspondents could stay in their roles.
