VERDICT:
Ichimonji is a very strong Combat Art, but it requires a bit of finesse to use effectively against bosses because it's slow and has a long recovery time. It deals heavy Posture damage, but doesn't stagger large enemies as quickly as you'd expect it to. If you're using Double, you usually need to wait a moment before using the second attack, especially if the boss is currently stunned, because sometimes if you catch them at the wrong part of their animation they can tank through the second hit and trade with you (I found this most frequent against Genichiro and Sword Saint Isshin after using it to punish a successful Lightning Reversal). The main benefit to using it is that it can interrupt attacks with super armor, such as Father Owl's big overhead slash and Sword Saint Isshin's huge circular charged slash. It can also cancel the startup of One Mind while fighting Isshin Ashina, which is extremely useful because it essentially deletes it from the fight. I have Ichimonji equipped most times when I'm fighting either version of Isshin for those reasons alone. Against other bosses, it doesn't necessarily give you any special benefit, but it is still a strong attack overall.
Idk I've been very fond of high monk lately even on my plus 3 all skills unlocked it's extremely versatile even canceling the combo and just hitting the posture damage into deflecting or prosthetic fallow up, and the fact it doesn't cost emblems is incredible
