I was in a top 40 alliance and I decided to quit around September 1st. I miss things about the game like my friends and alliance mates, many of whom I still speak to in discord from time to time. I have found myself with a lot more time to be social in the real world, my partner is very happy that I’m more attentive and not sneaking off to play my game in another room. I’ve returned to other hobbies like playing magic cards with real life friends, writing and recording music, going out for hikes/walks. I’m less depressed, Less socially anxious. I’m free! I strongly suggest it to anyone feeling negative about this game to get out and move on.

As a PoH member from one of the lowly sister alliances, shout out to PoH Wong Size Matters, I completely get it. Thinking about quitting myself. At first I was questioning if I wanted to get ZIM, but those offers are so bad and so anti-player the internal dialogue of figuring out if I was going to get Zombie Iron Man became if I would even stay. The game is a second job, some days a first job to be honest. I am supposed to start back to work on my masters in January and I can't see myself being able to juggle that, work, and MSF. So what do you think I'll choose when something has to go? It isn't going to be MSF. That's the saddest part, if I wanted to spend more it still would not offset time spent. I would still have to play just as much. Video games used to let people unable to grind spend to stay relevant, but this game you have to be on 24/7 AND spend like a mad man to stay relevant. I'd love to see Apocalypse, but I wonder how much that will upset me, how much more money set on fire to obtain him in a usable state, how much more time spent day after day? All the respect in the word to everyone at PoH, glad to see the leaders are taking a stand and bowing out when they feel it is their time. That time will come for all of us eventually, just some of us will be much sooner than later.

Great video MobileGamer, I agree with many of the comments. I've been playing at a pretty involved level for several years and feel the game has gone down a bad path over the last year or so. We as players no longer have agency. With the power creep so aggressive, by the time I can usually get a character high enough to be relevant, new teams are introduced that completely remove the value of that character. I'm spending more and more time per day to stay relevant. Half of our alliance has quite the game, which is telling of direction along with very helpful when many of the challenges have become alliance based. Lastly, I used to be a pay to play and the pricing structure has just gotten so aggressive that I can't rationalize spending money on a declining game. Thanks for all the great content and sorry to be so long winded!

My alliance is a group that has mostly been together for the better part of the last year and a half. Over the last 2 months, we've lost 7 members, 5 of which were long time members or captains, all due to burnout and the game being more of a job than a fun pasttime with friends.

Pretty much exactly how I've been feeling the last few months. Burnout, power creep and the fact that everything team I ever levelled gets replaced by one new character. Each day is going through the motions. I love the game, just wish Scopely showed that same love to the game to. It feels like they just want to make some quick cash. Everything they do is half-assed and rather than fix things or balance existing characters, they just add 5 more, call it a team and tell people you need to buy this.
    It's just too much.

When Apocalypse was first announced and they called it, The Age of Apocalypse, I joked that it was really just a euphemism for Scopley trying to kill the game. As this year has progressed, I can't help but revisit that thought. Price tags have gotten higher and higher, time invested value is being reduced immensely on events to where you are now getting the bare minimum to unlock anything. The economy has crashed to a near stand still in some areas. They've literally cut off support to the game in multiple parts of the world so they can no longer play and massive amounts of people are quitting on top of that. How does all that happening not sound like "The Age of Apocalypse"?

@@jefflorenzen6913 Same for me. Not a leader but 3rd string war captain when the others get busy. I feel like I've such an investment in the alliance I've been with since I could get into them. So much time and effort to build my roster and finally clearing DD4 after years of work with minimal spending. And here I am now with 10 characters all favorited to focus on building. I'm dry on gold and training mats constantly and I feel like I'm not able to do anything anymore until they're built up. I often find myself just rerunning DD2 over and over again just to feel like I'm sorta playing. At least there I can sit back and enjoy the admittedly good combat animations on most toons.
Got off track there but I feel if my alliance were to fully dissipate, I'd feel like there's nothing more in the game for me. I hate solo pvp, personally but I enjoy the team effort of war and the strategy needed to tackle it. CC is just a matter of throwing in CC teams and kicking back, same for arena and it's just boring.

I had been considering leaving for a while even though it was fun, since it felt harder and harder to keep up with high-level event requirements without spending real money (while simultaneously trying to better gear my Doom II raid teams (without spending money).
The final decision happened by chance. My phone was having issues and broke down shortly after unlocking Rogue in the horseman event. It took longer than expected to get my replacement phone and by the time i got the replacement i realized "I can't do this any more". I truly understood the amount of time and dedication i was having to put into a game, often begrudgingly, by getting that time back. And I was free to do so many other things and live my life. That was when i was done. I have considered going back casually at times but it's literally not worth it. I wouldn't be able to do any of the new stuff without paying, and Doom raids were the only other progression i had left to focus on and I can't do that solo or casually. So, I'm free.

    • @ricktafoya2716
      @ricktafoya2716 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Edit: I specifically couldn't keep up with new high level event requirements without real money because i had only been playing about a year and a half so i wasn't sitting on a mountain of unused resources to be able to max out full teams of brand new characters that were also required for the next event. That was a deliberately terrible business model choice by Scopely on that one.

It's almost as if scopley has no idea how gaming and player bases work. They see players starting to quit because of their poor programming and poor pricing, so their answer to this is "We have to raise the prices to accommodate for the players that left!" Which in turn makes more players leave and they jack the prices up again trying to accommodate for those that left. It's a vicious cycle that ends with the downfall of one of the best mobile games ever released. I never thought I would say these words... I miss foxnext..

It pains me to see what Scopley is doing to the game. I LOVE all things Marvel. It is the staple of my childhood and something that brought my huge family of 8 together. I played for a little over three years with Prophets of the Unknown. I finally had to quit because the time required to play as a primarily F2P and my job and being a leader in my church and being married was obscene. My marriage, health and mental well-being were all suffering…and it goes beyond just “feeling bad” because of a poor release method, or FOMO. Scopley has created a beast fueled by dependency, over spending, egregious time sinks…and the kicker is the initial draw, the lure, is nostalgia. Scopley has completely corrupted something that was so fun, pure, and enjoyable. I still feel bad about leaving my alliance in July and I watch videos occasionally to show support for your channel (because you MG, became part of my daily life as well).
Ultimately a much longer post than I intended, but I had to say it. Even now, while my life has been getting better since I quit MSF, part of me is really sad because I know that I will never be able to play this game again. Legitimately sad, like heavy heart-wet eyes-sad.

I uninstalled the game last night after seeing the ZIM offers and seeing the writing on the wall that this is the new business model they have apparently adopted. I was a moderate spender and was a 1500+ day player. There has been problems for some time now and they seem to just be getting worse. I kept playing mainly for my alliance as I had a 27mil TCP and had the top roster in the alliance, I felt they deserved me trying to hang on and not feel abandoned buy someone that was there every day and doing what was needed to move everyone forward and so did the other 23 members.
It just seems like the player base is standing on the tracks waiting for Scopely to stop the train but they are showing no intention of doing so. Now people are worried and are getting off the tracks and in turn may never trust that the train will stop for them when they find themselves in the same place time and time again.
Can anything be done about it now or is that train going too fast for too long to stop in time or is everyone just stepping off and walking away before any damage is done.

What has me considering is the fact I was breezing through doom skill 1 and 2 until I maxed out my Raid skill characters to lvl 90 , 6rs , gear 16 to every raid and character and some how the nodes are harder . Bio as well. I feel like I put everything into raid characters to make them the best because it’s a daily grind . Instead I feel punished and defeated . This is an accumulation of the same issues for years. I've personally become f2p and have only spent once in months. These issues should have been taken seriously a long time ago in order to fix them. Now Scopely is so entrenched in what it's done and the game has evolved so much to match that, that I don't think there's anything Scopely can do now to course correct.
    Very unfortunate.

Mmm, I dunno. Im a fairly new player, only like 3.5-4 months in. I’m enjoying the game a lot. My biggest thing was I joined the game to get Rogue… but couldn’t. But I’ve had good luck with the Horseman orbs and have both Morgan and Rogue now. Neither 7 stars, but they don’t have to be. As a long time Marvel fan from the 90’s, I’m excited to just have access to so many different characters.
That being said, I also see the other side of the argument from the long time, heavily invested players like those that would qualify to be in an alliance like PoH. Monetary investment in a game makes it more personal, and a heavy monetary investment can make it volatile when the game starts to go off the rails for them or starts to take advantage of their spending by doing an event like ZIM. I’ve unlocked him at 2 stars and I’m good with that. But putting a $300 price tag on a character that has been clarified as only being available for a week… expecting a quick cash influx from all your spenders who are completionists… pretty dirty. I can understand why the big alliances are pissed but at the same time, it isn’t directly affecting me because I don’t care if all my characters are maxed out or not. Atleast rn now anyway. This game is a pastime and I only invest when I’m on and specifically wanting a character or something.

First I just stopped spending, and then I did the most important thing for me... I stopped giving Scopely/MSF my time. As much as I loved the alliances I was with and the time we all spent playing this game, it just became too much to deal with when problems would always pop up and Scopely would basically put us all in a position to spend just to stay on track. Not worth it in my opinion. Hopefully they make changes for the better, but as for me I won't be going back to the game.

This pretty much sums up why I quit playing, excluding the spending issue. I was F2P and those issues sum up exactly why I left. I didn't have the time, or patience to keep playing and the very slow rate of progress that F2Ps are relegated to. The game became overly repetitive and left no room for individual strategy. I had to accept that I wouldn't be able to recruit new toons for 6 months or more and even then I also had to accept that it'd be a very long time before they'd be leveled a useful level because mat and gear took too long to aquire.
