Omg Lisa I feel your pain on the hot water tank. Last summer ours flooded our finished downstairs and our daughter’s bedroom, and the same night my fil had a stroke. He is doing better now thankfully. Our flooded downstairs then turned into needing asbestos abatement since there were asbestos tiles under the carpet. Thankfully all this was covered under insurance minus the hot water tank which was four months out of warranty. SO hot water tank ptsd is so a thing 😂 we now have a commercial grade flooring that can get wet if anything ever happens again.
I am about to start a mitered square blanket. My plan for summer months for blankets that are larger is that during the pre-AC times is to only work on them on rainy/cooler days, or work on them while having outside coffee in the morning. That way I'll be cool enough to have them 'on me'. I've also started my 'modular makes' = blankets that are squares, strips, hexies, yada-yada, so that they aren't covering me. We are in similar weather to you. We are across the long pond from you. Take care.
Beautiful Opal socks Lisa! Totally cast them on :) this is the artistic series totally inspired by the art of Ausitrian artist Fredriech Hundertwasser. If you ever go to Vienna, you'll see it everywhere.
Hi Lisa, You are going to town on your cozy memory blanket. I started one in February of this year, and I'm only on the second row. It's always great catching up with you.
My husband and I just went through the same hot water tank fiasco in December! We called it a Christmas present! 😂Our understanding is that the cost increase has a lot to do with the new high efficiency standards. Whatever the case, it's absolutely insane! Hope you have a nice Mother's Day.
I am having a love/hate relationship with the weather. It’s all beautiful and nice on the days when I teach all day and all night and then the days I’m not teaching at night it’s raining 😭
It’s been a week! It’s Saturday and I’m a watching May 3! You’ve already recorded May 10. I’ll catch up and try to watch on Monday. If you need yarn (if budget runs out) just put out the call and you’ll be flooded!! I never want you to be without. 😊
Lisa, you've inspired me to knit (crochet) all the scraps this year -- I've finished two blankets and am a month into a granny stripe using a magic knot ball, but I'm too afraid to cut the tails on my knots!!! Hope I can muster up the courage by the time it's completed 😬
Our hot water heater was 30+ years old when it died last year. So when it died all of the venting and housing had to be brought up to code. We got several estimates that ran from 6-11,000. 😮
Good morning Lisa. Yes, I agree with you that I think you should pull out your oldest Opal to knit a pair of socks. And perhaps doing that now and then. What makes this exciting is that sometimes Opal will cancel that color way and by seeing yours makes the color way extremely and surprisingly fun to see. My neighbor lady ran over here this morning after your podcast but before I saw it and shouted out as she came through my door and said, "All the (72) sock lady is only getting a water heater for mother's day.) Well she's just a little old littl cuss and sometimes panics and gets excited when she hears stories and goes a bit bonkers. After watching the podcast again with her she realized that her hubby didn't mean it that way. Anyway nice to see you twice Lisa. My numeral guess before you said the water heater purchase amount was 1800.00. pretty close though. Ok. Gotta run and send off comments to other sock friends. Take care Lisa.
Also, if you have a refrigerator with a water dispenser, check the hose that connects to the wall faucet. Ours broke last summer and our whole house flooded. Even though insurance covered the clean up and new floors, tax alone was $10,000. 😳
I knit 12 shawls last year. Most of them Stephen West. I haven't done a single Stephen West shawl this year so far, but I'm about to cast one on. There's time. I think, being a year long KAL, there may be a spike in participation and shawl making when MKAL season comes round again. Love the OPAL yarns. 5 new ones and only 4 will fit well to make 20 in the box? 16 in the box? RNG says pick number 7 and knit it.
My number was $6000! So you got off easy with $2000 water heater 😂 I have bought new needles for sock camp and I really want to work with my self striping commercial sock yarn for SSC. I need to finish my current socks, but 2024 has been toy/amigurumi of the day, so socks are definitely being neglected this year.
❤morning Lisa,,,,, Knitting on heel of socks,,,,, 🧦 Love ur Opal,,,,, I am addicted to that yarn and have a lot of regia,,,opals,,wys,,,, Don't have those colors yet!!! Yikes,,,< our hot water tank,,,,is not too bad ,,,so far,,,,!!!!🎉 Have good week ,, Elaine ❤️❤️🏠
I’m 34, but I swear I’ve been so hot since I turned 30. I told this to another woman the other day and she said she’s been hot since her 20’s. It must be a hormone thing. Except my husband is always hot too 🤷♀️ maybe I should move to Alaska.
You are so talented. Thanks for the video. Almost got my sock completed I was working on while listening. I know all about water heaters. We've been in our house 20 years...LP...and we've replaced 4. We ended up getting an extender for ours because the plumber said we needed it as well. Now that we've been in our totally gutted farmhouse for 20 years all our appliances have either been replaced or are on their last leg...not to mention carpets. Thought we were going to be empty nestors but 9 years ago my daughter and her young 3 kids moved in so things have needed replaced much sooner. Take care.
Hi Lisa, love all your scrappy projects. Just wondering if you have any specific projects you use self striping scraps in or do you just put them in your normal scrappy projects?
While I watched you, I am hand sewing the lining for a backpack I crocheted. Not fun, but the thought of threading my sewing machine for three seams is just horrible! I do not sew.
Love your shirt! 💜
Alter name of this episode... "clutch my pearls" 😂
Yes!

Love love love the Anakin yarn!! 😮❤

I’m going to use black with my “frankly Lisa” yarn for a stark contrast!!

Hi Lisa, You are going to town on your cozy memory blanket. I started one in February of this year, and I'm only on the second row. It's always great catching up with you.
My husband and I had to give each other a new water heater last year for our 45th wedding anniversary - fun times!! Enjoy your podcasts!

It’s so good!

My guess for the hot water heater was $1400. What a sticker shock? As always, I love all the socks!

The neighbor lady (Miss Bell) wanted me to wish you a happy mother's day and hope you are doing well. ❤
Thank you!

We don’t have water dispenser on our refrigerator. Phew! 😮💨
Hello Lisa from Swansea, Illinois.
I knit 12 shawls last year. Most of them Stephen West. I haven't done a single Stephen West shawl this year so far, but I'm about to cast one on. There's time. I think, being a year long KAL, there may be a spike in participation and shawl making when MKAL season comes round again.

I will pull out number 7. I was trying to figure out what to cast on next! Thanks!🤣
You Anakin socks are so good! I was just saying this weekend, if i get another Bearded Dragon... his name will be Anakin! Yas! 😊
My guess was $1500...I was very wrong. Ours will probably be going out in a few years too. We've been here for 9 years now.

Owning a home is costly,,we now need new gutters, ooooooh my $$$ as retired seniors it hurts🙈
I think half of the skein of Frankly Lisa needs to be a pair of socks ❤
Maybe I should order another skein. 🤣
❤morning Lisa,,,,,

I love those brands too and have several skeins!! These new skeins are looking good!
I have a cross stitch pattern that says, "Dear NASA, your mom thought I was big enough. Love, Pluto"
Love that!
I'm working on my first sweater and completing a tubular sewn bind off on the body ribbing. Whew! Then, maybe, just maybe, I'll start the sleeves 🤔 😂
I’m 34, but I swear I’ve been so hot since I turned 30. I told this to another woman the other day and she said she’s been hot since her 20’s. It must be a hormone thing. Except my husband is always hot too 🤷♀️ maybe I should move to Alaska.
Hi Lisa some dudes came out to service my AC and suggested I get a tankless water heater for 10 K ! Ha.
Yikes! 😬😳
❤❤❤

Alternate title: "where are we?!" ;)
You may be able to claim your water heater for next year’s taxes.
HEEENNNRRIIIIEEEETTTTAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!
I'm sorry you got hit with the leaking water heater. I just hate spending money on that kind of thing. I'd rather buy all the yarn....
Yes! Me too!
Hi Lisa, love all your scrappy projects. Just wondering if you have any specific projects you use self striping scraps in or do you just put them in your normal scrappy projects?
Usually socks or blankets. Or sometimes shawls.
I started pre parimenopause within the last year and I'm 36(37 in August). Ans the hot flashes are absolutely TERRIBLE
I’m so sorry! ❤️
Lisa did Henrietta lay an egg? What is beside her? I watch all your episodes but I must have been distracted and missed that.
It’s a mini chicken!

Sometimes I think us knitters should take out insurance on our hands. 😂✋🤚🧦🧶
