The church where I served is in the country but 2 years ago I have to go to the city for work. In there I went to our main church and was unnoticed. In our church in the province, I am a youth leader and Sunday school teacher but in our main church I was only sitting during the service without any participations. I want to serve there too but it seemed that they seemed to be not willing to assign me somewhere. Probably because they noticed I'm too haggard from work as well. Now I understand why it all happened and how it was a test of my calling. Now I'm back in the country and I thought I wouldn't be able to preach again because for 2 years I haven't done it but by the grace of God he is using me to lead young people. I just want to be really bold about my faith and win souls to Jesus amidst all my life issues. I just want to really adhere to my calling and just yield to God and be more sensitive to the holy spirit. Thank you Pastor David for this series. I'm listening to your podcasts as well. It really helps me to understand why stuff happens and be drawn more closer to God. :)

Actually I think God doesn't test us for himself, because he is God, he already knows everything what we will do.. But yes he gives us a test, but for the purpose of revealing us to ourselves(he shows us who we are, and we were not aware of that before).. so God is exposing us to ourselves, and when we succeed to see clearly, then this is a clear moment of decision and free will,.. God is so great and gentle.. he is gently pointing, that we figure out things by "ourselves".. That is also why Jesus through out the Bible is pointing out on things mostly through questions.. And we should do the same with our brothers and sisters, otherwise they will feel judged(and we shouldn't judge because we are all hypocrite).. Both practices bring good results, but Christianity, by having a relationship with God, brings true and total fulfillment, purpose, security, joy, and love in your life. To answer your question, to "lay desires at God's feet" means that we give up our temporary life, with all our plans, ambitions, and self-gratification, for a renewed everlasting life with Jesus. Will you give up on what the Lord has given you, because no one appears to be endorsing you....

Actually I think God doesn't test us for himself, because he is God, he already knows everything what we will do.. But yes he gives us a test, but for the purpose of revealing us to ourselves(he shows us who we are, and we were not aware of that before).. so God is exposing us to ourselves, and when we succeed to see clearly, then this is a clear moment of decision and free will,.. God is so great and gentle.. he is gently pointing, that we figure out things by "ourselves"..
That is also why Jesus through out the Bible is pointing out on things mostly through questions.. And we should do the same with our brothers and sisters, otherwise they will feel judged(and we shouldn't judge because we are all hypocrite)..

What is the difference between Christianity and Buddhism, where Buddhism says get rid of your desires while Christianity say lay desires at God's feet?
Hello, I would like to give you a brief distinction between the two practices. Christianity offers a true relationship with a real God; with whom you can trust, pray to, rely for strength, find fulfillment, seek purpose in, etc. On the other hand, Buddhism is a man made religion based on traditions, philosophies, and other ancient practices. Both practices bring good results, but Christianity, by having a relationship with God, brings true and total fulfillment, purpose, security, joy, and love in your life.
To answer your question, to "lay desires at God's feet" means that we give up our temporary life, with all our plans, ambitions, and self-gratification, for a renewed everlasting life with Jesus. I hope that answers your question!
