The Relic is a really good book, that will keep you turning the pages. I flew thru it in a couple of nights and the last 50 pages kept me up well past my bed time.

"Intensity" is a pretty great book by Dean Koontz IMO. If you see a copy in the wild, I strongly endorse picking it up.

I’m fairly new to collecting Stephen King books. My first book I bought was 30% off at Walmart around the time IT chapter 2 came out in theaters. I bought the 2016 paperback edition of IT. Then in 2020 for Christmas my mom bought me 5 king books from a lady she knew on Facebook who was selling them. She bought me; the first edition hardcover Pet Sematary, first edition hardcover Cujo, first edition paperback of Carrie, the paperback silver edition of The Shining, and the 1990 paperback motion picture cover art edition of Misery. Then she also gave me a free credit to use on Audible so I bought the audiobook of The Stand. I also got a Barnes and Nobles gift card for Christmas in 2020 so I bought the paperback first edition of 11/22/63 (mine has the Hulu logo on cover). Then someone on Facebook gave me for free the hardcover book club edition of FireStarter with no dust jacket. Then I bought from Barnes and Nobles online the collectors edition hardcover of The Stand. Then I went to a local bookstore in my town looking for Lisey’s Story by Stephen King and didn’t find the book but I did buy the first edition hardcover of Mr Mercedes for $13.05. The book was in perfect condition other than there was a coffee or soda spill on the dust jacket only. So far that’s all the King books I have.

Yes Hideaway was made into a movie staring Jeff Goldblum, Alicia Silverstone & Jeremy Sisto 😍. When anyone criticises you but to many books, just tell them at least its not drugs 😆 I said this to my mum a few mths ago, she just laughed & agreed & hasn’t said anything since 😆

Ok yes! That’s what I was thinking of, but I wasn’t sure. That movie freaked me out when I was little.

Thank you! I've only read a few Dean Koontz books & your description fit them all. Great stories, keeping me interested, then drops off the edge of the cliff for the ending. So I gave up on him. Good luck though! Maybe they'll work for you.

for me, he wrote such terrible/stock/on the nose villains that were pure evil for evil's sake.
in midnight he started losing me when he had a character's son be a metal head and the dad stomps on the kid's cds and hugs him. what rubbish.
breathless and your heart belongs to me are two of the worst novels i've ever read. did anybody proofread/beta read for him on those?

  • @Memry

First dean koontz book was midnight and I definitely enjoyed it

I went out and bought The Alienist after watching the first episode of the TV show when it first aired. The book was alright. It had some historical details that weren't in the show but overall I thought the show was actually better. The show had better pacing and, in my opinion, improved the story by cutting some details that weren't necessary and added some components to the plot that made it more entertaining.

his daring idea to have no section breaks, no chapters just makes the book that much more compelling.
and i love that he ties it together with gerald's game.

You remind me of me like 5 years ago when I bought all of King's books in like one year, also all older copies😝It's addicting!! Ooh also make sure to avoid spoilers for yourself by reading the synopsis for the dark tower series books before you're reading the series! I think there can be major spoilers on book blurbs in series😭

      the novel's really good though.

I really need to get myself over to the US. Your thrift and charity shops have so many more books than the ones here in the UK. The shops here only ever have a couple of small shelves and mostly just have battered old Mills & Boon and old cookery books. I've never found a pristine Stephen King (especially hardback.)

Koontz is soooo much better then King! The Face of fear is a great book with a fantastic ending

    • @austindolan7182
      @austindolan7182 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

yes but a bad day ready king is still better than a great day reading koontz.
at least king never wrote breathless or your heart belongs to me.
koontz had me as a reader with gems like midnight, shattered, whispers, and watchers. but i think i made the mistake of continuing, and he soon lost me as a fan.

@@austindolan7182 I will agree with you that a lot of Dean Koontz’s newer stuff is pretty terrible. But, so is Stephen King’s newer stuff. Later, elevation, if it bleeds (everything besides the title story). I’ve read a 30 King books and 20 Koontz books. All of The Koontz books I’ve read I have enjoyed. Are they works of art? No. But do they keep me entertained and always leave me feeling like I enjoyed the book. Yes. I haven’t read a Stephen King book that I really enjoyed in the past three years other than the outsider and the Institute.
