Not sure how your going to take the rust off but my brother used something called naval jelly on a star bm and it took all the rust and blueing off and he re-blued it and it looks like new.
Honestly Chris I’d keep this rifle stock .keep it the old Soviet configuration. You already got one tactical now you’ve got one stock . Soviet style 👍🏻

AK's designed to run no matter what they can get finicky when changing things like triggers etc but overall they just run like a swiss watch 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
