Hi Is it good practice to position the last take off branch a few feet from the end cap on the plenum duct? Hypothetically speaking, if the ends of the branches protruded into the plenum duct by an inch or so what effect would it have on the airflow?
Yes. Though I would not go as far as a few feet. 1' is enough. And if the ends of the branches are 1" or so into the duct it will cause disruptions to the airflow. Anything that causes currents and turbulence in the ductwork is a problem. Want things as smooth as possible to prevent resistance. Hope that helps.
