Man I was deployed in Iraq during the 9-6 game. I had a homeboy from Alabama he was a super bama fan. I mean a complete insane bama fan. I wasted so much energy between the no offense and arguing with everybody saying we were going to lose, I felt like I was playing conerback by the end. Then to hear alabama still made it. Under the BCS system they had to put in the 2 best teams. Bama had to play Georgia again in 2021 after beating them 41-24 in the SEC championship game. 🤷🏼♂️
That’s different, Bama and Georgia were both ranked inside the Top 4 when they played the first time, both won their semifinal games in the CFP, both faced each other again for all the marbles. LSU and Bama on the other hand was different because LSU beat Alabama in Alabama and they went on to win the SEC West and the SEC, Bama still got a national championship appearance gift-wrapped for them

The most accomplished regular season team, ever. To have to play a team they already beat at their place again to finish it off was and is stupid. LSU 2011 should have been handed the championship trophy in Atlanta along with the SEC trophy in early-December.
They weren't as good as Alabama that season and everyone knew they escaped that 9-6 game.

Special teams lost that 6 to 9 game, LSU made some great plays, but overall Alabama controlled that game. They played it conservatively and trusted the Kicker, unfortunately the pressure got to him.

It’s not that Bama didn’t deserve a rematch under ANY circumstances, they just didn’t deserve a rematch under THAT circumstance. Both teams won both matches fair and square, it just wasn’t fair for LSU to have to prove themselves in the SEC Championship while Bama gets the automatic bid AFTER losing the regular season matchup. Those aren’t my rules, that’s just simply not how it works in sports. For example, that’s why NFL wild card teams have to prove themselves by not getting a bye week in the playoffs. To be fair, however, I don’t think a rematch favored LSU against Bama under any circumstances due to Coach Miles’ philosophy and approach, which played right into Coach Saban’s hands. Again, that’s not to suggest that LSU’s 9-6 win was a fluke or that they weren’t capable of beating Bama twice, just a matter of matchups.
If it were the 4 team playoff, we know Bama would have gotten in and dominated whoever they had to play then beaten LSU in the natty anyways.

It's funny. In rugby league a player can have 70+ tackles and 30+ carries in eighty minutes. I think the record set in the NRL is around 84. So that's a tackle per minute and between them you are carrying the ball like a running back 20 to 30 times. Oh, and there are no time-outs, breaks between changes of possession, advert breaks etc. Those guys are just insanely fit.

And 80% play the full eighty minutes. No comparison. Check out the NRL's biggest collisions. Mailata is in one of the top offensive linemen in the NFL. If he continues he will certainly be a candidate for the Hall of Fame. But he couldn't cut it in league.
