  • Here is a video about finding chords in a song, here in a major key. See also my video about minor chords, here:
    • Chords in a Minor Key ...
In a Major Key, we have chord I, ii, bIII, iii, IV, V, bVI, vi and bVII.
Many things can be done with these chords, and it is possible to hazard a guess as to what the next chord in a song will be. This is essential practice for jamming, recording, and music in general.

You maanaged to unpack a lot of essential information in less than 10 minutes. Amazing! I will be on the lookout for bIII, bVI, and bVII chords. You chose excellent examples to illustrate all your points. Thank you, Dan!

Very informative video, Dan. Thanks for sharing! BTW, you remind me of Solomon character (Tom Hardy) on Peaky Blinder’s serie 😄

Thanks Dan. Wouldn't have known the theory is easier to figure out with barre chords. good tip.

Hi Dan. Now that makes sense! I was happy with diatonic chords but no one told me about where those other chords commonly used in rock came from! Must get my guitar and work out out some new numbers… thanks!

Hi Dan, might a stupid question but is the "I" (as in Roman number 1) , representative of the key of the song, or just first chord in the sequence/scale? This always confuses me.

“I” means both chord 1 and the key.
