sorry i missed that part. When you attached the collar and inserted the taper pin just copy the taper pin and paste it on the same spot . Use subtract command, select the knuckle joint pin, right click and select the taper pin to subtract.
Actually I have face some problem.when I applied the intersect command and click together after right click the octagon is go back to that position where I extrude before.
Quick question When I make a 90 degree elbow and I use the sweep its not coming out as a solid it looks like two rolled up foil paper inside each other how can I make it solid?

When you select the circle when you do the octagon, select inscribed in circle not circumscribed. Good luck.
