Controversial Opinion: Olimar is the most compelling Nintendo protagonist. Purely because you can kind of relate to him. Him just wanting to see his family but can’t from work is a dark mirror on reality As well as Olimar not being a hero. Some people might say that Samus is because of her sad origin of witnessing Ridkey kill her parents as a kid, traumatizing her. Or maybe even the Hero of Time version of Link, being a kid and having a rough time at birth with dying parents and being given go the great deku tree to be raised as a kokiri to find out years later he’s not, having years of his life skipped and seeing Hyrule is complete chaos, to then beating Ganon and then going to Termina to save an alternate universe from destruction from the goddamn moon, to then eventually dying while trying to find his Navi. Mario, Link, Samus, for example are all destined heroes that were chosen. But what makes Olimar the most compelling is that it he may not be as tragic as other characters, but it’s one that most of us will relate to eventually, and that it’s a realistic scenario. Just an amazon worker but in space

And opposite to nonverbal protagonists. He is extremely verbal as the one who writes all the lore and explains his own backstory which is way more amazing to me than just a silent one that has no freaking personality

Growing up with Pikmin 1+2, this was amazing and I'm glad you enjoy it a lot. I'm so excited to see how it goes in Pikmin 2 and how badly he'll do in a lot of the dungeons
I just replayed Pikmin 2 for my own reasons before the Vernation Exploration. Some of those dungeons have traps that literally require foreknowledge to avoid deaths. It'll be a blast.

Watching you play pikmin was an emotional roller coaster. On one hand you killed half the pikmin species by giving them nectar but on the other hand seeing your reaction to the terrible pikmin AI (especially around water) was hilarious. Can't wait to see you go through pikmin 2's breed of trauma.

This was absolute joy to watch as a Pikmin veteran and I would absolutely watch you play the other games. Seeing a new player experience the empowering victories and crushing defeats of my favorite series is super entertaining. The Pikmin in the original game unfortunately have some dumb AI and pathfinding so it can make navigating terrain a little finicky (Pikmin just wandering into water or getting stuck on walls) but their AI gets better with each game. It makes me really happy to see Pikmin finally getting the mainstream attention it deserves!

Still can't wait for the 5 hour long pikmin 2 compilation. (I am confident Vernias will grab all 201 treasures in pikmin 2, even that area)
Vernias, i need you to open back up the game RIGHT NOW, enter any zone, and just press either of the joy sticks down. (i forgot which one it is) Trust me it WILL be worth it.

The lesson this story teaches you is you can overcome any obstacle if you throw enough babies at it.
The edits over the Pikmin nearly dying (or just dying) is the only thing keeping me for being super sad about them.

I didn’t notice it until rewatching it but apparently at 34:45 Vernias has more pikmin than the game says he has out during the whole reran Smokey Prog fight
I wish I coulda been here for more than the couple streams I was able to make. Still, it’s nice to have seen the DiVERNsion quip in this! Here’s to good times in the other Pikmin games!
