- Dreamy freeride MTB spot - This skatepark is incredible! I visit the Ruben Alcantara skatepark in Malaga, Spain and have a sick ride on my Custom Haibike jump bike on dirt jumps and huge ramps, what would you ride first?
Malaga in Spain is incredible for mountain bike freeride because there are so many spots that are accommodating for MTB riders and this famous Ruben Alcantara skatepark is a perfect example of why you should pack your bike and head over to spain for a shred because it's sick! This world famous skatepark is awesome because it has sunshine almost all year and of course the features are great with dirt jumps, vert ramp, contest size bowl and endless features to ride this really is a dream spot, oh and it's only €3 to get in for the day!! I was riding my custom Haibike dirt jump bike and it worked perfectly in there, what would you ride first?

By semipro really i mean i had a sort of sponsorship with a local bike shop and was also trying to get something worked out with santa cruz but never ended up coming together. This was back when freeride basically just meant big mountain dh type stuff. All the slopestyle stuff they do now blows me away. I could do no handers on a big bike and barspins and some flatland stuff on bmx

@@SamPilgrim not just the bottom brackets but also the rear derailleurs and basically the whole drivetrain on all your bikes you manage to destroy! Lol, also loved the jamie bestwick line. We both know that mtb'ers and bmx are 2 different breeds. Similar but different. U can't ride vert on a mountain bike...it's too big

Hey Sam, I’m not sure if you’ll see this or not but I just wanted to say I am always blown away by your skill level and your commitment to sending tricks on the most difficult and questionable jumps. You are a massive inspiration to me and you’ve convinced me that if you can keep doing what you’re doing, I can get back into riding and sending huge tricks on fun and difficult jumps, which I have been doing. I’ve been subscribed and watching every video of yours for years and it’s awesome to see how far you’ve come, your progress and how committed you are to your channel. Hey Sam Im watching your videos for ultra long and I have a question which bar and stem are you riding on your jump bike
Dude. For that grind box and others like it, you should bring back the pedal grind a la Aaron Chase! What I did back in the day was to remove all of the pins in one side of my pedal and make a sheet metal plate that covers the bottom and wraps around the front and back. Bunny to feeble and just a bit of back pedal, land on the brakes and grind that ledge to glory!
Makes me wanna hit the jumps again! Just been too scared after a hard crash, any advice on how to overcome fear? (even though Sam probably has none lol)
I was hit by a car, had ridden over a decade of bmx without a helmet. The injury left me partially disabled, I had to learn to walk again and such. I overcame fear to try bikes again by investing in good safety gear, easing into it. But at the end of the day my favourite thing was big quarter pipes and stair sets/street gaps so I just started with what I knew I could do. For jumps just get into the flow of things, trust your gear and ramp up to new things slowly.

@@youtubeviewer9523 not a full recovery I'm very much slower on the left side of my body but I can ride a bmx and scooter around a skatepark have some fun get some controlled air time I bought a dirtjump bike it was an older atomlab pimp king frame with dmr revolver wheels and some other random bits mates had laying around but it got stolen after like two weeks. Actually stolen, recovered and stolen again. Best of luck at the trails mate remember it's not a competition you can take it as easy as you'd like.
@@asjmpickle Thank you very much. I will follow your advice and take it easy. My friends are insane at riding and sometimes I feel the pressure and push too hard.
@@youtubeviewer9523 but that pressure comes from yourself not from them. Another thing that's helped me Is spend a day riding flyout, you don't worry about landings or being smooth just get guilt free airtime and can practice any trick you want Found it almost therapeutic to just sit at a small fly out and practice turndowns, tables, spins nothing that involved taking a hand or foot off or going crazy. Helps ya rediscover why you bike to begin with. That and catching a sick flow flowing over jumps can feel better than landing every trick in the world when you get that air and it's just smooth and fast and the landings perfect and the winds rushing through your hair.
