After almost 60 years and thousands and thousands of hours in a blind, tree stand or sneaking through the woods, I have learned that the minute you enter their world your presence is known. The birds sound the alert, the squirrels will follow you along and soon all the animals in that area know there is an intruder.
Once you are settled, little birds will land right next to you and squirrels will drop acorns on your head to try to make you move. If you do the alert starts all over and every animal is looking to see what the problem is. The animals of the forest may not speak the same language but entering their world is like slipping into a pool. There will be ripples.
Great video on the ABCs of wildlife photography. You always find a way to entertain us. Looking good. Keep it up.

A lot of survival channels and teachers don't emphasize enough that people go into the outdoors for a REASON, and not jsut to experience "survival." We go out there to DO something, whether it's hiking, fishing, boating . . . or photography. Thank you for reminding us of this.

Wild Woman Vanessa👍👍 So many subjects to cover in a comment, it would be too much. So, I'll just say WOW a fantastic video and done well. Looks like you really do take your photography seriously and beyond the normal. You have an impressive collection of gear, any photographer would be envious. You look as beautiful as ever and your energy is returning to its exuberant self, so happy to see you smiling again. I'm surprised the wildlife doesn't just come up to you and say.."take my picture Vanessa" account your love for nature. Great video always done well, thanks for your hard work. See you next time. Enjoy!

That was a very interesting video. A little bit of a departure from your normal videos. You always have the best equipment and take the time to explain each item. Loved the entire camouflage on everything. You look so much better these days. Then again you look good always I must admit! You're obviously recouping well and looking good as ever. Just can't get enough of your German accent. It's so adorable. Appreciate how you put the hard work in for each video. Good health going forward. God Bless. 🥰🤗❤🙏

Cotton fabric in a solid khaki (tan) color works quite well. It uses the shadows cast by surrounding vegetation onto your clothing which creates a camouflage effect. It is also cooler in hot weather as it reflects light and the cotton breathes. I have found that clothing made with synthetics can actually have a glossy appearance and reflect sunlight like a mirror surface. If you want to add camo colors to your cotton khaki fabric, you can take a black, fat tipped, permanent magic marker and draw twigs and branches on your shirt and pants. You can draw green leaves on the twigs. To make a home made gillie suit, you can cut green leaf shapes out of green fabric and glue the leaf shapes with fabric glue to the cotton khaki. I use Browning Trail Cameras. They have very clear day and night time video and they also record sound.

Being a professional photographer back in the 80's, we had to work with film cameras and never knew what the results were going to be until the film was developed. You mentioned the white lenses... yes even back in the 80's the ultra-expensive or high-quality camera lenses were always white. Today, a person can get great photos with a DSLR or even an iPhone for that matter. We had to use 120/220 roll film cameras like Hasselblad, Mamiya, Pentax, Rollei... 35mm cameras didn't provide high enough quality for prints up to 8x10 as the negative was too small. Today, the bigger the megapixels, the higher quality of the image will be... the camera can be quite small and produce big results.

    • @HHH22229
      @HHH22229 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@Scadster's World There’s a few out there that have ultra high megapixels… not to my surprise Hasselblad has a 100 mp rig $27,000 and Fujifilm has a 102 mp for $10k. I owned a Pentax 645 when I was in the photo business and they offer it today as a digital camera… Pentax 645Z at 51.4 mp. That’s a very tempting camera indeed! Sony A7R IV 61 mp at $3,500 seems to be a value at that price and has Sony/Carl Zeiss lenses…. You couldn’t go wrong with that combo!

Excellent information. Reminders that the amo changes depending on the time of year and where you are located are important and so is the info on the various cameras as well as how to care for them. I hope a lot of people will use the information you provided to take more wildlife photos! Be well, we all are thrilled that you're back but hopefully won't relapse. Vanessa, you look great even in camouflage. This video is very well done. One of my favorites. You're going to need a bigger bike wagon. 😺 and maybe a bigger car soon.😲 You might run into some of the 2,000 American soldiers sent to Germany. If you approach any, tell them U.S. said to take good care of you or they'll be in trouble when they get home.🤨 Much love from Texas. 💜

Good video Vanessa. I'm a Sony camera(4) guy too :) I've been a hunter for over 60 years. Bowhunter for the last 30+ years. And done some wildlife photography incidental to my landscape photography in Glacier National Park USA.
I would advise you to consult with your hunter friends, especially bowhunters, about the importance for "scent control". The deer and boars(and most mammals) in your area have an extremely keen sense of smell. You should have multiple locations around a trail for blind locations you intend to enter before dawn. You want to always be DOWN wind of the trail or area you are watching. Having the rising sun behind you is always desirable if possible.
Regarding camo. My advice is to use cotton or wool for clothing. The sound of both fabrics rubbing on something are far less alarming than the harsh sound synthetic fabrics make rubbing on virtually anything. The camo fabrics should not reflect UV light.
Many animals are able to see UV light reflected. If your clothes reflect light in the UV or near UV spectrum, animals will pick up your movement in what you think is "the dark". Wash all clothes for your wildlife photography in scent free and UV "brightener free" detergent.
You should come to the states and do bushcraft and photography!
And last...Some "park animals" on the Grinnell Glacier trail in Glacier Park . 😎th-cam.com/video/AoD9Vl-QMT4/w-d-xo.html

Vanessa, not being into photography, I would probably use a telescope attachment (I think the magnification is x 20) to my mobile phone and take simple, probably not very high quality, photos and videos. The advantage is that my equipment costs are small, my insurance costs small, and I travel light. Also , with so much expensive photography apparatus around, you could attract the wrong company. I noticed that Aika was nowhere to be seen. I would always take Aika with me to guard you and your equipment. I haven't even got a GoPro! I think what is really clever is when photographers take pictures of animals giving birth and pictures of the development of the babies. Best of all, I liked the photos of yourself when you were relaxing or in poetic or pensive mood. They were really something! If you made a video on how to plait your hair, using yourself as a model, we would all be experts in tying knots with rope in the forest. What do you think Vanessa? It's always pleasing to hear from you. With all our love xxx.

Hey Gary! LOL! While I'm giving away hunting secrets, here is another one that I'm certain Vanessa can try. I will be using this method when I move back to Florida in a few weeks. "Tree stand photography".
Vanessa, you have forests that have many good trees that will work well with what is called a "climbing treestand". Climbing treestands work well on trees which have no, or very few limbs. Sitting quietly in a tree only 3-4 meters off the forest floor will put you out of the "direct line of sight" of many animals "SOMEtimes" :) I cannot tell you how much fun I have had simply watching "animals be animals" while completely unobserved in a treestand. Higher in the tree(I sometimes went as high as 25 feet-8 meters), higher is better for concealment, but...The downside of photography from a treestand is that the "downward angle" is not great as you go higher. That said, you might get some good shots of bird life like owls. I had a Great Horned Owl fly by me at less than 2 meters while bowhunting in a treestand. Do some scouting this summer for places where deer "rut" in the autumn(consult hunter friends) Look for places to use a treestand to video stags fighting in the autumn. I used to take a book to read and a wide mouth collapsible bottle to pee in while treestand hunting. Now I take a kindle to read...less movement turning pages.
Vanessa I think you would like adding treestand photography to your skills. It's very easy to learn how to climb a tree with a climbing stand. TONS of TH-cam videos on climbing stands.

I learned from the airsoft ghilli suit players, to wrap the cotton camoflage mesh and velcro it together around my Nikon 300 F2.8 lens and D800E camera body. I then use brown micro zip ties to tie artificial 3D leaves onto the mesh creating a 3 D leaf bush effect around the lens. I also add these leaves to my 3D leaf ghilli suit to make a fuller leaf pattern around ones head to make you look less like a human silhouette. You can dye or paint the suit, to match the season you will be trying to camoflage in, like brown and green for summer, and tans, khaki, and more grey for winter and fall, as the plants begin to change colours for winter. You can add yellow, orange and red leaves, with spattered brown and green on them for fall. Burn the edges of the cloth leaves to make them look in different states of decay. Ikea or Micheal's here in Canda, sell grass and various leaves that can be attached with the micro zip ties. Other than that, thank you for sharing your knowledge, on how you approach your photography. Hallo Vanessa, I think you have extensively covered everything with answers to questions on this video about kit and tracking animals for photos.
The only question would be where are you aiming your photography in your career work.
    Vanessa ❤.
