- Surveying is the technique, profession, and science of determining the terrestrial or three-dimensional position of points and the distances and angles between them. A total station is an electronic/optical instrument used in modern surveying and building construction. The total station is an electronic theodolite (transit) integrated with an electronic distance measurement (EDM) to read slope distances from the instrument to a particular point, and an on-board computer to collect data and perform advanced coordinate based calculations.(Thank You WIKI)
In this modern era, the data should be accurate and precise. Also the Survey work should be quick and effective. Total Station does the same. It gives the X,Y and Z co-ordinate of the point precisely just by using the EDM. It also gives the distance, horizontal angle and vertical angle between the points. Not only it does the above work, it also stores the data for further application.

Very detailed explanation of the total station. I watched it to the end and even got some jokes lol i have a special request though... make a video about how to calculate the area of a plot of land or how to determine the height of a building using the total station

How to prepare cad drg on the basis of usb data transfer from total station
There is an option in the export which says export as an CAD File from which you can directly get the points in the form of CAD File. Hope This solves your doubt. U can Further ask if you want. We will be happy to help!
