  • Its MetalDetectingNYC. This was one of the rare occasions where the sand at the beach was eroded and blown down and the heaviest layer was able to be scoured. I used the XP Deus 2 and Philip The Nox used his Equinox 800. We pull some gold and treasure from the sand of the beach!

Hi jack from Baldwin. Received honey badger scoop a little over a month. It made a big difference. It’s very sturdy, no shake in the handle and cuts down on digging time and uncovering a find. I recommend this scooper to all and will be a game changer.

Hello, Look's like you using a RTG scoop? If so, did you install any mesh in the inside to grab any smaller treasures or do you find that you didn't or don't need to improve on their design to capture smaller finds? I search the beaches of the Outer Banks in NC and have had smaller finds fall through the larger holes. I've only found about 6 rings in the past 2 seasons searching just the soft sands. Another guy out here hits about 20 or more a season because he's in the shallow low tide sand. I'm moving to just the water starting this season to take my share of the bounty, but don't want anything smaller falling through the larger holes on my new RTG scoop. Do you use any mesh in your scoop? Really enjoy your videos!

We grid in Hawaii. We start gridding as soon as we hit the beach. This method yeilds me about 300-500 rings a year. I only get out there about 4-5 times a month. I consistently find about 5-10 rings on every trip. The detectorists that don't grid in Hawaii find very little. Just FYI. Maybe in New York where the finds are consistently old deposits doing a V shape works. In Hawaii if you do a V shape you are missing most of our deposits as they are daily deposits. I think on touristy beaches like most of Hawaii you have to grid out the whole beach. A great example would be Robert Ferguson vs Fun with Jim. They both hunt the same beaches. Jim grids and finds rings on almost every trip. Robert does the V shape and hunts deposit rich areas, he rarely finds rings... Its because on touristy beaches the gold is there. Pretty much guaranteed. You just need to swing over it. V shapes may work for non touristy beaches where you are looking for old deposits. But, on touristy beaches with tons of deposits being made daily, I think its better to grid it out. Just my 2 cents. Still enjoy your videos though. Gives me a different perspective on the hobby... When you have to hunt beaches that dont have 5000-10000 visitors on it daily.

The gold jewelry that's been alloyed with nickel gives you a low VDI range of numbers. Copper/Gold alloys in say the rose golds gives another range of VDI's. Then there's older jewelry made with a Gold/Silver alloy that has another higher set of VDI ranges. Bracelets and chains come in really low so cherry picking is going to knock those out. Here in the north east there's old silver coins and plenty of silver jewelry that I personally wouldn't walk by in hopes to "maybe" cherry pick gold successfully. Black magnetic sand with a negative VDI signature combined with Salt Water that has a slightly positive VDI signature makes it extremely difficult for any VLF detector to shoot you an honest signal ID.
I'm ballpark 100 miles south of Merrill on the Jersey Shore. We had extreme beach loss and some serious cuts, twice and we're doing extremely well. I decided to go with my pulse inductor for 2 reasons. One most trash on the beach is somewhat newer so that stuff is out in the water or up on the dunes so digging everything has always IMO been the better of the trade off. It hits small chains, earrings and pendants the VLF's either blank or struggle with. It has superior depth which sometimes isn't great when the hole washes in but it is what it is. Now my biggest reason to never gold cherry pick are the silver Reales, 1/2 Reales and early American silver mixed in with the regular silver coins and jewelry. If I were to push the silver a side I found then replace it with maybe 1 or 2 extra rings I think it would be a net loss in finds. This is personal preference of coarse and not everybody lives in a highly populated colonial era state where it pays off to dig everything but even if you don't count the earlier finds the silver coins and jewelry still far out number digging an extra ring. Of coarse if that is a Tiffany flawless diamond ring it would pay off but that's seldom the case. Even a big heavy school ring is most often only 10k then if the owner is located you still wind up with nothing but maybe a thank you, a hug and rarely an offer of a reward which I won't expect anyway is would jinx the mojo of the whole return it to the owner or their family.
I'm not knocking you or suggesting anything I'm just saying why I personally do better digging Reales then walking by them. And like I brought up so e high karat gold rings up a high VDI over the gold range.
      Good luck and happy hunting
Edit: I forgot to mention a lot of junk falls in the range of gold anyway you can't just sniff out gold. If you can I'd invite you to water hunt with me in some creeks I canoe in to that is loaded with old rings from 50 years of of canoes running about 400 canoes a weekend. There are stops where people stop, drink, swim and donate their jewelry, phones, watches and their car keys SMH. Who canoes with their car keys and wallet I just don't get it? I may not know who but I darn sure know that way too many people do lol. I'd give up some spots to learn to only sniff out only the gold. I call the rope swing spots the pickpocket. Grabbing a thick rope with wet shrunk fingers is what metal detectorists dreams are made of lol. That one you can take to the bank lol

@@jeanponce2017 very well said. So many different alloys and conditions. Sometimes at some beaches every target has a iron tone.👋👍
