Really nice set Gene and thanks to Samarra for some great song choices for a contemplative evening. Lots of transitions. Be well and hope the dental work goes smoothly.

“Wrestling”: a beautiful song. Love the metaphor - very appropriate!
"Soon": great melody and thought provoking theme. Love the instrumental break. Poignant.
"Better Off Broken": a nostalgic, wistful and hopeful song with powerful lines like “Time is not the only thing we kill.
“Make Something Beautiful": love the bluesy change of pace! Great lyrics and imagery! The minor chords really work on “beautiful” and “go” and “knows”.

I am not sure how many people have experienced the amusement, mirth and general feelz of a GB set like this but I am glad I have and do. Thanks for keeping your wacky and beautiful ritual going.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your beautiful tree-friend, and sending wishes for your songwriter friend Gus as well. Love this set of Samarra’s requests! WRESTLING: The title word is repeated at the beginning of phrases as a lyrical “anaphora” (I had to look up that poetic term) which “creates a rhythm and a sense of accumulating emotions and layers of meaning”…all which serves to great effect in this powerful song of love and reckoning. SOON: A poignant and timely reminder…it's probably already later than we think! BETTER OFF BROKEN: Always love this song, especially the unexpected pivot from “broken” to “open”. MAKE SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL: Thought-provoking & inspiring on many levels, including “one and done” kinds of creative expression. Thank you!

Thanks Vic! I was just going to email you a link to this set because I thought you especially would appreciate it. I think I did "Always A Place" last week or the week before in another Samarra's Requests sets. Thanks for the kind words my friend. Love to you, Cathie, Jack and Jack's gf whose name escapes me and also to your walnut tree, long may it squirrel. ;~)
