    WHY did I discover your wonderful videos NOW and not much earlier? They are the best "medicine" against COVID 19 depression on long lonely weekends in these weird times. I forget all my worries and fears when I am sailing with you along the coasts of Croatia and Montenegro - or to the bays of Kefalonia, still a "hidden gem" between Corfu and Zakynthos. I discovered this amazing island when my small cruise ship of "Royal Caribbean" stayed in autumn 2019 for a day at the port of Argostoli. I went by bus to Fiscardo and was delighted about this "unspoilt" picturesque island where I felt like "50 years back in time". I was determined to go back there for at least a week and rent a car - and then came Corona. CAN'T WAIT TO TRAVEL AGAIN!!! P.S. Discovered the beautiful Turkish coast in the middle of the 80s from Bodrum via Marmaris/Fethiye to Demre/Myra by small Gulets. I still dream of the bays of KEKOVA - for sure you have been there, too ;-)

      Thanks so much for the kind words and glad you are enjoying the videos. Yes there are so many beautiful spots from Croatia to Turkey and we still have so many to see and explore. Like you Corona has stopped our travels for now, but hopefully we will be back sailing again late this year. Stay safe and thanks for watching :)

      @@SailingKawai We LOVE it! It is absolutely beautiful and we are able to swim, fish (pole and spear), snorkel, dive, and explore the islands nearly every day. The people we have met have been amazing as well. Our original plan was to go south to Grenada this year but instead, we are going to put our boat on the hard for hurricane season and come back to the Bahamas in January for awhile before heading south. We decided we needed more time here!

    Hello! We are anchored at Kotor right now and absolutely agree with your comments on Montenegro. Amazing. Heading to Croatia next and wondered what your highlights were? We have an 8 and 7 year old so partying in Hvar is not really on the cards. Cheers, Matt

      Hi Matt, oh really hope you enjoy, Montenegro is so underrated! Hmmm that's tricky, it's all very beautiful but quite busy. We plan to check out Vis and Lastovo when we head back which are a little further away from the mainland so thought it may be a little less busy. Our highlights were the old town of Korcula and Lumbarda on Korcula, Brac (submarine cave, Zlatni Rat, Dragon's Cave), and the national parks are beautiful. We also enjoyed the Pakleni Islands. Hard to say, it's all great but hope that helps a little! When do you leave for Croatia?

    Hi guys, sorry I haven’t been in touch yet. Been busy selling up everything. Slow going, as I’m sure you know. Just a quick question? What camera equipment do you use? Cheers Harvey 👍🏻⛵️

      Hi Harvey! Haha, yes we do know exactly how that is, well worth it! We use a canon EOS 70D, go pro 5, DJI Mavic Pro and premier pro to edit. Hope that helps and thanks for watching! All the best with your preps!

    Is ICC required in EU? I have Canadian pleasure craft license and radio license. Do I have to get ICC to sail in Europe?

    • @SailingKawai
      @SailingKawai  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Anthony, we have only ever been asked for ICC in Montenegro and you do require it there or they will turn you away. We have also been to Greece and Croatia and weren't asked for it there however have read online that others have. Not sure about Turkey as an agent looked after our paperwork there. We had an Australian boat license however decided to get the ICC and radio license to make sure we didn't have any issues. Hope that helps :)

      Yes, you'll need an ICC to cruise in the EU. It may not always be required, and will often, and to be without one may mean you'll unable to enter an individual country's territorial waters (or have to leave before check-in). It's virtually mandatory for chartering. You should check with the Canadian authorities, they will almost certainly be the issuing authority, and your existing license should suffice; it's will just be a formality. I obtained my qualification through the UK's RYA, and they were then able to issue me with the ICC.
