Ned actually made the false confession, not for his life but for his daughter's lives. Specifically Sansa's life! He chose to save his daughters over his honor!
Which shows how wrong he had been all along. It took a false threat on his daughters to make him see how he was just making everyone's life miserable for no good reason.
@@Leo_ofRedKeep I don't see how it was a false threat against his daughters. Their lives were literally in the hands of the Lannisters. Granted, they lost Arya, but Sansa was still in their custody. If Ned had been honorable and told the truth, they would have killed Sansa and presumably if they had found Arya, her, too.

So Varys invented that nonsensical risk as a last resort to bash into the dumb dog's head and that finally worked because the man is incapable of thinking in terms of personal interest and bargains. All he knows are principles he feels no need to question or understand. Cersei saw right through him: "you're just a soldier, aren't you? You take your orders and you carry on."

And it didn't need to be. That is not what his friend Robert asked of him. He should have done what Robert asked of him. OK maybe ruling as Protector of the Realm was out of the way but he could have protected Robert's kids and somehow do his best to prevent Joffrey to do too much damage. Baelish told him to work in the system. Not to mention Ned's actions lead to a bloody war that killed his son and wife. And Varys' plan was stupid as Hell. Confessing treason is fine and saying that Joffrey is the true King is fine. But saying he wanted to murder Joffrey was too much. He completely tarnished Ned's reputation forever and even put Sansa in danger.
sansa was slapped by a hand gloved in metal and she didnt flinch AT ALL. it was so strong her lip started bleeding...yet it looks like she didnt feel it. the books gave this scene such a heartbreaking monologue from sansa. she was numb and suicidial (at 11 years old, younger than in the show). she was 100% willing to die if it meant she could take joffrey with her. 11 years old...13 here... she also showed remarkable strength in her monologue, realizing that joffrey wanted her to be hysterical at the sight of her father's severed head. she knew this so she kept her composure-she didn't want to give him what he wanted. As she said, "He can make me look, but he can't make me see."
"Only death can pay for life." Dany cracked the code of how to bring back the dragons: the lives of Drogo, her son and the witch for three dragons, birthed by fire.
Don't get confused. ned didn't say those things to save himself. he did it to protect his daughters. remember the last convo between ned and Varys in the dungeon. ned said he didn't care about his life. that's when Varys said what about your daughters.
Remember the dragon eggs were petrified, basically they were STONES. Dani understood that there was more to them and HER, all she needed was the last piece. Only death can pay for life and there is power in kings blood. Khal = king, that and Dani's son was a prince. She already had credit on Drogos death and also used Mirri Maz Dur's life and her own Targeryan magic to hatch STONES.
Yoren is not planning to take Arya to the wall. The plan is to pretend that she is a boy joining the Night's Watch, until they reach Winterfell. Then he intends to drop her off there.
I don't think there is any great mystery about Pycelle; he likes to play the harmless, feeble old man, while underneath the act he is sharp, cunning and capricious.
Indeed, what I got from his "conversation" with Ros was just him acting oblivious and knowingly sharing his "opinions" openly with her, blabbering about stuff to get her bored, knowing that she'd be bringing that info (or what she remember) back to Little Finger (which more likely is that there's nothing of interest) or there being someone else listening. Mostly saying good things about pretty terrible kings just to be on the good side or appearing, well, naive and harmless, or there being no proof of him slandering Joffrey. If anything, he's aware of the game and his role is acting the harmless oblivious old man who nobody should pay mind to, hence he's been able to survive so far cause nobody wants him dead, which is likely all he wants.
16:30 so yeah, basically Pycelle is putting on a show of being more feeble and confused than he is so that others won't see him as a threat. Gotta hand it to him, it's gone pretty well so far.
I forgot how good the show was back in season 1. I mean Robb as the King in the north, Dany and her dragons, Jon going beyond the wall for the first time. Chills

I love your reactions. You are so emotional about the show and its characters. And yeah, Joffrey's a real piece if work. The really frustrating thing about Ned's death is that it was a nonsensical move. Tywin didn't want it. Even Cersei didn't want it. It doesn't benefit the Lannisters at all. And yet Ned is dead, because cruel little Joffrey had an impulse.
It was more than an impulse. Joffrey is insecure and had to assert himself. This is the result of an absent father ("I should have spent more time with you, shown you how to be a man") and being raised in a princely bubble by a protective mother (as most mothers are). So he rejects the image of the boy who listens to his mother and publicly does the opposite of what she planned.
It’s hard not to tear up when Maester Luwin is about to tell Bran about Ned, and all the way to when Robb finally breaks down. The soldiers are bowing to Catelyn in condolence as the widow to their liege lord, and she refuses to succumb to tears until she’s alone.
Ned was a warrior, and not afraid to die. But I feel so sorry for Sansa’s Septa. I’m sure she wasn’t afraid to die either. But them killing her just sucks. (I do understand why they did it. She could have been a spy for the North. But it still really, really sucks.)
Yeah why would the Lannister murder a religious lady? They should care more than the Starks do cause the Starks don't even follow the faith of the Seven while the Lannisters do.

The disappointment on Joffrey's face when she asks "how long do i have to look" lie if she didn't care lmao that was evrything. Having watched many GOT reactions, I can say that you are one of the few who recognizes that Sansa is a very young girl who has essentially become a hostage of the Cersei and Joffrey. Most people seem to write her off as a simple spoiled brat. But I think Sansa changed the moment they imprisoned her father, and in this episode, we definitely see how toughshe can be. No one is safe from death in this show. As you can already tell, there are two plotlines going on. The "Game of Thrones", and the Night's Watch. The show even began with the Night's Watch, so that does build towards something. Jon's journey is interesting.
16:54 everybody finds their way to survive on Kingslanding. One would be to be useful to the ones in charge. Another way would be to not stand out, to not look like a menace, so you just do your job and people forget that you are there. that's the one he chose
I started watching this show like a month after her and I’m on season 7 already but I honestly wish I did t rush through it and slowly watched it like her
Anytime they give a backstory or talk about the past (like Osha and Bran in the crypts of Winterfell in this episode), try keeping that part in the reaction if you can. The show sprinkles a lot of nuggets and easter eggs throughout the seasons and any information they give is being given for a reason, it all builds to one interconnected story. So even if that stuff seem trivial now it'll be fun looking back later.

It starts off on a brutal aftermath and takes you through as much of a mental and emotional rollercoaster as the rest of the series. Coming out of this season like you did, exited and expectant, is the sure sign. You're now truly one of us! Prepare to be brutally wrenched, savaged and trampled emotionally. Some episodes will leave you on amazing highs while others will devastate you and leave you spent, as you've already discovered. I’m super late to your channel. I love your emotional connection with characters who are usually overlooked early on, like Sansa. Your reaction to Dany’s last moments with Khal Drogo was also how I felt. Reading that scene in the books was even worse; she tried EVERYTHING she could for hours to get any reaction from him, including sexual stuff. I was crying reading that chapter.

If it comforts you, even though these sad moments happen, it makes the other characters grow and become stronger from the things they went through. Sansa and Dany would not be the women they are in the future if they hadn’t of gone through the hardships and pain they endured. I think that’s a beautiful thing about this series. Life is brutal and can be ugly, but from that come brightener days and lessons that could of never of been learned otherwise. I hope you have a great Christmas miya! :D
End of Season 1. I wonder if Miya has caught onto the subtle hints that's been going on with the show. There will be many more hints in the next few seasons and by like season 7 the show will be hitting you over the head with the theme. But certainly what is being hinted is Like Father, Like Daughter.

It was by sleeping with Lancel (her own cousin) that Cersei convinced him to get King Robert drunk during the hunt for him to be killed. So technically, Cersei killed Robert

I’m super late to your channel. I love your emotional connection with characters who are usually overlooked early on, like Sansa. Your reaction to Dany’s last moments with Khal Drogo was also how I felt. Reading that scene in the books was even worse; she tried EVERYTHING she could for hours to get any reaction from him, including sexual stuff. I was crying reading that chapter.

If it comforts you, even though these sad moments happen, it makes the other characters grow and become stronger from the things they went through. Sansa and Dany would not be the women they are in the future if they hadn’t of gone through the hardships and pain they endured. I think that’s a beautiful thing about this series. Life is brutal and can be ugly, but from that come brightener days and lessons that could of never of been learned otherwise. I hope you have a great Christmas miya! :D

End of Season 1. I wonder if Miya has caught onto the subtle hints that's been going on with the show. There will be many more hints in the next few seasons and by like season 7 the show will be hitting you over the head with the theme. But certainly what is being hinted is Like Father, Like Daughter.
