@FirstNameLastName-lk3ng I can't say I've been to Ulman as I am not hasidic, I read an article on the pilgrimage that mentioned wives stay back home at some point. That's where that us coming from.
@@professorquarter Back in 2020, when Ukraine closed the border, most of the pilgrims were stuck there for 2-3 days. I definitely remember seeing women and girls in some of the footage. I'm sure some men go alone, or bring only their sons, but some bring their whole families.
He says at the beginning that it has to do with the impossibility of enforcing sex segregation (which is traditional). In Hasidic Judaism, men most of the religious learning and teaching. It's not like they are banned from Uman or there are zero women. It's not a fundamentalist nation after all.

@@professorquarter Lots of pilgrims bring their whole families to Uman for Rosh Hashana. I think they mostly stay in the hotel or synagogues?
