Yes I did the same over 20 years ago..my aunts cooked for free and my wedding looked catered as gifts. Cousin paid for my flowers as a gift, A friend paid for my unity candles and other candles at my old church. We had the reception at church and cousins decorated as a gift. My mom paid half of my dress from wholesale bridal shop, borrowed my sister in law head piece. The wedding was beautiful. We brought a home a year later. It think it is ridiculous to pay a lot of money for a wedding. I paid $200 for a 7 tier cake. It was delicious. Pictures cost $200 from a self employed photographer as a side hustle.

All great ideas...many times it's the family that pushes for big weddings. I'm good with going small and splurging on the honeymoon.
We went to a family reunion in early April. When extended family found out we were getting married and it was a very small wedding, about 50 people, they pressured my husband for an invitation. He knew he was supposed to say no graciously, but he caved. Not only did they come, but they did not give gifts and we never heard from them again. An extra 25 locust people. I could have invited my extended family, and we did think about it, but it would have been to crowded for our venue. Those who were not invited were not happy. Awkward!
@@kenyonbissett3512 Ugh this is exactly what I don't need. From the moment I said I was engaged I started getting text so when is the day..I have no day planned, it's covid, gas is high. I might elope lol. I said this to my teens and they said, how you can married without a weeding. So easy!!

The dresses are so much is because they are designers, but listening to some actresses they said they don't even pay for those designer dresses they borrow them, so not to spend all that money you see that, a lot of them are rich and they refused to spend all that money to go to premier and the Oscar spending all that money.

We also are having a rustic style wedding with bbq reception. We have a huge family so it's a bit more expensive. But I feel we are definitely on a budget. New subscriber ❤️

I agree about the smaller guest list, ive never understood having 100+ people. I have 25 people I care about coming 6 of whom probably won't+ maybe that many more for his side of the family so if my wedding is more that 50 people I will be very surprised and even that sounds big to me. I am not even engaged yet (although I know it is coming) but am doing lots of research to get an idea of what I would like vs what is useless "tradition" lol.

I never though of even doing in my home I only got a 1 bedroom home we got a medium front room I going to take to my partner when he get home if we sort the flat our and get the carpet we could party at the flat and this would mean we could have our dream party for our wedding maybe I will do the balloon arches and all the balloons myself to save money as I know how to do a balloon arch

I'm not having a wedding because well, I'm 13! I wanted to see if any of these tips could help me with my quinceanera because my mom is a single mom of 5, and being the only girl out of those 5 children meant I can't ask an older sister to help me out and we have a very tight budget considering my mom doesn't make much. This really helped me out because quinceanera's tend to be minimum of 5k, the dress and venue being a really big part of why it's so expensive. Thank you so much and great video!

I still want a beautiful wedding but don’t want to dry my pockets out. Him on the other hand, he wants an intimate ceremony but a huge reception. I want a nice reception too, but he wants it “over the top” because of the kind of people his friends are. I told him that we are marrying each other not everyone else. Yes we want a beautiful wedding but don’t want to be broke or owe people money by the end of it.

My husband’s sister and husband hosted our wedding reception. They did a wonderful job! They had high level jobs in the Pentagon. I wanted a garden wedding. They rented a tent for the long weekend. Our wedding was Friday, Saturday they hosted her office and Sunday they hosted his. They rented the chairs and tables. For them it was just one big party that Memorial weekend. They hired Pentagon catering staff for the three day weekend and Monday the rental service removed everything. They needed to host an event for their staffs, so we got added in. Lucky us because I loved everything. I bought the cake and flowers. They supplied the food and drink. My wedding was at 1pm. The reception was from 1:30 to 5pm. They preserved the garlands and table flowers for their own parties.
