In the backstage, Rob told the girls to "stay metal," and in recent interviews, SU and MOA kept saying that the words, "Stay metal," helped them to endure the hard days under COVID. This show was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

They actually had met at festivals before "Stay Metal" was actually advice from one of those earlier festivals.

Great reaction. BABYMETAL are very appreciative of and respectful to the bands that have gone before them. They pay homage to or have tributes within their songs, performances and even in their staging to bands like X Japan, Metallica, Iron Maiden and more. There was a really good interview straight after this with Rob Halford and BABYMETAL showing each other a lot of mutual respect.
Apparently they were only going to do 'Breaking the Law' originally, but Rob Halford was enjoying the rehearsals so much he suggested they add 'Painkiller' as well.
There is fan cam footage of BABYMETAL with Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers on drums (all dressed up in Kami Band make up) doing this same mash up of 'Painkiller' and 'Breaking the Law' and just Su doing all the vocals - and at the end as Su, Yui and Moa are saying their goodbyes to the crowd as it was the last day of their support tour with RHCP, Chad Smith comes back on stage with a special surprise for Su.

@@crypticmisery7996 Up to that point, not really. She was typically always in character. I feel like it has been since Yui officially left and they became a duo that both Su and Moa decided to round themselves out, or even out their characters onstage. Su has been smiling and happy more, while Moa has looked serious more and not smiling *quite* as much. That is to say that Moa has gone more metal and Su has brought more of herself out in their characters.

Two of my favorite performers on stage together. I am 67 and saw Judas Priest at the Dallas Civic Center in 78 by accident. I went to see BTO and Foghat and had 2nd row, center on the floor. When the lights went out this band started playing and for the next 45 minutes they melted our faces. As a guitarist I was in heaven standing right under Downing, Tipton and Halford. No motorcycles, no chains, no leather. Just some guys in street clothes killin' it. They became my all time favorite band,
45 years later and 5 years ago, I stumbled across Gimme Chocolate and was blown away. I absolutely love this Pop/Metal fusion and I kept my guilty pleasure to myself - until Halford joined them on stage. Now, I am a 67 year old hard rock guitarist who is a BABYMETAL Fanboy and I don't care what my age group thinks of it. Attending a BABYMETAL concert is at the top of my bucket list. I already saw Halford at the top of his game. Now I want to see The girls and Kamiband play Headbangeeerr and Karate.

I think I read somewhere that originally they were only suppose to peform "Painkiller" with Rob, but during rehearsals Rob suggested that they add a 2nd song. Rob is a good guy and gentleman....after this performance, he and the girls were interviewed and he spoke highly of the girls while the girls sat next to him looking up to him like daughters admiring their father. That interview is on TH-cam too.

It's certainly not the most perfect live-show, but I love it for two reasons in particular:
    - As you said, the pure fact that these two bands from two ends of the world that could hardly be more different are sharing the stage is awesome. And it doesn't look like the godfather of Metal showing the kids how it's done, there's an air of mutual respect that I find very touching. In an interview after the show Rob called Judas Priest the roots of Metal and BABYMETAL the future of Metal. What more of a compliment could you get?
    - The girls are having so much fun, it almost feels like we are getting a rare glimpse at private Suzuka as opposed to professional Su-metal, which is great to see. I particularly love seeing her play air-guitar with Rob during Breaking the Law, it always gives me a huge smile.
I think we can safely assume that the girls' guitars aren't audible, although Moa had taken guitar lessons for some time at that point.

I second what autohmae said. When they said they didn't listen to metal, that was from a fairly early interview when they were explaining how the whole creation of BABYMETAL happened and how they had never listened to metal before being introduced to it by their producer, Koba. He had to explain various aspects to them so they understood the metal culture better before they started performing.

Babymetal are very humble and respectful of the Legend band that came before them. They even pay homage to legendary band in their concerts. Su-Metal says in an interview that Babymetal still learning the ropes of the Metal genre and community. Rob Halford of Judas Priest is one of the Legend who support Babymetal. The guitar that both Moametal and Yuimetal plays are ESP Custom Made Mini Arrow which is specifically designed for Babymetal.

  • @ANDOR-
    @ANDOR- 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

All speculation: Moa and Yui maybe played the intro riff together and I can see Moa playing a bit more (maybe even the whole song or almost all of it) because she can play guitar. Yui on the other hand probably mimed most of her playing, there's nothing known about her playing guitar or any instrument for that matter.
Moa also plays the acoustic guitar part of the intro and in the middle of their song Shine at her 20th birthday concert Legend M in 2019.
What you said about "honoring Legends", BABYMETAL does it from the beginning. For example, they have so many X Japan references in their shows (especially the earlier ones) and even "modeled" two of their songs after X Japan songs. BABYMETAL are also big Metallica fans, they always name them first when asked who influenced them. Both bands performed at the same festival, Summer Sonic 2013, and BABYMETAL said the Metallica performance at that festival was the point in their careers when they really grasped what metal was all about. Lars Ulrich was also one of the first western metal legends to publicly endorse BM after that festival.

And Travis is immediately in the mood with the control . I noticed not today but in this last days the nails with "two" colours . Red and White . All i have listened in this videos i "approve 100%" eheh . During the principle parts of the song so not the introduction and not the refrains the rythm it would be more or less a 4/4 with accent on the first Note every two passages of the sequence in 350 bpms with the double kick . So real 350 strikes a Minute : 125 each pedal . That is the contortion in the definition by a Metronome Method ahah

Many top icons are big supporters of Babymetal. Initially this upset many “ metal purists” ( snobs). Fans even berated Rob Zombie for having a photo with them. Babymetal have moved the metal genre into unknown territory , as you will see as you go through their catalogue. Doki Doki morning was my WTF moment with them. Gimme chocolate put me on my ass and headbanger dragged me kicking and screaming into the foxhole.
    Two rules to remember:
    1. Moa isn’t SMOL. (Small).
    2. Don’t upset Queen Su. That death stare chills you to the bone.
Great reaction , keep em coming.

Lol Su out there living her best life. Moa like look at me all metal and shit, Yui is like holy shit I'm doing it, I'm doing it! Boh back there just vibing, Mikio is always a gem RIP, Ohmura always puts out endless energy. Aoyama the god of drums and Rob living their dream with them. Also tbh, most bands love and respect each other, particularly in the metal community, so many collabs it's crazy. It's the fans that are shit turds and berate everything and ruin stuff for the rest of us 🤷🏻‍♂️. Just about every band I know has taken photos with, praised, wanted to collaborate with, or generally thought well of what Babymetal is doing. You wanna see the haters, go to any comments section or talk to your friends lol

ah, one of those elitist, snobby "metal purist" douchebags. i knew people like you existed, but never have i encountered one in the wild before... lol.
what little weight this non-argument might have possibly carried gets lost when you remember that Rob Halford is FAR from the only big name in the metal/hard rock genres that have fully accepted & embraced them. from Rob Zombie to Jonathan Davis to the entirety of Metallica, Slipknot, Slash, & many others.
if you don't like the more pop side of their metal-pop style mashing, that's your own prerogative. but how can you come into the comments whining & stomping your feet over something having the audacity of being different than you're used to & not feel horrendous embarrassment at what your life has become? this shit makes you no better than a petulant child, sorry not sorry. die mad so BABYMETAL can outlive you.
