I didn't know California is going through a ban with Red Dye 3, but I will say my nephew is literally restricted from it by his Doctors because it affects his seizures.
My daughter was allergic to Red 40 when she was younger. She grew out of it luckily. But hers was a serious allergy. Whole body would be hives and she would have to have breathing treatments. I didn't realize how much they put that in things that weren't even something you would think normally. We were on vacation and just wanted to get something quick and easy so we ran to the grocery store to just get some hotdogs. For some reason I checked the ingredients and of course it had Red 40. I was so glad I had checked. The crazy thing is that we got lucky figuring out she was allergic to it too. She had been having this reaction and couldn't find what she could be allergic to. She was only about 9 mo old. Well she had been eating some fruit loops and happened to spit one out and it was sitting on her arm. Next thing you know this huge welt from where it was touching her skin.

My dad swears by olive oil. I've tried it a few times when i overestimated my spice tolerance and, idk, maybe we're just fooling ourselves but I think it works?
As someone who is obsessed with the type of Buldak stew and eats one every month, I can say that the best thing to help with the spicy is something acidic like pickles, that’s why most mukbangers have something pickled in their videos.
1:57 Part of the reason they likely say it may not cause harm is because we can't do testing on humans, and sometimes rat and mice studies are wrong! Not in that they contain incorrect findings, but that they sometimes are not applicable to humans. It's important to remember still we are two (or three) separate species, and there are differences in our morphology that will create different results in tests. I was in a behavioral and neuro genetics class this past semester, and we were shown an actual example of how these rat/mice studies may not be accurate to humans, as the example we saw the results for humans and mice were complete opposites of each other. (If people have any interest in that study, I can go back through my notes and see if I can find it from there)
A little known fact for US chicken consumers. Chicken raised and sold are not allowed to be on hormones. As is with any US farmed poultry. No hormones is a marketing thing. They were banned being used in to 50's. Articles and even in the USDA FAQ this information is seen.
most states have already banned hormone pumped food, so don't get deceived by just the label "no hormones added" and look at the other things labeled. Food education is just as important to financial education, everyone take care of yourselves as must as you can! :)
Lol, my country banns everything 😂 we do have very strict food controls, though, for which I'm honestly glad. They also control if companies try to lie with their consumables. Like, when they say their olive oil is extra virgine, they literally test it if it's true. They even control the labels etc. Like, if the company says their olive is from some specific province in Italy, they check the legitimately. I ordered some twinkies to test from amazon before though..lol. But, you can get other products from hostess in special shops that sell stuff from around the world.
Fun fact: Capcasin is what you find in all chili peppers 😂 higher the the scovile unit higher is the amount of capsacin [watch nile red make pure spicyness]
capsaicin isnt that much of an issue. you are a lot more likely to just have some stomach issues at worse rather than any sort of identifiable nuerotoxic effects.
My issue is that they won't replace Red Dye 3 with beet extract or annatto and will replace it with Carmine or cochineal extract (those are cheaper). That's crushed up bugs that live on the agave plant (the same one for agave sweeteners and tequila). I have an epi-pen for it because the allergy is that severe to it and wasp stings.
And when you find a brand that does use beet and annatto, it's some waspy organic extra expensive health food brand that charges 20 dollars for a package of 6 cookies.
My boss's son was having severe psychological issues and eventually out of desperation they cutout red dye after his wife read an article of an experiment in I think Australia. His issues went away almost completely. That stuff is not good.
We loooooove buldak noodles, but we never do the full packet of sauce cause it's too much. We often add a bit of (coconut) cream and eat it with roasted, salted peanuts and scallions :D
About the chicken: it is added a lot of saline water in the cheaper one that you bought, that’s why have that looks. It is not because of the chlorine wash.
I get everything on that list, but the hot noodles with Capsaicin. I mean, they warn you, that they are hot. By that logic, every spicy food should be banned and that would be pretty sad. I had the three times hot noodles once, they had a package with powder and that sauce, which was nearly black. I used all of the powder (it was mostly flavor and not very hot) and just a third of that sauce package and that was pretty spicy, but ok. I gave the rest to a colleague, who loves really spicy food.

There are so many American products banned in Canada due to health and safety concerns. It's funny how we're neighbours but can vary so widely. I once went to a grocery store here in Canada and over the poultry section they had a sign painted which said something like "unlike American chickens, Canadian chickens never have growth hormones added to their feed!". Apparently growth hormones for meat, poultry and dairy are almost entirely banned here save for a few exceptions for cows.

Why do they need so much time to reformulate some basic food dyes? Just replace them with non-banned alternative dyes. When the dye is even needed in the first place.
The ban was made because ONE mom complained, we can still get ridiculously spicy stuff like the one chip challenge for example, it's literally only those 3 noodles.
I think the point of boxed mac and cheese is that you don't need to do any extra steps, if you are in a rush or too tired. Banning buldak for containing capsaicin is a bit weird to me. What might be usefull is a warning that it might be too spicy or can cause nausea if not used to spicy foods. I tried to find capsicin concentration compaired with chilli peppers but could find it (if someone soes please share). It is true that capsaicin is a "neurotoxin" because it can reversibly inhibit pain receptors. reversibly means they need a while but they get their full function back. Capsaicin is used to numb neuropathic pain (pain caused by nerve damadge) but it needs quite a few applications and the pain comes back after one to a few months. So what I am trying to say is I doubt that these noodles are more dangerous then a very hot pepper.

Capsaicin is just what makes your food spicy, I never heard of it being dangerous, just to those who are unused to spicy the next day will hurt bad 🤣. Too much of anything is bad, some people do love it spicy as heck though.

Imagine developing and spending money on all the artificial nonsense when the taste and colour already exist in nature. As a South African who has visited the US (great country and love the people) it does feel over processed, and everything tastes sweet.
i am mostly shocked about pez. Pez is from Austria, and we don't use those toxic ingredients here - Austria has even stricter regulations than most other EU countries. And yet, in the pez produced in america those ingredients are there.
It's surprising. The Austrian and the international Pez websites state "no artificial colors" and don't mention those dyes in the ingredients, so I am really puzzled that American Pez has this stuff.
I like that California and other jurisdictions are at least giving the companies a period of adjustment. That's pretty crazy stuff regarding PEZ. I'm not surprised by the meat products that are banned in some countries as the EU is VERY stringent when it comes to these things. Let's just say the chaos caused by things like Mad Cow and Foot and Mouth disease has made them vigilant. As a Canadian I remember when KD removed the offending food coloring. A LOT of people lost their cool over it but honestly as we saw in this video the noodles look pretty much the same. I gotta try that KD hack though! Also vegetable oil in soda.....That's just WEIRD! That Orange Drop looks like nuclear pee!

So is it only going to be in CA? If yes will they make special ones for CA? Hmmm
i am mostly shocked about pez.
Scotswoman here irn bru is pronounced iron bru and was recently reformulated

I love buldak noodles, but I also love super spicy food lol

Stock up California!!!
