I know someone who has a 1.0 ecoboost eco sport, He drives up and down the country often and gets car serviced twice a year and has had zero issues and it's a 2016 model.

I have a 2015 focus eco boost over 100 thousand miles and never had a issue. I have had regular oil changes with the right oil that is essential.I had the sump off and checked my pick up it was clean

@LesBootle56 yes wrong oil, lack of servicing and e10 fuel all cause early degradation of the belt.

The manuals are missing both the tensioner and the ballancing shaft. Therefore, there is less stress on the oil pump belt. I believe it is significant less stress, which helps the belt work for longer.
However, it is easier to drop the sump on these new engines because there is nothing in the way (no exhaust pipe) so it might be worth checking the belt before 100.000 km.
By the way, I read that the sump bolts must be replaced if removed. Is this true? Why? What are they made of, aluminium or steel?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the info. It’s difficult to get any accurate info in this ongoing disaster by Ford.

This is what wrong oil does.
Got a 2020 50k Focus 1.0 Ecoboost (B7DA chain drive) with P0524 low oil pressure - also showing 0psi oil pressure, phasers sound knocky.
From what I've seen this is quite common if not serviced or wrong oil used. Apparently happens sooner on the autos than the manuals.

Thanks, a very honest and revealing vid. Ford seem to wanna throw their excellent reputation in the bin. Shame. The Ford 4 cylinder engines always lasted forever. Crazy.

Forgot to ask, does the chain ecoboost have that stupid floating crank pulley with the reluctor pickup on it?

My only concern would be , seeing that the engine oil strainer was so blocked . Would this not also have caused oil starvation concerns and possible internal damage to the engine and other components ? based on the cooling system issue as well , and the cost of the repairs so far , there is a potential that this could amount to a more substantial repair bill in the near future .

all ways a risk there was no pil pressure faults surprisingly and no signs of engine wear.

I'm not a specialist, so i don't understand why they kept a plastic belt.. If the belt is remplaced by a chain, where does this 2nd belt comes from ? Thank you.

2nd belt runs the oil pump!

@@bathlanegarage9797 alright! And of course, this belt soaks in oil... Shitty design.. I've always wondered what kind of engine I have. My focus is from 2019, but maybe was conceived in 2018... That's the year of the shift. I've seen somewhere that chain engine doesn't have the big metal thing in front of you when you open the front of the car.... But not sure...

@tokiwi_ I've seen chains from 2018 onwards. if turbo is at front yiu have belt turbo at back of engine you have a chain

@bathlanegarage9797 can't tell... My car is at the garage RN, problème with oil pressure... So can't check.
      Thanks anyway!
