Glad the acid trip of "Animal Flow" didn't scare you off of Ren. He's got a great feel-good groove called "Power" with him and his cinematographer buddy, Samuel Perry Falvey, driving around and just having fun. It's "All written, produced, played, mixed and mastered by yours truly" according to Ren's description. It'll help pick you up before you get into some of his other heavy songs or rapid-fire rap.

I loved "Animal Flow's" interpretation of the Orwellian "Animal Farm"...having the 7 tenants at the start...then the nod to "Clockwork Orange" and Willie Wonka. To dismiss it as just an acid trip...no way :) But I get it.

@@YoreHistory Yeah. I get it. I could just tell from their reaction, that was the way it hit them. I don't think they mentioned "Animal Farm" or "Clockwork Orange" in the reaction, so I think they were just lost in vivid images.

Pretty sure it's in Brighton - a cool town on the English South coast, with a vibrant "arty" scene. He's been playing on the streets there for ages - a friend of mine used to busk with him a few years back.

You already know Ren. The others are Glen Chambers on drums, Gorran Kendall on bass, and Romain Axisa, guitar solo. This same set went right into Black Sabbath "War Pigs", and I believe it began with The Rolling Stones "I want to Paint It Black". Good day in Brighton!

You will hear a lot of reggae influence in Ren's music but then you will hear a lot of other influence too. The man is a musical sponge! 🙂 He has no genre and a thousand styles and faces! Another couple of street performances with The Big Push that are well worth mentioning are the Black Sabbath mashup "War Pigs" that immediately following this. Also from another session Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard. The rabbit hole runs deep and is incredibly varied. Continued exploration will not disappoint!

Another enjoyable reaction. "The Big Push" (Ren Gill, Gorran Kendall, Romain Axisa, and Glen Chambers) busking sessions, concerts, and live recordings all are amazing and well worth checking out. All but the drummer sing lead vocals at times. Ren, Gorran, and Romain all play multiple instruments. Ren plays acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, and drums. Gorran plays acoustic, electric, bass guitar, and harmonica. Romain plays acoustic, electric, bass guitar, ukulele, and piano. They are each incredibly gifted artists, and their solo work is completely different from each other. Well worth checking out. Their other covers of "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble So Hard," "Watch Out," “War Pigs,” “Roadhouse Blues,” "My Generation," “Paint It Black,” "An Englishman in New York," “Bongo Bong” are awesome, too. On “These Boots Are Made For Walking,” “Praise You” (Fatboy Slim Cover), “What Kind Of Woman Is This,” all three take a turn singing. The songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive.
The band, at least for the time being, performed their last official busking session and gave their last concert in September of last year (2022) due to the fact that Ren was leaving for Canada to undergo specialized medical care and surgeries for his multiple health issues.
Gorran Kendall is a singer/songwriter/busker from the UK. He is the guy on the bass. As a solo artist, he is a folk singer, and his music is reminiscent of 60s folk. I love Gorran's music. (www.youtube.com/@GorranKendall)
Romain Axisa is originally from Toulouse, France, and started playing the guitar at age 12. At age 14, he was the singer in a rock band and later became a rapper. Romain sings lead on a few "The Big Push" songs. His solo music is unique, and I don't know what genre it would be categorized as. I really enjoy his music as well. (www.youtube.com/@RomainAxisa) I have Romain and Gorran on a couple of my Spotify playlists.
The members of "The Big Push" are all independent solo artists who struck up a friendship, moved in together, and formed the band. Ren Gill, Gorran Kendall, and Romain Axisa take turns singing lead vocals at times, except for the drummer Glen Chambers. However, each of the band members is currently pursuing a solo career due to Ren's absence. They also recorded some songs yet to be released. No telling what the future holds for them, individually or as a group. Here is the link to their YT channel: www.youtube.com/@TheBigPushBand

I knew you would appreciate this performance, they have a few videos from this particular day of busking worth checking out. The next one I would recommend is Ren with Sam Tomkins performing Earned It/Man’s World/Falling, Sam is a great singer and Ren shows off more of his guitar work and beat boxing along with a great rendition of Man’s World

Is it bad that (as a Canadian and part of the Commonwealth) I was watching this with the Coronation on in the background and played it whenever the choir was singing. Ren's Welsh right... so I got the accent right at least. The choir was great but there was a lot of singing. You'll find with Ren you never know what you're going to get. After Animal Flow I wasn't sure you'd dip in again...lol. I really like you're energy, it just seems like you're all about enjoying the music and not overly aggressive with the intro.. thanks for that.

Hey guys, just a heads up that you’re audio level on the videos is like 50% where it needs to be compared to your vocals, as we can barely hear that audio from the artist…. Also, would love to see some of your reaction a bit during the song as he’s killing it… ❤

And the other videos he truly a phenomenal guitar player. They do Stevie wonder and Ram Jam black Betty he was killing it on guitar

    • @donmowatt
      @donmowatt  ปีที่แล้ว

By saying it wasn't technical? It wasn't.. but it was still fantastic. Did you listen to the full review or are we just picking and choosing bits of my sentences to make assumptions about..? Id rather LISTEN to paint dry than listen to Yngwie...not sure why you chose him to make the example out of.. He's honestly not the most technical person but he's an easy target.. I'm not going to tell you what's a 'phenomenal' guitar player and it's silly to make the mistake of assuming who I think IS one. Also I'm unsure if you missed the parts where I said this was sick.
It was good guitar playing - phenomenal? ..eh.. opinions aren't worth arguing over.

  • @user-xo3hr2pc2f

Not difficult, technical guitar play, for "me" at least??? Pray tell. Show me how good you are. You could have just stuck with how skilled they all are/where. At the seems, You decided to try to promote your own skills instead. Do link at least one or two videos of your superior guitar play. I'd love to see that. Have a nice day. 😄
