    Basically bad decisions are one thing. Lack of effort is a totally different thing. The goal where he stops skating and just gives up drives me 10x more crazy than anything else.

      completely agree, and Bouchard has done that numerous times this season.

      laziest player in the league. He's so talented but so lazy.

    Bouch is above playing D...
    This is even on his wikipedia page after "doesn't bend knees..."

    I've never seen an NHL defenceman who cares less when the puck is not on their stick than Evan Bouchard.

    The ONLY reason to have Bouchard on team canada is if they want him there to QB a PP unit with McDavid... but there is Makar... so just don't....

      Mcdavid playing with Makar is so OP.

      Agreed. He’s also terrible on the pp this year! Can’t get shots through. Slow decision making. Coming from someone who has watched every painful minute of Bouchard this yr. there’s talent, but he’s don’t nothing to deserve a spot.

    Another "GREAT" game from the Oilers! They conceded “only” 5 goals 🤣with amazing help from defender Bouchard 😂😂
    and the magical goalkeeper “Skinner the Winner”😝. What a game! what a coach Knob!😂

    I’m so excited for Edmonton to over pay Bouchard because the media hypes him up. Yeah he can put up points but doesn’t do the one main thing he needs to do and that’s defend. I heard the tall foreheads talking about 10 mil for Bouchard. Would you pay Tyson Barrie 10 mil? That’s who Bouchard will end up most resembling.

    Bouchard is the laziest "best defenceman" ever. And Oilers compare him to Hughes and Makar? Gtfo.

    If you're a leafs fan you want Tanev RESTING.

    • @paulkim5502
      @paulkim5502 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yeah I thought this too. Its a competitive setting with high octane players; no point risking a tanev injury. Really hope he doesn't make the team for the Leafs sake

    • @NathanExplosion1989
      @NathanExplosion1989 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @paulkim5502 I'm a flames fan and I wish Tanev got a lot more rest than he did, even though he was a healthy flame. He is the single best pure defender in the league. Last time I checked he was the leader in blocks by 7. He gets hit to make a play lots. He wouldn't ever say this, but he needs rest

    • @baylaust
      @baylaust 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah... I've been loving Tanev so far. He's the kind of d-man whose play you don't really notice, but when you do, he's just doing everything right. And more importantly, he's the kind of d-man who will do ANYTHING to stop a puck.
      And it's that last part that worries me. It's great for the team... it's not great for Tanev. So giving him time to breathe during the tournament would be pretty nice.

  • @shanegleeson5823
    @shanegleeson5823 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    up 3-2 against USA with 5m left. Do you want Tanev taking minutes or Bouchard. Down 3-2 with 5m left you want Makar or Bouch out there.
    That's why he's not ready. It's ok, he'll have a great career if he starts playing like he's about to be cut, that's whats missing from his game.

    This is what always happens when people hype up a defenseman just because they put up flashy numbers, OMG LOOK AT ALL THE POINTS BEST IN THE WORLD?!?!?! Then as soon as they/their team loses the ability to outscore their problems, you realize how terrible they are at the first building block of their position... actually being able to defend.
    You'd think people would have learned their lesson with Erik Karlsson but nope; guess you can't blame most fans since they mostly shape their opinion on players from other teams, that they don't watch that often, etc. from analysts and analysis love pumping up anyone that puts up big points. It's one of my biggest gripes with hockey analysts; any player that can put up points has to be best in the world. Have to hand him the Norris.
    Sorry, you actually have to be able to defend. This isn't the NBA.

    • @godawful5600

    You guys were literally mad a few weeks ago for Canada potentially adding Wilson because it was a player they felt gave something they didn't have and you guys said just pick the better player, but now we are talking about Chris Tanev replacing Evan Bouchard because team Canada doesn't need anymore of the same player?????

    He sucks defensively rn but it's like people forgot that when it mattered the most (playoffs), he was not only absolute beast offensively, but when it comes to decision making and defending, arguably better than ekholm. He is gonna be fine.

  • @Redwing47
    @Redwing47 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    This is middle of Nov. and Bouchard and Ekholm are already running on empty. Knoblauch has no choice but to overplay them witness the times Edmonton defensemen have to go into the other teams corners. The team is not deep enough and salary cap issues prevent making improvements,it’s to bad that 97 and 29 don’t have the support they deserve.

    10:20 I absolutely hate this about Bouchard and there are numerous instances of him coasting behind opposing players in games especially this season. He is a liability in his own end. To the point of winning his minutes: last season he was +34, so far this season he is minus 1, he was minus 3 against Montreal. And I hear the Oilers are considering paying him 10 million??? Boggles the mind.

    If I were team Canada I would not touch Bouchard with a 10 foot pole. He is big and has a bomb of a shot but he is junk defensively. Team Canada does not need a bomb from the point on their team because if team Canada ever has a powerplay, Makar is on the ice. Team Canada needs defensive dmen on the back end not offensive dmen

      Canada’s adult men’s team, during the 2024 IIHF relevant top-division tournament, had quite a few passengers. Yes Pierre-Luc Dubois and John Tavares put up, over seven games, loads of points, but with respective plus-minuses of -2 and -4. Jordan Binnington also allowed multiple ugly goals, including in the bronze-medal game that the relevant Canadian team would go onto lose.

    Literally bank it off the boards past OEL and let Mcdavid try to win that foot race that's also a better option then a FULL CROSS ICE PASS!

  • @deanm3464

    Bouch just needs to do better in general, he's been turning the puck over to the opposing team on the regular and then just coasts down the ice allowing it to become a breakaway or a 2 on1!

    I am tired of people comparing Bouchard to Hughes. As it stands now, Bouchard is a good player if he wants to be - hell of a shot but definitely benefits from the Oilers PP. Hughes? He IS the Vancouver power play. Bouchard is a player, Hughes is a manager.

    the 4 nations should be 4 nations and the rest. With the Stanley cup champions GM and Coach to bring together the rest of the team. Allowed to grab from those not taken by the different nations.

    Fascinating player. He's either playing like a generational defenseman or a beer league defenseman. One of the most offensively gifted defenseman we've seen in the last 30 years. But one of the worst defense you will ever see.

    Dobson is also a bit d-suspect, but a better skater than Bouch. Oilers are not doing it this year. They need folks who are currently delivering, not on past or projected. Stamkos at 34 is not 200 ft physical. The guy has had tragic injury luck and had to temper his on puck aggression.

    The next game you watch, please count the number of times they make a pass like that. Most of the time it will get through. There was nothing wrong with it. Bad timing/bad bounce led to the chance for Knies.
    Sometimes i think you guys need to play the game more rather than just talk sgit about it.
