Totally agree with you. I just lived 2 years in Bangkok after living 3 years in Bali. And right now I'm back in Europe again, to get my financial situation in order. I love being among the thai people, and then vibe. It seems to me that asia is on the way up - while the west is on the way down.

This brings back memories of deciding to move from the northwest USA to its southwestern corner. The dreary weather affects some people more than others. Even though trying to adjust to the slightly higher cost of living here almost bankrupted us, in the long run the move helped my family through being able to be outside and riding my bike as transportation more and stop performing contracting gigs and keep a permanent position since my lifestyle change made me able to perform at a higher level on my job and thus able to afford the higher cost of living.

No way! You're from Donegal and I thought of catch your accent. I lived in Donegal 14 years all of my mixed Thai/Irish niece/nephews also living there. But myself moved back to Thailand for this period.
I agree with you after moving back to Thailand. Many things has changed in Thailand, more conveniences, better, improvement and safety, cost of living a lot lower than Dublin, but you still have modern city vibes in Bangkok like many other rich City. 🎉😊
Many foreigners have noticed Thai really adore and respect Farangs. 😊

Completely agree with you. The States are a disaster. Spring 2024 last year in the west. Hong Kong is my dream. Lived there before but housing so expensive. Thailand 2nd choice. Housing there a quarter the price if not less than Los Angeles.
But atmosphere in Japan is suppressing as well

oh man if you thought the UK was depressing, wait until you get to Japan lol. I hated it and was so glad to be coming back to Thailand where I am now living.
I couldn’t quite put my finger on what was wrong with the west but the “division” is probably the key. They have been dividing us for years and I just don’t know why. Everyone works against you (especially the council and government) which is the complete opposite to Thailand. Everyone here seems to be in agreement and going forward as a nation.
My home country (Scotland) has been divided for as long as I can remember and now has the highest drug abuse rate in Europe - I can see why, it is a depressing hole that I am so glad to be out of.

6:18 Are apartments really amazing? They don't have kitchens and many are ghetto. I mean REALLY 3rd world. I used to live in On Nut, Bangkok. It was $100 for just 4 walls and a bathroom. That means people have to ALWAYS eat out. Food poisoning anyone? Unfortunately, your food bill and Bangkok can be the same or more expensive than the West if you're eating Western food.
The main takeaway is that apartments in Thailand are the equivalent of a University dorm. Meanwhile, condos in Thailand are the equivalent of an apartment in the west.
I think that's a very important distinction to make otherwise people may expect that they'll have a Western standard of living on the cheap when, in fact, they won't.
It's also important to know that some apartments, especially outside of bangkok, will not be rented to westerners due to cultural differences and language barriers. Thai people want to rent to only Thai people because westerners can be too loud, or do something about etiquette that's not okay in the country.
Thais try to avoid confrontation and that's why some outside of the Bangkok area do not want to rent to westerners.
I've experienced this in Phuket too.
