You had better luck than I did. I called an RV park in Arizona to make a reservation for one week and was rejected due to the age of my rig. It’s a 2003 and like you I baby my class C. I offered to send photos to prove how good it looks (it runs as great as it looks) but I was told there were NO EXCEPTIONS. By the way, their age limit is FIVE years. I personally don’t know anyone that has been able to pay off a brand new C class RV in less than five years. We took six years to pay off my wife’s 35k dollar auto loan. So basically even before the RV is paid for it is possibly too old to use it in some campgrounds. Hopefully they’ll go under and a reasonable company will purchase them

Denying entry is much easier than removing a squatter.

I’m willing to bet that there are a lot more 15 and 20-year-old RV enthusiast out on the road then there are deadbeat squatters. Just because your rig is not five years old or less does it mean that you’re a deadbeat?

@@garym4956I think what they're looking at is how well the RV is maintained. Deadbeat squatters tend to neglect their RVs. I would think that if you drove into an RV park and your rig is in good shape and clean, they wouldn't turn you away.
You can tell a lot about a person by the way they maintain their RVs.

Ok you got lucky, there are lots of others that will stand by their rule and alot of them are not worth staying there.

Our experience was the same as yours when we had an older travel trailer. We made it look like we had PRIDE in it and it really made a difference. Parks NEVER said it was too old.

I have watched several TV shows and videos of people renovating vintage RVs and making them far better than most of the new one's out there.. Making a hard fast rule against anything over ten years old seems to be over doing it.. If someone has a 9 year old RV and they have never cared for it, it will look far worse than a well cared for RV of any age. If enough RVers would stop going to these parks, they would get rid of the rule.

In Australia, tourist (RV) parks may enforce a six week stay limit.
After six weeks your rental status automatically changes by law and it's harder to evict you.
You can usually come back after one or more weeks away, at the parks discretion.

In Canada it's usually 20 years old not allowed but you can buy extra insurance if older to stay... Scam scam

Agree 100% with you. My coach is coming up to the 10 years number, people always think it is a new coach. We keep it clean and a nice ceramic coat to make her shine.

They don’t want any “Cousin Eddie’s” in their park. You can’t blame them. I’ve never been turned down in my 2004 Tiffin Allegro Bus.

They're just trying to keep the riff-raff out. The ones who travel in junky, broken down eyesores tend to be troublemakers who cause problems and won't leave when evicted. You can't blame those RV parks for trying to minimize potential trouble.

Sorry I do not buy it, literally. I will not spend my money at these parks. I would rather them come out and say the real reason, call it pride in ownership. Since this has come about in the environment where campgrounds are being bought up by corporations, I can only suspect this was driven by lawyers. It’s easier for them to say no if they have a definitive limit to use to deny you entry, I think that is what the 10 year rule is about.

I've seen a couple of videos like this, a couple who had an RV that was just as Immaculate as this and another million dollar rig , both got turned away because they were older.

The whole reason is that especially in CA there are a million derelict motorhomes cooking meth and they want to keep that crap out, also once in there they would probably claim squatters rights and the flippin CA state govt would back them.

We bought a 1989 Vogue motorhome in pristine condition and tried to make a reservation somewhere, at first telling us no. But we offerred to email them pics of exterior and interior, awnings, etc. They immediately called us back and apologized for the inconvenience and told us we could stay as long as we'd like. Just keep up on your vehicle's appearance and it shouldn't be a problem.

There's another reason parks refuse to let old RV's (and old travel trailers into the park). Some owners abandon their old RV's there. The units sit and sit, season after season while the park owners plead with the owners to remove them. It's a troublesome legal process for a park owner to seize and dispose of an RV, a process they loath. All the while these rotting RV's are making the park look like a hobo haven and that kills the park's ratings, bookings, profits, and reputation.

well, some of it has to do with age and maintenance of the rig, as well as how many persons (and animals) staying in the rig ... but also (unspoken) deals with the manufacturers, repair shops, and sales lots in the area....

So I guess it's better to have a brand new flex frame RV stuck in your campground than a well taken care of 10 yr. old RV in your campground.

  • @Masterchief68

Absolutely correct if your rig shows the pride you have in it you should have no trouble getting into a park. If they won’t let a good looking, good running rig in because of its age then, you probably really won’t like staying there anyways!

It goes much further than that. It is an excuse to keep out most “undesirables”. I seriously doubt any of the restricted parks would allow any skoolie, ambulance, or bread truck, no matter how nice they appeared. It is no secret they aren’t going to keep out any Prevost in good shape, no matter the age. That is unless the person had a scraggly beard or whose face was adorned in tattoos. Next time, try registering in your work clothes and a few days worth of beard growth.

I fully support Rv parks and campground standards.
There are way to many RV slums full of homeless and dilapidated RV rigs and Van-life idiots.
Take care of your rig. Keep your site clean and free of accumulated junk.
Respect your Rv neighbors and the park owners.
    Simple.😊
