Nigeria gets enough sunshine daily. So Solar is viable.
Wind is also strong in some parts of the country. So wind turbines should be considered.
Besides centralized solar, individuals could also be allowed to build grid-tie systems.
Furthermore, Nigeria has access to the ocean that never runs dry. Dam the water, and use it for power generation.
If they really want it to work, then find out how other countries have managed to make it work.
Adapt their methods to the Nigerian environment.
    It's that simple.

A year later and still very relevant.
The bottom line, irrespective of what politicians says, is that it is impossible for Nigeria to create a regular supply of electricity as long as they produce 5 000mw.
For example in South Africa with a quarter of the population of Nigeria, they produce 60 000mw and as we all know, there is not enough electricity to go around in SA. That's why they have load shedding (power cuts)
The difference is that SA is continuously expanding its electricity production and at the beginning of 2024 launched bidding for more than 7600mw of new capacity and expects 5 500mw of gas projects to be online by 2026.
The reality is that Nigeria is the country with the largest energy access deficit in the world
    Well presented as always

    Good work. 💪
Please try to learn how to do more video graphics. You start and soon your videos would be better for it. Outsourcing it might cost more than you may be able to handle.
For instance, the illustrations on the board with papers and pins could have been better. The documents you were reading from could also be shown on the screen with parts of them highlighted. It will help your work and your audience tremendously.

Thanks, Bela for this beautiful and very educative video but I should not lie some parts are not too easy to understand but that is how simple anybody can explain it. The Nigerian government should invest more in solar energy and hydropower electricity and as you said the LGAs and state governments should be given more autonomy in generating their electricity. I don't believe all these will be possible if our government and business people continue to think for themselves rather than the Nigerian people by allocating power contracts to people and companies because they are family and these people should be brought to explain and testify how every cent is been spent. I see gas pipelines as a reliable source provide electricity, they do that in Europe(before with Russia). But as you said it has been hard due to vandalism and others. In this regard security and power are interconnected. your storytelling is unique and outstanding. I really love to see Nigerians telling documentaries in their own way. Keep up with your good work. Stay safe
